But not directly based on them.

Moongleam Lake. A lake in the mountains, some has said that the lake is on the border of the Dragon Valley. It was said that Pupil Peak was the default border between the wilderness and the valley of the Dragons. The lake itself sat in a caldera, a collapsed volcano. A forest rings the lake and the ancient volcano floor provides the foundation for an abundance of life. A mixed broadleaf and pine forest ringed the caldera: as the forest was composed of quaking aspens, birches, and alders mixed with needleleaf trees of the pine, spruce, and fir varieties. Various birds and animals inhabited this forest.

Including one Aspis. Aspis was a green scaled, four legged, two winged, two horned dragon who had entered adolescence just two years before. Although his body was developing powerful muscles and he had gone through his second growth spurt, the dragon was still the size of a pony. Soon his third growth spurt will make him larger than a bison. But now he was lounging on the border of the forest and the meadow which turned into the beach of the lake.

Aspis came here to escape his brothers, who always chided him for being their fourth little sister. It was true, Aspis lacked the aggression that his brothers had. While his brothers had preferred the more aggressive dragon games in their spare time, Aspis liked walking alone along the lake outside the Valley. Like all dragons, he was naked and scaled, and did not need covering to protect him from the heat or the cold.

Aspis, however, was fascinated with one part of nature. Humans. He wondered about them, he wondered what they were like. How they were like, why they were so aggressive, and what makes them tick. After all, Aspis wanted to if a human really was a killer or not. For years, his father warned him of humans. "The human," he said. "Is an opportunistic predator that would kill a dragon on site. They are dangerous to dragonkind!"

However, what really piqued his curiosity was the fact that he espied on his father mating with what his father called a human. A specimen that had long stringy fur in one place on it's body, with bulging orbs on its chest, and a curvy form. He tried to confront his father with his, who avoided the issue. His father told him to forget about it. Well, there was a problem, he couldn't forget about it. He really desired to meet a human.

Aspis turned around, revealing his belly to the sky. Something a predator does not do, and stared into the blue sky. His eyes, big and around, were green and glinting. He wondered when he will get to meet a human before turning around and taking a nap.

\\*\\*\\*\\*

What seemed like an hour later, something made Aspis awaken. There was something strange going on over at the falls, which drains into the lake. He saw something strange. He made his way to the falls so he could get a closer look.

Aspis saw a two legged being standing on a rock. It looked like the thing that his father mated with. Hair, two eyes, a nose, standing on two legs. Unlike the thing that his father mated with, it seemed to be covered in dead plant fibers, with its boots made of dead cattle skin that was somehow, preserved. It wasn't like the animal that his father had mated with earlier. This animal was based on straight lines, and it had a fiercer look than the other, which had a more vulnerable look. Satisfied, the animal took off the top section of his woven plant fibers, revealing his skin and the muscles below them.

Aspis was very curious. How can this animal shed it's outer skin so readily. He watched the strange animal do some curious movements with its arms and then close it's eyes. Then, Aspis saw something unbelieveable. Something appeared in the animal's front paw completely out of thin air . . . The animal then used the shovel to dig around the area below the water. The animal did this several times, until the animal looked directly at Aspis.

The animal's eyes and Aspis' eyes locked. The eyes were beautiful, innocent, blue, and glinting. In the eyes was the fire of youth and beauty, not the eyes of a monster. The eyes looked accepting, deep, and enchanting. Aspis ducked, and turned. He felt a combination of fear and . . . attraction? Aspis' own equipment shuddered and peaked out of his slit. Aspis stared face to face with a human and looked into the eyes of one. It made his heart race. It was a moment he could never forget.

Aspis returned to the lair. His lair was still his father's and mother's. Unlike reds, who force their children to find their own lairs, forest dragons are a family until the father can properly prepare his children for forest dragon society.

The lair was huge. Composed of some six caverns. One cavern was the entrance, and it had little stalactites and stalagmites. There was even a hole in the ceiling that let sunlight down. Aspis traveled to his cavern, which he had to himself for the past two years. His brothers had gone into their third growth spurt, and left to find lairs of their own. Aspis plopped down on his little horde.

"Aspis, is everything alright?" asked his mother.

"Yes, mother," said Aspis. "Everything is okay."

His mother then said, "Dinner's waiting for you, little one."

"Alright, mother, I'll be there," Aspis replied. He had time to think, to dream. The human was real, the human was different than what his father had said of them. Definitely two legged, two arms, he walked upright, wore what seemed like a second skin, and didn't seem to be all that dangerous. His dick still stuck through his cloacal slit. Aspis wondered what it will be like to meet this human and to prove for himself if he's dangerous or not.

"}
