{"sf1_id":268462,"sf2_id":"yndv9dle","title":"2112: A Chimera's Perspective","author":"Kodyax","words":551,"posted_at":"2011-07-17T18:32:00.000Z","tags":["Cyberpunk","Near Future","No-Yiff","lupursyn"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/268462-2112-a-chimera-s-perspective","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/yndv9dle","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/c9/9d/c99db452-0a09-4c3c-b245-80f0f4590334","description":"","content":"2112\n\nA Chimera's Perspective\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWe live in a world of Crisis\n\nMillions upon billions died as the major faiths looked on\n\nImpotent as newly born babes\n\nPeople abandoned organized religion to turn inward\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nMecca is a smoldering crater in the radioactive wasteland that was the Middle East\n\nI've been there and it's not a pretty picture by any stretch of the imagination\n\nVatican City is a smoldering crater in Italy\n\nMuch of Europe is better but not by much\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAmerica was once a shining beacon of prosperity and entertainment\n\nBut now it is no more\n\nSplintered into five nations that fight amongst themselves\n\nI worked for them all in one capacity or another\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe Union of Territories, The Nation of Latter Day Saints, The North American Theological Coalition, The Republic of Texas and Atlantyz\n\nThese are the names of the new nations of North America\n\nEach one carving out territory as is their wont\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe Union of Territories could have called itself Icebox Nation\n\nWashington, Oregon, British Columbia, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and what was the Dakotas\n\nAll that territory is part of the Union\n\nAs well as what as called the Yukon and Northwest Territories\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe Nation of Latter Day Saints is one of two religious nations but also the smallest\n\nUtah, Nevada and what's left of California are what it controls\n\nHeavily religious but as long as that's your faith you're all set\n\nBut only humans have rights, Chimeras like me and simulacrum have no rights\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe Republic of Texas is another large nation of not just Texas\n\nOklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Arizona and all of Mexico (Old and New)\n\nNatives of Old Mexico don't like gringos ordering them around\n\nTexas wants Mississippi too but Atlantyz has that territory.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAtlantyz is where I live by choice and it claims the entire Eastern sea board\n\nFrom Newfoundland, Labrador and Quebec up north\n\nThrough to Florida, Alabama and Mississippi in the south\n\nThe Philadelphia Metroplex in the Province of Pennsylvania is its capital\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe North American Theological Coalition controls everything else\n\nOutside of the free cities like Chicago that is\n\nAnd they are always looking to expand\n\nBut the NAT-Cs are the worst when it comes to non-human rights\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhat the heck is a chimera?\n\nWell, in our world chimera is a catch all term\n\nFor anyone who has enough animal and human DNA combined\n\nTo look like a humanoid and humanized animal\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nIn 2112 the furry community loves us and we love them\n\nWe Chimeras consider those humans still in the Furry Fandom our family\n\nI have not missed an Antrocon, Fur Fright or Fur Affinity United if I could help it\n\nIt's one of the reasons I love Atlantyz\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nPsychics are everywhere now but more prevalent among hybrids\n\nEspecially Chimeras like me\n\nThe more oppressive nations have trained their citizens to fear us\n\nI'd be shot on sight in Des Moines, the NATC capital for instance\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWho am I?\n\nMy name is Kodyax Byzarrowulf and I'm a kind of Psychic Street Samurai\n\nI have human, wolf and bear DNA all mixed up in one package\n\nMy job takes me all around the world because folks think I'm good\n\nAnd I do my best not to disappoint them\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
