Same old route, just around this bend, then a short and gentle incline and it'd be \"all change\".\n\nA shudder from the rails and crackling sounds\u0026nbsp; brought him alert, the long shadows that escaped the slice of the headlights in the tunnel's gloom seemed to warp and bend up ahead, mezmerising him with their dance as they rushed to converge into a solid black. The blast that followed caught him off guard, a bright flash accompanied by an ear shattering boom left him near senseless, barely making out the large shadow which flitted across the front of the engine.\n\nHis senses seeped back amidst the ringing in his ears, fading of the intense light and squealing of steel brakes,bringing the train to a halt. The shadows had returned as if they had never moved. headlights casting their usual gloomy relief across a still, lifeless figure slumped against the curve of the tunnel.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nFrom the safety of the darkness ahead two slitted amber eyes observed the scene, an unseen mouth uttering a gravelly, satisfied grunt \"Wake up pet!\"\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
