But in their world, there's more to love than dominance—the shared moments make their bond unbreakable._

Chapter One: A Night Out

Derrick stood before the full-length mirror, turning slightly from side to side. He wasn’t vain—at least, not in the way most elk were—but he did take quiet pride in his appearance. His fur gleamed in the warm light, thick and well-groomed, muscles shifting beneath with every breath. His antlers, polished to a fine sheen, caught the glow, casting shadows across the room. He exhaled slowly, fingers flexing at his sides, then ran through his chest's short fur.

Fresh from a long shower, he should have felt more at ease. But instead, a tremor shivered through his pelt.

_What are you doing?_

The voice whispered in the back of his mind. Not a real voice—just an echo of years spent living a certain way, a reflection of what he’d always believed.

_You’re a bull. You know your place. You’ve always been the one in control._

Derrick shut his eyes, willing the thought to fade. He had no shortage of partners—men, women, it didn’t matter. It wasn’t about who he shared a bed with, but about what they sought from him and what he gave in return: strength. Power. The dominance that came so naturally to him.

He had never questioned it before.

His eyes opened again, locking onto his reflection. A bull elk, in every sense of the word. Big. Capable. Wanted.

And yet…

There was a quiet unease in the pit of his stomach, a subtle twist he couldn’t ignore.

His tail flicked once before he turned, stepping into his walk-in closet. His fingers skimmed over the hanging shirts, pausing before pulling out one that felt right. Dark. Fitted but not too tight—effortless, yet comfortable. The same with his jeans—casual, but carefully chosen.

A final glance in the mirror, then he stepped into the cool night air. His fur prickled against the crisp air, but his skin burned with warmth beneath it. Anticipation mixed with nerves—a strange knot in his gut. He wasn’t sure which emotion was winning.

By the time the elevator doors slid open, he’d pushed those doubts aside.

Tonight, for the first time in his life, Derrick wasn’t going to be the one in control.

And that thought, both terrifying and thrilling, sent a rush of heat through him.

Chapter Two: First Steps

Derrick stood outside the bar, shifting his weight from one hoof to the other. The neon sign above hummed softly, its glow casting a welcoming, almost seductive light over the entrance. Velvet. The cursive lettering seemed to promise something beyond what Derrick was used to.

He’d passed this place before, slowed just long enough to glance inside, but never had he stepped over the threshold.

Not until now.

The door swung open, and a pair of otters stumbled out, laughing, their tails tangled together. The scent of alcohol, sweat, and bodies rolled over him, teasing his senses. Derrick swallowed, fingers adjusting his shirt as if to shake off the unease creeping up his spine.

_You could turn around. No one would know._

But he would know. He’d always known.

With a deep breath, he squared his shoulders and stepped inside.

The air inside was thick with the sound of low, pulsing music, the beat reverberating through the floor beneath him. The mingling scents of sweat, musk, and cologne filled the space, sharp and heady. Booths lined the edges of the room, and a long bar stretched across the far side. The lighting, soft and moody, bathed everything in deep reds and golds.

Derrick could feel the weight of eyes on him. An elk wasn’t exactly subtle, especially not one of his size. A few curious glances flicked his way, some more brazen than others, but Derrick didn’t let his gaze linger. He moved toward the bar and ordered a whiskey neat, hoping the familiar burn would settle his nerves.

The bartender—a grizzled old badger—nodded without a word, pouring the drink with practiced ease. Derrick took the glass, exhaling as he leaned against the counter, the whiskey’s heat a welcome distraction.

"You look like someone who’s thinking too hard."

The voice was smooth, tinged with amusement.

Derrick turned his head slightly, his eyes meeting those of a fox sitting a few stools away. Lean, dressed casually but with an effortless sharpness, his red fur gleamed in the dim light. His eyes—sharp, keen—seemed to assess Derrick with an ease that put him on edge.

Not shy. Not the playful fox Derrick might have expected. This one was different. There was a quiet confidence, a calculated calmness that Derrick didn’t often encounter.

Derrick studied him, and the fox studied back.

After a beat, Derrick smirked. "Maybe I am."

Avery’s lips twitched, amusement flickering in his gaze. "Well, stop. You’ll hurt yourself."

Derrick huffed a chuckle, the tension in his chest loosening slightly. "I’ll manage."

A slow sip of whiskey. The fox’s gaze never wavered, a subtle challenge hanging between them.

"Name’s Avery," he said finally, his voice low but confident.

Derrick turned toward him fully now, rolling the name over in his mind. "Derrick."

Avery lifted his drink in a silent toast, eyes glinting. "So, Derrick—are you just here for the whiskey, or are you looking for something a little stronger?"

Derrick tilted his head, his gaze narrowing slightly as he studied the fox once more.

He had a feeling Avery wasn’t just talking about the drinks.

Chapter Three: **Dance of Conversation**

Derrick found himself lingering, a strange reluctance keeping him rooted to the spot. Normally, he wasn’t the type to stay in one place too long—especially not in a setting like this, where every set of eyes seemed to peel away the layers of his carefully maintained composure. But Avery wasn’t like the others. He wasn’t fawning, wasn’t intrusive. He was just… there.

The fox swirled the amber liquid in his glass, his expression unreadable yet somehow inviting. "So, Derrick," he said smoothly, voice a low purr, "what brings an elk like you to a place like this?"

Derrick exhaled, a slow, measured breath, his throat tight as the warmth of the whiskey spread. "Drinks."

Avery’s ears flicked with amusement. "Right. And I’m here for the decor."

That earned a smirk from Derrick. He took another sip, the liquid a comforting burn that settled deep in his chest. "Let’s just say… I don’t usually do this."

Avery arched a brow, leaning in just slightly, his voice dropping a notch. "This? As in bars? Or this?" His gaze never left Derrick, sharp and focused.

Derrick rolled the glass between his fingers, the weight grounding him, but his mind was racing, grappling with the heat slowly creeping up his neck. "Both."

A moment stretched between them—no tension, just a quiet moment where Avery seemed to take stock of him. "Then why tonight?" The question was casual, but it hit deeper than the others.

That was the question, wasn’t it?

Derrick had asked himself the same thing, standing in front of his mirror, pushing aside the voice telling him to forget the whole thing. He had asked himself again when he’d approached the door, heart hammering like he was a damn teenager sneaking into forbidden territory.

He could give some smooth, rehearsed answer. But something about Avery made him feel like that wouldn’t fly.

So, he settled for the truth.

"Curiosity."

Avery hummed in approval, lips curling into a subtle smirk as he took another slow sip, eyes never breaking from Derrick’s. "Good answer."

The conversation flowed from there, easily, naturally—drinks refilled, the small talk turning into something deeper. Derrick found himself relaxing, shedding the layers of caution and wariness. Avery wasn’t pushing him, wasn’t probing for anything Derrick wasn’t ready to say.

Instead, the fox had an easy confidence about him—sharp, but not cutting. Playful, but never overbearing. He had opinions, observations, and wasn’t afraid to challenge Derrick’s own. And Derrick liked it. Liked him.

Hours passed in a blur, the minutes slipping away unnoticed. The bar grew emptier, the crowd thinning to late-night stragglers, but Derrick barely noticed the shift. Avery’s presence was a constant, magnetic pull.

At some point, Avery leaned in just a little, his voice dropping lower, smoother. "So. You planning to sit here and make eyes at me all night, or do you want to take this somewhere a little less… crowded?"

Derrick’s ears twitched, the words sending a thrill down his spine, subtle but undeniable.

He could say no. He could walk away, pretend nothing had changed.

But he wouldn’t.

He had come here looking for something.

And now, it was standing right in front of him.

Derrick met Avery’s gaze, steady and sure. "Let’s go."

Avery’s smirk deepened, his tail flicking with an almost predatory grace as he slid off his stool. "Your place or mine?"

Derrick pulled out his wallet, dropping cash on the counter, then met Avery’s gaze again, his heart hammering with a mixture of anticipation and something else—something sharper.

"Mine."

Avery’s smirk widened, eyes gleaming with a teasing challenge as he stepped toward the door. "Lead the way, big guy."

And for the first time tonight, Derrick wasn’t hesitating.

Chapter Four: A Quiet Curiosity

Derrick's apartment is dimly lit, warm in a way that feels both intimate and unfamiliar. He stands near the kitchen, pouring whiskey into two glasses with slow, deliberate hands. His movements are steady, controlled—too controlled. It’s a small anchor, something to focus on, something to keep him from thinking too hard about what’s happening.

Avery leans against the counter, watching him. The fox has been watching him all night, but not in the usual way. There’s no hunger in his gaze, no expectation—just quiet patience. The kind that says _I know_ without needing words.

Derrick slides a glass across the counter. Avery takes it, their fingers brushing for the briefest moment. The elk feels the contact more than he should, heat lacing through him, pooling in places he’s never let himself acknowledge before. He looks away, quickly, focusing on the deep amber liquid in his glass. He takes a sip. The warmth spreads through his chest, but it doesn’t quite ease the tightness in his shoulders.

Music hums low from the speakers in the living room—some instrumental piece Derrick barely remembers putting on. It fills the silence, softens the edges of the space between them.

Avery takes a sip, then sets his glass down with a soft clink.

“You don’t have to be nervous,” he says, his voice light but steady.

Derrick exhales through his nose, a quiet huff. “I’m not.”

Avery’s smirk is almost imperceptible, but it’s there, tugging at the corner of his muzzle. “Right. That’s why you’ve been holding onto that glass like it’s the only thing keeping you grounded.”

Derrick glances down. Sure enough, his grip is a little too tight. He forces himself to loosen his fingers, setting the glass down beside Avery’s.

Avery doesn’t press further, doesn’t tease. He just shifts closer, enough that Derrick can feel the warmth of his presence. There’s no rush, no demand—just the quiet weight of possibility settling between them.

Derrick rolls his shoulders, trying to dispel the tension coiling there. He doesn’t know why he feels like this—like he’s standing on the edge of something vast and unknowable, heart pounding in his chest as though he’s about to leap.

His voice is quieter when he finally speaks, rough with something he can’t name.
“I’ve never… been someone’s cow before.”
The words fall between them like stones. They hang in the air, heavier than they should be. It’s not just an admission—it’s a surrender, a crack in the armor he’s spent his entire life wearing.

Avery tilts his head, ears flicking. He steps closer, lifting a hand slowly, giving Derrick every chance to stop him. When Derrick doesn’t pull away, the fox’s fingers graze his jaw, tracing the strong line up to the base of his antlers. The touch is warm, grounding, and Derrick doesn’t pull away. He doesn’t know if he could.

Avery’s voice is quiet, steady.
“Then let me show you.”

Derrick exhales, long and slow, and for the first time all night, he lets himself stop thinking. He doesn’t question it, doesn’t second-guess. He just breathes, feels Avery’s touch as it settles deep inside him, in a place he’s kept locked away for so long. And in that quiet, shared moment, Derrick lets go.

Chapter Five: **Unravelling**

Derrick’s heart pounds in his chest, erratic and wild, each beat a reminder of how far out of his comfort zone he’s ventured. His hooves shift beneath him, feeling the cool surface of the kitchen counter as an anchor—but it doesn’t steady the storm inside. He’s never been so exposed, so vulnerable. Every instinct tells him to pull away, to hide the fear gnawing at him, but Avery’s presence is unwavering, steady and slow, keeping him grounded.

Avery watches him, those dark eyes full of patience and warmth. There’s no rush, no demand, only an unspoken promise. His movements are slow, deliberate, reading Derrick’s every reaction, waiting for him to make the first move, to give his permission.

“You’re shaking.” Avery’s voice is soft but carries weight. “You don’t have to do anything. Just breathe, Derrick.”

Derrick swallows, nodding slightly, his breath shallow but steadier with each moment Avery is near. It’s getting easier to breathe, each touch, each gentle word grounding him in this unfamiliar place. His mind clouds with nerves, but Avery’s steady hand guides him, reassuring him to let go, to surrender in a way he never has before. Not like this.

Avery’s fingers brush along the curve of Derrick’s jaw, light but firm. He doesn’t pull away. Instead, he leans into the touch, willing himself to trust, to give in to the warmth of the fox’s care. “I’ve got you,” Avery whispers, his voice barely audible, yet full of meaning. “Let me take care of you.”

The promise in those words hits Derrick in the chest. It’s a quiet offering, an unspoken gift of safety. A moment’s hesitation is all Derrick allows before he leans into Avery’s touch, his body still tense but willing, aching for something more.

Avery doesn’t rush. His fingers slide gently along Derrick’s antlers, tracing their curve with slow precision, as though memorising every ridge, every detail. Each touch sends shivers through Derrick’s body.

When Avery finally leans in, his lips hover near Derrick’s neck, just a breath away. The elk’s pulse quickens, but Avery doesn’t kiss him yet. His breath warms Derrick’s skin, teasing, waiting. Derrick’s heart beats louder, his breath ragged. Finally, Avery’s lips press against the soft skin of his throat, a kiss so light it’s almost a whisper.

Derrick’s breath catches, a soft, desperate sound—something between a gasp and a bleat. The first crack in his tough exterior. Avery doesn’t stop. His lips trail lower, kissing the line of Derrick’s shoulder, his chest, each movement slow and deliberate, taking care with every inch of skin he touches. The tension in Derrick’s body begins to unravel, like a rope slowly loosening, strand by strand.

Avery’s lips press against Derrick’s chest near his collarbone, and Derrick trembles. The fox’s hands slide around his waist, holding him in place. Derrick’s chest rises and falls with each shaky breath, unsure whether to pull away or lean closer. But Avery’s touch keeps him anchored, gentle, soothing.

“Tell me how you feel,” Avery murmurs, his lips brushing against Derrick’s skin. “Tell me what you need.”

Derrick’s voice catches in his throat. What does he need? His mind is a blur, caught between desire and uncertainty. But Avery’s steady presence gives him the courage to speak.

“I… I need… you,” Derrick whispers, his voice barely audible, trembling with vulnerability he’s never allowed himself to show.

Avery’s smile is felt against his skin, warm and reassuring. Without a word, he moves closer, his body pressing against Derrick’s, lips finding his again, this time with purpose. The elk’s soft gasp is muffled by the kiss, his eyes fluttering shut as it deepens. Avery’s hands slide lower, guiding Derrick’s legs to cross around his waist, drawing him in closer.

The sensation of Avery’s body pressing against his is electric, every inch sending a rush of heat through Derrick. It’s not just physical; this feels different. Avery’s touch is deliberate, measured. His lips move from Derrick’s mouth to his neck, his shoulder, and down his chest. Every kiss, every caress, is a promise. Avery’s hands caress Derrick’s body with purpose, mapping every response, each shift in his form.

When Avery finally presses closer, their bodies aligning, hips moving together, Derrick can’t stop the soft bleat that escapes him. It’s not a sound of fear anymore, but something more primal, more raw. He grips the counter tightly with one hand, his other pulling Avery closer, legs tightening around the fox’s waist.

Avery’s voice is a whisper, soft and reassuring. His lips brush Derrick’s ear, and he chuckles quietly. “Let go,” he whispers, guiding Derrick’s body with practiced care. “Let go. Trust me.”

Avery’s movements are steady, controlled, each thrust slow and deliberate. Derrick’s body betrays him, responding in ways he’s never felt. Pleasure builds, wave after wave, pulling him further into the moment. His breath quickens, and his body trembles as the sensations wash over him, building with every thrust.

Then, as Avery shifts position, Derrick feels it—a sudden rush of sensation that makes his breath catch. Avery moves with purpose, guiding Derrick’s body, each slow movement deepening their connection. Derrick’s bleats grow louder, more desperate as the vulnerability within him peaks, and he surrenders to it. Every touch, every kiss, every movement strips away the walls he’s built, leaving him raw and exposed most beautifully.

Avery’s pace never falters. Slow. Steady. Controlled. Each movement is filled with care, and Derrick’s world narrows to the way Avery’s hands touch him, the way his lips press against his skin, the sound of his breath as it grows more ragged. Every moment feels like it’s peeling away everything Derrick’s hidden behind for so long.

And then, with a soft gasp, it happens. Derrick feels his tension unravel, all the fear, all the walls, everything he’s kept buried inside, released in a single, overwhelming wave. His breath catches as the pleasure crashes over him. “Let go, my dear, deer,” Avery murmurs against his fur, nipping gently at his throat. “Let it happen, just between us…”

Derrick locks his hind legs around Avery’s waist, pulling him in sharply. Avery gasps as he’s drawn fully into the elk, the sensation overwhelming. Derrick trembles beneath him, a low, muffled gasp escaping as he presses his lips to Avery’s neck. Avery feels it—the warmth spreading between them, the tension unraveling completely.

Avery chuckles softly, satisfaction in his voice. “Wow,” he murmurs before giving in to the moment, pulling Derrick closer and kissing him deeply. The heat between them is palpable, their connection undeniable.

Derrick’s breath is shaky, a soft, muffled sound escaping him—something between relief and joy. Avery moves with him, guiding him through the release, never rushing, never pushing, but always offering that steady presence that Derrick needs.

And then, Avery arches his back, a deep groan escaping his muzzle as he presses forward. The sensation of release surges through him, and he collapses against Derrick, the elk’s arms wrapping around him as they both find comfort in the aftermath.

For a long moment, they stay like that, bodies entwined, Derrick’s legs still wrapped around Avery’s waist. The warmth between them lingers, an unspoken understanding shared in their silence.

Avery presses a soft kiss to Derrick’s forehead, his voice low and soothing. “Well, I guess neither of us is going anywhere for a while…”

Derrick’s chest rises and falls with each lingering exhale. His voice is a whisper as he rests his head against Avery’s shoulder. “No,” he says, his tone calm and full of something deeper. “No, I don’t think so.”

**Chapter Six: Morning After**

A sheen of sweat and musk clung to Derrick’s fur as the morning light filtered through the curtains. He lay beside Avery, watching as the vulpine remained utterly still, barely conscious and thoroughly shattered from their intense night. Avery’s body was a limp, tangled mess of fur, his breathing shallow, every muscle too weak to even twitch. Exhaustion radiated from him—a far cry from the playful, energetic fox Derrick had known. His mind seemed lost in the haze of the pleasure Derrick had driven him to.

Derrick’s gaze softened as he watched Avery, sprawled across the bed like a broken toy. Avery’s tail lay motionless, his eyes closed and unfocused. There was no trace of the fox’s usual vivacity, the teasing grin that could make Derrick’s heart race. It was a testament to the intensity of their night, to how far Derrick had pushed him. A deep sense of satisfaction surged in Derrick’s chest, knowing he had taken Avery beyond his limits, completely wrecked him in the best way.

Avery’s breath hitched, a barely audible sigh escaping him, but there was no movement—just the steady rise and fall of his chest. Derrick smiled softly, savoring the silence. The aftermath of their passion hung thick in the air, and he was content to let the moment live on, relishing the quiet intimacy between them.

Leaning down, Derrick kissed the side of Avery’s neck, the warmth of his lips pressing gently against the sweat-slicked skin. His voice was low, teasing, but with an affectionate edge. “You know… are you alive?”

The only response was the soft, rhythmic rise and fall of Avery’s chest. No witty retort, no playful challenge—just the quiet surrender of a vulpine who had been driven beyond his usual playful self. Derrick’s hand moved to stroke Avery’s ruffled fur, his fingers brushing lightly through the soft mess of it, savoring the stillness that had taken over him.

Still, Derrick’s dominant side hadn’t quite let go. A mischievous glint flickered in his eyes. He leaned closer, his breath warm against Avery’s ear as he whispered, “You mess with an elk bull... you'll get more than you bargained for. Just be thankful it’s not the rut yet…”

But Avery didn’t respond. His body was motionless, locked in a deep, blissful oblivion. Derrick let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head in amusement before pulling away slightly.

“Guess I’ll just have to leave it to your imagination,” Derrick muttered, his voice thick with humor.

He stood from the bed, moving with a quiet grace as he made his way toward the bathroom. The sound of the shower filled the room briefly, and when Derrick emerged, his fur freshly damp and scent-washed, he paused for a moment, glancing back at Avery. The vulpine was still sprawled out across the bed, completely unresponsive.

Derrick crouched beside the bed, a small smile tugging at his lips. He reached out, gently caressing Avery’s cheek, the touch tender and almost affectionate. “That’s what you get for testing a bull elk,” he murmured softly, his fingers brushing the smooth ruffles of Avery’s fur. “Mess with the bull... You get the horn.”

Still, Avery didn’t stir. No flicker of response. Just the quiet, contented rhythm of his breathing, steady and peaceful.

Derrick chuckled quietly to himself, his heart swelling with affection for the wrecked vulpine. He stood, stretching slightly, before dressing with deliberate slowness. He took a moment to admire Avery’s completely broken state—his messy fur, his relaxed posture, the complete peace that had overtaken him. Derrick couldn’t help but feel a rush of pride in knowing he had done that. His gaze lingered for a moment longer before he turned away to finish getting dressed.

Before leaving, Derrick walked back to Avery’s side. He leaned down and kissed him gently on the cheek—no teasing, no playful remarks—just a soft, intimate gesture that felt like a quiet promise. His lips lingered against Avery’s fur for a moment longer than usual, savoring the calm, the peace that came in the aftermath of their connection. “Thank you. It was... wonderful.”

Avery’s only response was the quiet, steady rhythm of his breathing, his body still and utterly spent, lost in the blissful afterglow of the night they’d shared. Derrick chuckled to himself, adjusting his tie before quietly slipping out of the apartment, the door clicking softly shut behind him.
