The value of silence is paid by listening  
By what you hear and feel  
Inside the rhythm of the heart speaking softly  
In words rising and falling through thistle-down spirals  
And the seeds of dandelions dark with intent  
Meaning  
Lifted by white airy, refined emotional stillness  
Like a pond ruffled by a gentle breeze  
Dancing  
As the seeds-words are carried over  
From soul to heart to mind  
To lips where they tremble behind and speak to you  
Without talking behind silence singing tranquility  
Or at least quiet peace where you are.  
  
This is the lesson and the value of silence.  
Calm  
Contained and  
communicating  
What you already knew  
But was not yet acknowledged.  
This is the lesson to remain  
still while words  
float in the hollows of your marrow  
That you are here  
And there is peace with simply being  
In letting the heart speak without noise  
In hearing and listening  
Which truly cannot be done  
Without a little silence  
Between friends,  
Lovers,  
And Yourself.
