It gave me a very bad feeling in my stomach. I was very concerned about how this would work out. An asian person at the desk handed me a pamphlet. It described in great detail what they were doing. They were going to play with fire.

The pamphlet laid out their plan: they were going to allow adults to raise people like me. They would not only look like dogs but also cats, squirrels, foxes, cheetahs, wolves, and even red pandas. They were going to start a lobbying group to advance the industry and grant their experiments eventual citizenship. Their so-called "plan" did nothing to calm my fears. I knew this might happen someday; I just didn't want it to happen _now_.

**Henry:** I have so many questions about this. I don't even know where to begin. I guess I'll ask what your name is.

**Person:** My name is Mr. Li.

**Henry:** Hi, Mr. Li. Where is this company going to be based?

**Mr. Li:** I think you'll be pleased to know that it will be based in your hometown.

**Henry:** Where are you going to be selling them?

Mr. Li gave me a chart. It showed the areas of America that were damaged the most, specifically rust-belt towns, as well as New Orleans.

**Mr. Li:** Our plan is to have cold-weather animals inhabit these towns. We've read on your blog about how you'd never move down south and how you prefer cold weather. I see you have the water bottle with you, yes?

**Henry:** Ya.

**Mr. Li:** If these animals will stay up north, the theory goes that their economies would recover. In some cases, it may be their only hope. There's a town called Warren, PA. They had around 10,000 people, according to the Census of 9 A.W. How many people do you think there are now?

**Henry:** I don't know, 6,000?

**Mr. Li:** Actually, it's 413. For decades, kids have been leaving the town to chase their dreams. They've been taking their ideas further south and west. That's where the jobs are now. That's where the opportunity has been. One of our top scientists was born there. He's not going back.

**Henry:** How would they help economically? I mean, couldn't they just move back to the cities?

**Mr. Li:** They probably will, but there will always be those that don't. Even the cities have been suffering. Their intelligence would hopefully be put to good use.

**Henry:** Their intelligence?

**Mr. Li:** You mean you don't know? The scientists at the university wanted you to think like an average human. The testing they did to you shows that your are much smarter than that.

He handed me papers from the university showing the results of this testing. My IQ was 213. Brainwave activity was far above "normal." I was stunned. I often thought that I wasn't as smart as the humans, but never thought I would be smarter than them. Inside I was infuriated that they didn't release the papers.

**Mr. Li:** Even GM babies haven't gotten that high, at least not yet. If we could get that kind of result accross the country, imagine what good it would do for humanity.

**Henry:** That's great and all, but you saw what happened with one, you know, when I was born. You're creating a new race of smart people. The Nationals are going to be all over your ass, and there won't be a catastrophe to save us this time.

**Mr. Li:** I know that would be concerning to a high-ranking memeber of the DSP like yourself. It wasn't just America. It was a global thing. Your birth also turned over the legislative Yuan and the parliament of India. The culture in the Republic is much more regressive over something like this. It's an insult to their way of life.

**Henry:** Then what are you going to do to stop political armageddon?

**Mr. Li:** All we can do is educate the public. We're going to start a lobby as soon as it gets started. I'm sure it won't be as much of a problem in the states where they will reside. They could use something like this, and their culture is much more accepting.

**Henry:** Is this just an American thing? Are you going to do this elsewhere?

**Mr. Li:** For now it's just an American thing. Consider us a cattle prod pushing your country forward. That's one reason we decided to do this.

**Henry:** Where are you going to get the money?

**Mr. Li:** People will pay for the cubs. We're also going to accept donations.

**Henry:** How are you going to prevent child abuse?

**Mr. Li:** We have a strict policy against it, and once they become citizens that won't be a problem.

**Henry:** Are they going to be able to reproduce?

**Mr. Li:** Of course.

I stood there for awhile, and finally thought the one question above all else I wanted answered.

**Henry:** When is this all going to begin?

**Mr. Li:** Three years tops.

**Henry:** Oh, okay.

Just as I was about to leave, Mr. Li gave the last word.

**Mr Li:** One more thing, Henry. You are also a part of this. It all boils down to you. If we don't have your support, then we're not going to anywhere with this. I don't want you to go down as the only one of your kind that's ever lived. Imagine being able to talk to more people like yourself. Imagine not being so lonely.

After that I left, having much on on my mind to think about. I took the pamphlet to my room and stared at it. I went on the website. My mind went running in circles. I got a phone call to my hotel room.

**MariaKitsune:** I hope you haven't forgotten about the dinner you'll be having with the sponsors. Come down to room 13 at 17:30.

**Henry:** Okay.

I hung up the phone. Things were going to be completely different from here on out. I just knew it.
