It was one thing to not care about something, it was quite another to lead with that fact.

Honestly, it wasn’t like he particularly wanted to tart the truth up, but he also didn’t want to come off as aggressively apathetic.

“What did you say?” Yasmine fixed him with a glare as she put his plate of food on the table. Even just the sight and smell of it made his stomach growl. Of course, the big sexy angry mother cow holding it put his hunger pangs into the back row of his priorities.

“I missed school yesterday,” Michael sighed as he reached for his bag and pulled the form that he had been given out, “They told me that I should have you sign this.”

His cow mother all but snatched the sheet out of his hand and read it. Soon enough she was rubbing her small cute snout as she laid it down.

“Why?” was all she asked as she reached for the cupboard and pulled out a pen.

Michael opened his mouth but then promptly closed it shut.

What could he even say?

The truth was straight out; he wasn’t willing to get his mom in trouble when his aunt was pushing for it and he wasn’t willing to do it now that his mom was angry with him.

Or ever for that matter.

But he didn’t have a good excuse planned. Which, in retrospect, he really should have. But missing school really just had not seemed that…big of an issue. And it hadn’t since he changed.

“Well?” his mother asked, her hoof starting to tap the floor with an impatient beat. They were so beautifully manicured too, with smooth cuts that perfectly rounded her-

-but no, he was trying to distract himself.

He had nothing. No excuse, no reason for having missed school, as unimportant as that was. He had squat.

So what else could he do, except stay silent?

His mother’s frown deepened as he stared her back, his mouth not moving one inch.

Yasmine locked eyes with him for a few seconds before sighing and motioning him to the table.

“We are going to have a mother-to-son talk,” she casually said as she took a seat herself. Michael joined her soon after.

“So,” she began as she steepled her hands before him, “You are missing school.”

“Yes,” Michael nodded at that.

“Since when has this gone on?” Yasmine asked.

“Yesterday was the first time,” Michael replied and his mother gave his signed sheet a glance to confirm that.

“But you are not going to tell me why…” Yasmine replied.

Michael shook his head, “I can’t.”

“Why?” his mother was quick to latch on.

He saw the stubborn set of her brow. The determined look in her eyes.

The way she was trying to bore a hole into his mind.

She was willing to wait there with him for as long as she needed to.

But Michael-he was getting lost in those eyes. In the orbs of someone that he loved and desired so much.

And that’s what that increasingly familiar feeling went out of him.

Something left him, making him feel a bit drowsy, and entered into his mother. Something that couldn’t be seen or heard.

Only felt.

Immediately his mother’s eyes glazed over, her posture slacked, and her intensity dissipated.

“Sorry, Mom,” Michael whispered. He had not meant to do that.

Michael put his hands in his head and very messily rubbed his scalp through his head as he groaned in frustration.

He wanted to take his mother seriously, and not avoid their problems by using this power of his. He didn’t want to run away from her.

But at the moment where she was most angry with him, when her emotions were the most intense and her worry and care for him shined through, he couldn’t help but try and reach out to her.

The memory of her lips on his, as brief as their peck was, was still engraved in his mind. And he was hungry for so much more…

He wouldn’t run away from this fight, Michael decided. He would take his lumps like a man and pay whatever he had to pay for caring about his mom.

But first-

“Mom,” Michael said, licking his lips as he stared at her, “I am going to kiss you.”

They already did it once, so surely it shouldn’t snap her out.

And, indeed, after a few moments, Yasmine gave the mild response of “Ok.”

Michael got up from his seat, walked around the table, and stood right next to his mom.

Even when she was sat, Yasmine was about as tall as Michael was when he was standing up. That’s how cow ladies were, and little facets of reality like that had always made his heart race.

Michael brushed the hair out of his mother’s face, and slowly leaned in, his heart punching blood into his veins as his lips pressed against hers.

It wasn’t a peck this time.

This…this was a full kiss.

Michael’s eyes widened as his mother kissed back, her oral petals slowly dancing around his. And so Michael pressed on.

His hand reached for her hair, and entwined his fingers in it as the thrill of kissing the beautiful cow that was his mother made the whole world sharpen in contrast. The taste of her mouth, as mild as it was, was divine. The texture of her lips and snout, the tickling of air as they both broke to breath from time to time.

But the more he got, the hungrier he was.

He was about to put his tongue inside of her mouth, the desire to know what inside of her maw tasted like overcoming him, when all of a sudden he found himself pushed back.

His mother, eyes clear and very non-hypnotized, had pushed him at arm’s length.

When did she come out of it? And why?

“Son…” she said with a warning tone.

Michael could only swallow. He had no idea how bad he had just made things, but he had fucked up.

“Don’t think this means we are alright,” Yasmine warned him, making Michael’s heart pause.

What?

“I want you to think about what you did,” she told him as if he had never affected her mind, “Because you are not leaving your room for the rest of the day.”

The stupified expression on his face must have persisted for a bit too long because her face softened.

“You can take your plate of food with you,” she allowed, pushing it towards him, “And you can bring it back to the kitchen, but I expect nothing more than that, got it?”

And what could Michael do except stupidly nod?

She had gone from confronting him to punishing him, so what exactly had she interpreted their kiss as?

“I know you are a good boy,” Yasmine tenderly added as she reached out and caressed his cheek, “So please think about what you did.”

Michael numbly took his plate of food to his room and ate it as he thought about things.

The first thing his mother had done was acknowledge the kiss, so it wasn’t like she somehow didn’t remember it. So why…

Did she think they had made up? That they had somehow talked about what he did, and the kiss was just her way of “showing him that everything was alright”?

It was a bit strange how responsive she had been to his kiss, being an active participant rather than simply being someone he made out with. So had she broken in the middle of their kiss, or did she begin breaking in the middle of their kiss and fully snapped when she pushed him away?

But no, no, there was something he was missing.

The kiss had been too passionate in retrospect. His mother just made it hard for him to control himself, of course, but that didn’t change the facts.

However, despite being apparently a deal breaker, his mother had initially reacted to the kiss as if it weren’t a big deal all the same.

The kiss had gone over the line, but she had still internalized it as part of their normal relationship.

…did that mean that the next time he tried kissing her that way, that she wouldn’t snap out of it?

Had he, for lack of a better word, normalized it?

Did it not matter what he did to a person in a trance, so long as he did it while they were tranced?

His hands shook and a smile threatened to split his head in half as he contemplated things.

But no, no, his aunt had internalized the things they had done in a very bad way. To herself, that is. He couldn’t push too far without driving people to insane conclusions.

But still, the possibilities…

The reasons why he did not care about school, and why he still couldn’t bring himself to mind his absence that much, were many. But if he wasn’t going to start naming the changes that had gone over him, there were, well, the girls.

Good lords, there had been a time when he had never guessed that he would have girl issues.

And yet, since changing, he’d found out that women noticed him when he was out. That his friend’s mother might not regard intimacy with him as much of a problem and, lastly, there were the cops.

The taurs that were molesting him.

Or would sexual harassment be a better word?

Either way, their interest in him went beyond what was reasonable and he was pretty sure they were, essentially, “grooming” him. These things had all sorts of weird and bad connotations but, if Michael was going to be honest with himself, he didn’t really care.

He LIKED Victoria and Cynthia. He liked their interest in him and the sensual, if predatory, promises that their touches brought. He even liked their pushy overly-confident personalities, but that might just be the fact that they were cops and the whole ensemble did things to him.

The only thing that ruined it all was that they were forcing him into it.

Michael frowned at his food as he ate it.

He could stop it, he supposed.

His powers, he could make them stop bothering him. He had not articulated a plan yet for it, but he was certain he could pressure them until they bent.

But…no. No, he didn’t want Victoria and Cynthia to stop trying to, what, start something with him? Make him their boy toy? Their human slave?

It was quite the bold thing. Human beings had few rights in society. Not many, but they DID possess a few.

Long were the days were the only thing that stopped a man or a woman from simply snatching a human that they liked into their home was if another also wanted that human.

But if these taurs could condition him to fuck them whenever they wanted, it wouldn’t matter if he, later on, went on to marry someone rich and powerful.

They would get him so used to it that when they called, he would come.

Or maybe they were going to offer to marry him themselves after he was too far deep with them? Michael shook his head.

It didn’t matter.

He would lie if he said that he didn’t want what they were offering.

He just hated how they were going about it.

So no, he would not stop them.

But he would make them change.

Of what good was his power, if not that?

And if he could make rapacious taurs change…why not his mom?

O-or his aunt?

He liked the taur cops.

But he loved his mother and aunt.

The women he wanted to have sex with were legion because he was turned on by every single anthro female, but the only ones that truly mattered to him were his family.

And now…he now had a way to turn that desperate dream into a reality.

He could be more than just their nephew and son.

Feeling butterflies in his stomach and feeling so giddy that he almost skipped his steps as he got up, he grabbed his now empty plate and brought it to the kitchen.

While his mother was in the living room, lying on the sofa and watching tv.

These days, it was a rarity to see her relaxing. She was at her job that much.

But he would gladly take advantage of this opportunity to make their relationship into more.

“Mom?” Michael asked as his fingers trembled.

“Yes, hon?” Yasmine turned her head his way. Her horns rose above the backrest of the sofa, so he could see how her head turned his way.

He made his way around that sofa until he was blocking the TV in front of her.

And then, very deliberately, Michael stared her fully in the eye and told her, “I am going to talk to you now.”

The connection between them, the thing that went out from him and flowed into her, snapped into reality almost immediately.

But Michael grabbed at it with desperate hands that he didn’t even know existed. He got a hold of it. And then gritted his teeth as he pushed as much as he could into his mother.

His eyesight went dizzy and he immediately felt like throwing up. The world revolved around him as he lost his sense of balance and he acquainted himself with the floor. His sense of hearing left him to the point that his only reminder that he had not gone mute was the beating of his own heart. All the while, his body went numb throughout.

He tasted blood on his tongue, and he trembled nonstop.

He wondered for a brief moment if doing this might cause him harm. But then dismissed the thought.

For a relationship with his mother, a real relationship, he would give far more than just his own life.

Eventually, the shakes ceased, the world stopped turning and his eyesight returned. His senses normalized and, with weak arms and legs, he got up again.

A liquid ran down his nose, so Michael reflexively cleaned it with his shirt sleeve, almost being taken aback when it turned out to be blood.

But no matter.

If he could have sex with his mom, even once, she would internalize it as it being “normal”, right? At that point…he’d be in a carnal relationship with her, no matter how that “normalization” came about. He could work with that.

He wanted that.

So his fingers trembled as he reached out for his mom.

Honestly, he could tell her to strip, but he didn’t know if that would break the trance on its own. Given how much of it left his body to go into hers, might nothing except a vaginal penetration would bring her out of this trance but it would be best to not risk it.

Better to do this right.

Speaking of.

“You are going to let me-” he began to inform her as he got close, “-strip you.”

His mother sort of looked at him before slowly nodding her head.

So he continued reaching out his fingers about to hook into her shirt before Michael closed his eyes.

No.

It wasn’t enough that he be in a carnal relationship with her.

He…wanted far more than that.

He wanted to make a true family with her. One where he was entwined through blood and inescapable emotional bonds.

So he had to know.

He had to know.

“Mom,” Michael said as he swallowed in his throat, “Are you in a relationship of any kind?”

It was the sort of thing a son never asked their mother. And something he had never cared to know about. He had always appreciated the fantasy of getting with her too much to let reality demolish it.

However, to his great relief, his mother breathed a simple “No.”

Well, that was good.

“Mom,” Michael said again, “When was the last time you had sex?”

The thought of her having relations with anyone stabbed needles in his heart, but this was something he knew for sure she had done. After all, she had once had a family of her own.

“A couple of years ago,” she flatly responded her frow twitching, “It was a colleague of mine and I was feeling very lonely. Nothing else came of it. I wouldn’t let it.”

Michael squeezed his eyes as he let the pain through.

But that was fine. He couldn’t blame his mom.

“And since?” he asked.

“Nothing.” Yasmine dipped her shoulders so minutely that Michael almost didn’t catch on to the fact that she had shrugged, “As a cow, getting invitations is never hard. But I just can’t.”

So she was actively suppressing herself? A part of Michael was happy to hear that, but another part of him felt bad for his mom.

“What about your, um, sexual needs?” Michael asked.

“What about them?” Yasmine flatly replied, starting to frown.

“Don’t you, I don’t know, feel the need to have sex?” he said, frowning at how vulgar he sounded. He, however, had to know.

“All the time,” she replied, “I miss the heat of having another at my side, the scent and presence of a man.”

This was good?

“Have you ever…been with a human?” the human boy asked. He needed to know if he, at least, was compatible with her.

“Yes,” Yasmine answered, “Before I met my husband. Back when I was not serious about my life.”

“Did...you like it?” Michael forced himself to ask.

Yasmine’s were still glazed over, but they seemed to turn and look him in the eye, “Yes.”

Michael let out a breath as some relief flooded in.

“So you like humans?” the boy pressed.

“They are pleasing to the eye,” Yasmine replied.

Michael nodded at that and then took a deep breath. It was time to ask the hard questions.

“What about me?” Michael asked her.

“What about you, hon?” his mother asked, notes of tenderness bleeding through the monotony of her voice.

“Have you ever considered me?” her son asked, “You know, for sex?”

Yasmine went quiet for a few moments.

“...no,” She answered after a while. It was about what Michael expected, but it still hurt.

“But what if,” he found himself asking, “-I wasn’t your son? What then?”

He knew for a fact that some women found him attractive, but who was to say that he was his mother’s type? Not that it would stop him, but he had to know.

“It wouldn’t matter,” his mother replied, “Nothing would matter. Without you, life would have no meaning. It’s a meaningless question.”

“You are almost all that I have left,” she said, her voice almost choking up.

Michael himself felt a pressure in his eyes that threatened to make him lose moisture. But he still had to push on.

“Why?” he demanded, “Why did you never, I don’t know, marry again or have more kids if it’s like that? Never mind that Aunt Laz is kicking around, why didn’t you try to fill in this hole?”

Michael would have normally been nervous at asking these questions if it wasn’t because he knew that he himself was precisely that; A replacement.

So if she got him, why not more?

By this point, the slack of her face and her body were vanishing as she seemed to be paying more attention to him.

“Honey,” she began, “My blood is cursed.”

“That’s a fucking lie,” Michael couldn’t help but hiss out.

“It’s true,” she said, sympathy bleeding through, “My Deviation Index is high enough that any children that I have would be in danger.”

“I can’t subject another man to love me knowing that,” She said, “Nor subject any more children to that kind of end.”

“Not again,” she ended.

“But there are humans!” Michael argued, “The children that you have don’t need to go auroch! That is what human beings are for!”

Michael was shouting, he found.

He was yelling and…his mother wasn’t under a trance anymore.

She had begun snapping from it earlier on, Michael knew, but he had apparently finished the process.

Still, his mother didn’t end the conversation or rushed to send him to his room.

Instead, she smiled at him and reached out to caress his face again.

“That is true,” she replied without mind control of any kind requiring her to, “But I also don’t want to replace the family that I had.”

For some reason, that statement made him mad.

“Then what am I!” Michael almost snarled.

“A miracle,” his mother replied and Michael’s sails lost all their wind.

Could he even believe that?

But no, it didn’t matter; his mother seemed to. And that was enough, he supposed.

That was…he so wanted her.

He so very much wanted her.

“Can I-” Michael sniffed, “-can I get a kiss?”

A kiss on the head or a kiss on the cheek. Either way was fine.

He just wanted some affection.

Instead, his mother reached out and captured his lips.

Michael’s breath stopped.

She wasn’t under a trance and he had not asked for this.

And yet, out of her own will, his mother smooshed her lips into his.

She was soft and deliberate as she did it. The cow parted his own flaps and compressed them. She drew them into her mouth and lightly sucked at them.

She stole his breath away before pulling back and giving him a motherly smile that gave away nothing about how intimate this whole thing had been.

“My project is almost finished,” she informed him as if she hadn’t broken a taboo with her son with her own mental faculties, “And I know I haven’t been spending too much time with you these days.”

“No, I-I understand,” Michael said, “It’s work. It’s fine.”

Yasmine hummed, “Once that’s finished, I’ll be around more. Now, I know that once a younging like you gets a taste of freedom that it’s hard to let go, so I don’t expect that everything will all go back to how it was.”

“My little boy is growing after all,” she said as she petted Michael’s head, “But keep your rebellious actions on the down low, please? For me?”

“Mooom,” Michael groaned.

His mother laughed.

“Now go back to your room,” she told him, “Your time out isn’t done.”

And so Michael did just that.

That was the most maternal and familial conversation that he had had with her in months. And that was with the kiss that he gave her.

Was that what normalization did? Make bad things not seem bad? But no, his aunt Lazuli had stripped for him and she had not thought that was good.

But if he could just make having sex be like that…then his mother could still give him that sort of affection afterward.

It would not be the love of a man and a woman, but maybe he could work with that? But even if he couldn’t, he’d still try and fill the hole in her life in whatever way he could.

He just had to make her see that.

He’d missed his chance to be sexually intimate with his mother this time, but that was fine. First, he had to work on his theory some more, so that he could get everything just right.

His phone was in his hand soon enough and he was marking a number that he had long ago memorized.

“Heeeeello,” the girly voice at the other end said.

“Hey Aunt Laz,” Michael replied, “Still hung over?”

“Fucking kiddo,” his bovine aunt said, “Did you call me just to make fun of me?”

“What’s wrong with being a bull-y?” Michael asked.

“You know, puns don’t have to be bad if you just put some effort into them,” Lazuli replied, “Something to keep in mind next time you bother your aunt.”

“Why, are you working right now?” Michael asked.

“Nah, ditched work early,” Lazuli said and Michael felt as though he could make out the sound of her bike through the background.

“Are you driving that bike and talking to me at the same time?” Michael demanded.

“What, would you rather I just hang up on my cute human nephew?” she shot back.

“It’s dangerous,” Michael replied.

“It’s fiiine,” she assured him, “But yeah, what’s up?”

“I am going to come over tomorrow,” he told her. If he was going to use these powers to develop his ideal life, well, there was only one other person that Michael NEEDED in his life aside from his mom.

And that was his aunt.

The progress that he made with her with his powers wasn’t ideal, given how negative her normalization of the whole thing had been, but his personal relationship with her had, despise that, flourished.

Despite the sex, or lack thereof, he felt that he was connecting with her. That they could be more than just a nephew and his aunt.

So he could force intimacy with her, while still developing their relationship in the way he dreamed about. And, by doing so, learn how to do it with his mom.

“Really? Kiddo, I’ve been blowing my job way too much,” Lazuli sighed through the phone.

“Didn’t you just say that you left it early?” Michael asked.

“I’ve been blowing my job way too much,” Lazuli repeated herself.

“So it’s one of those things that you don’t respect but like?” Michael asked.

“Yeah, no, I get enough of this shit from your mom,” his aunt growled, “I don’t need a pint-sized cutie psychoanalyzing me now.”

“...so you think I am cute,” Michael asked.

“Goddamn it Michael, I am hanging up now,” his aunt warned.

“I had another change,” Michael suddenly said and a silence stretched between them.

“...be here first thing in the morning,” she very, very seriously told him, “If you are not, I am coming for you. And I don’t care how your mother reacts.”

“The bus leaves at 8!” Michael rushed to say, “And gets there by 9!”

“...fine,” his aunt breathed out, “But your ass better be here.”

“Are you alright, Aunt Laz?” Michael pondered.

“Am I-no, my nephew who is too stubborn to go and get full medical and professional help because it might get my sister into a little bit of trouble just had another mutation!” the cow woman yelled, “I am fucking dandy!”

“Nevermind that I should be asking YOU that,” Lazuli grunted, “You’d probably try and blow me off or some shit like that.”

“9 sharp, got it?” she hissed.

“Crystal,” Michael replied and then the call cut off as his aunt turned off her phone.

Michael looked at it for a few seconds before he started laughing.

For the first time, he wondered if something was wrong with him. More than the obvious, that was.

Bullying his aunt had been incredibly fun and seeing her upset had appealed to him at a deep level. It made him want to reach out through the phone and twerk her hair or something, just so he could get more reactions from her.

And this, when just a week ago conflict of any kind made him anxious.

The most obvious thing about him that had changed was his body. The animalistic cock and balls that wouldn’t let him wear any underwear. But had his mind, perhaps, changed too?

Well, given that he doubted that his magic came from genitals, he supposed it was a dumb question; of course, it had.

But had it changed who he was?

He wasn’t the…outgoing, socially and sexually aggressive person that he had been as of late.

He wasn’t the sort to invite a fight with his bullies, rather than just letting the adults around him do so.

He did not ask his best friend’s mother for her panties!

And yet here he was.

But then, had he ever known who he really was? A replacement, sure. A human, obviously. Someone who was fated to “make a woman very happy”? Yeah, he had always known all of that.

But many other people were like that. He wasn’t the only person who had been adopted. And he certainly wasn’t the only human that had.

But he was he and no one else.

So, really, was it that bad that he was now someone he could now look in the mirror and sort of be proud of?

He now had, in his grasp, the ability to make his mother and aunt his. It had always been the fondest desire in his heart, but now it could be a reality.

The change in his sense of smell and his testicles still worried him, of course. Mutations like these just did not happen to human beings. He very deliberately tried to not think about what it meant for him to, essentially, be the first case of “human aurochization”. Death and insanity were the only two paths that lay in that direction.

But then, the shield that covered his district might collapse for a few minutes while he was outside.

A vile hateful wind might swoop down where he was.

Interdimensional physics might turn his body inside out in those brief moments of vulnerability like it sometimes happened to others. No one lived forever and Michael had never lived afraid of the normal dangers of his world. So why would he start now?

And, well….he had a feeling that it would not turn out that way for him.

He had a feeling that he was something new.
