Chap 37_**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"So he hasn't taken the tests yet?\"  \nBlue was now scratching his head in confusion.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Nope\" Rena smiled.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Tests?\" Axel asked.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**'_Oh the  \ntests..._ ' Black hissed, '_I forgot all  \nabout them..._ '**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Yeah,\" Blue nodded, \"Three separate  \ntrials used to see if your worthy of becoming a mate to the female you chose.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"It's almost always given by the head  \nof the female's clan.\" Rena clarified, her poor Axel looked so confused... or was  \nthat scared. \"But seeing as how you're not a digi...\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Rena?\" Axel whispered. \"Should I be  \nworried?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"I don't think so.\" She shrugged.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Axel and Rena looked at each other, yet  \nafter a moment they gave a casual shrug and continued their journey towards the  \nvillage. By now they had left the hill behind and were walking the dirt road  \nthat led down into town. Meanwhile Blue followed along behind, trying his best  \nto understand Rena's new way of thinking... and failing badly.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"So not only did you disobey your mother  \nby running off to the human world. You also went and broke some of our most  \nsacred laws when you took a mate without the permission of your clan's leader.\"  \nThe blue Renamon snorted. His disgust for the yellow runt before him was  \ngrowing. \"Now you've come back in time to be captured by the most evil of  \nhumans who just so happens to need your blood and body to call forth the dark  \ngod... and you think you're here to help us?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"I _am_ here to help! We are going  \nto take Josh down and free this valley!\" Rena shot back. Yet as she spoke her  \nwords, something seemed to tug at her mind. \"Hey... Wait just a fucking moment,  \nif everyone is being kept prisoner... how come you're free to run about  \nunchecked?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Fuzzywig allowed a few of us to remain  \nfree, he uses us to keep the valley running and as spies.\" Blue shrugged. \"It's  \nbetter than being in that death trap and the freedom allows us to sneak food to  \nthe others from time to time.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**At this point Axel, shaking his head  \nslowly, continued to walk on, his destination the fountain in the center of  \ntown. Behind him he could still hear Rena and Renamon's voices as their  \nargument increased in its intensity. He had stopped paying attention to their  \nheated debate on duty to one's family no matter how they treat you when you're  \na young Pokomon... and loss of personal honor by working with the enemy, almost  \nas soon as it had started.\u0026nbsp;**\n\n  \n  \n\n**They were still arguing as the small  \ngroup of three passed the last of the rice farms.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"Wow,\" said a hooded figure that had  \nsidled up next to Axel from out of nowhere. \"How long have they been going on  \nlike that?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Ever since that little hill just  \noutside of town,\" Axel sighed as he slowed his walking pace. This allowed the  \nowner of the new voice to keep up with his long legged strides. \"The one with  \nthe thick bushes on top of it.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Hmmm... better reinforce the guards.\"  \nthe voice muttered, more to itself as it fell in line, then to Axel, \"They  \nfight like old friends who have found themselves on opposites ends of a war.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"That they do.\" Axel nodded. \"Speaking  \nof which, how has life been treating you?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Well, the insane asylum was no picnic,  \nbut I'm doing quite well for myself now... thanks for asking.\" The voice  \nanswered. \"How about yourself, I hear that you got married to your digimon?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Boy...word really gets around fast  \ndoesn't it?\" Axel smiled. \"But yeah Josh, we got hitched.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"So how did it happen?\" Josh wondered,  \n\"I mean, I thought you had sworn to remain a bachelor until the end?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**By now Rena had stopped arguing with  \nRenamon and again, found herself put off by Josh's appearance. '_By the gods,  \neven his voice is feminine_ ,' she thought. Here, even up close to the man...  \nJosh... looked so much like a young teenage girl. This gender freak seemed so  \nfragile to Rena... hard to believe he had brought so much destruction to her home  \nworld.\u0026nbsp;**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"It all happened about a month or so  \nback, after fighting an armored digi-rabbit\" Axel began. \"It caused Rena to go  \ninto heat early and well... one thing just led to another.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"And you married a humanoid digi-fox.\"  \nJosh finished for him.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"There was a lot of sex first... but  \nyeah,\" Axel joked. \"We decided to become mates...\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"And then you got hitched?\" Josh  \nfinished.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"It's not like I planed it to happen.\"  \nAxel shrugged, \"It just did.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Oh come on, you've always had a thing  \nfor furries.\" Josh giggled as he reached out and gave Axel a playful punch on  \nthe arm. \"And now you're living the dream of every yiffer and furry fan alive...\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**The two Renamon were by now following  \nalong in a stunned silence. Here was the great Fuzzywig and his mortal enemy  \nAxel, walking along side by side down the disserted street of an occupied town,  \nas friendly as you please. They acted like they had just bumped into each other  \nat the mall and were reminiscing the old days. This had really thrown Rena for  \na loop.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Well, I'm glad you finally found a  \nlover and a mate, especially after that fiasco with Rose.\" Josh smiled as they  \ncame to a stop in front of the big fountain. \"I'm just sorry it won't last  \nafter today.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"I take it you're referring to the  \nBlackRenamon?\" Axel was now studying the statue of Sakuyamon that stood in the  \nfountain.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Yes\" Josh replied with a solemn nod.  \n\"I'm going to use your Renamon to call him forth and make you watch as I have  \nhim destroy and murder everything in this valley.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Sounds like you have a plan.\" Axel  \nsighed.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"That I do,\" Josh nodded. \"However,  \nyou're not in my plans after today.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Will you at least tell me what your  \nplans are before you kill me off?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Sorry to disappoint you there, but I  \nwon't be killing you... mores the pity.\" Josh shook his head as he turned and  \nregarded his old friend. \"I have been given orders that you're not to be  \nharmed. As for my plans... this isn't one of your cartoons Axel, I'm not  \nobligated to tell you anything.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You've been given orders? By who?\"  \nAxel asked in surprise.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You will know soon enough.\" Josh  \nteased.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Ok, fine.\" Axel sighed, his shoulders  \nslumping slightly. \"You win... now release the hostages... let the children go  \nhome.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Why should I do that?\" Josh said as a  \nwicked smile crossed his lips. \"Now that I have you and your Renamon, I hold  \nall the cards. Now no one can stop me.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"But... But the deal was...\" Axel  \nstammered.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Unfortunately Josh wasn't listening.  \n\"GUARDS!\" he called out. Within seconds the town square was filled with 6  \ndrooling Allomon and 4 Ogremon. \"Oh, and I'll be taking your D-arc...\" Josh  \nquipped as 2 of the Ogremon took hold of Axel's arms. \"Not like your ever going  \nto need it again.\" With that Josh snatched the digi-vice off Axel's belt and  \nturned toward Rena.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Now then little Renamon...\" Josh was  \nsmiling as the other 2 Ogremon took their place on either side of her. \"You and  \nI are going to have a nice long chat about how to bring forth the  \nBlackRenamon.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"And if I refuse?\" she asked.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Then I will damn my orders and kill  \nyour lover where he stands.\" Josh said softly.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Rena shivered as she watched Josh  \napproach her. She had no doubt that he would do as he threatened. \"You will  \nfirst need to make sure you have the proper sacrifices.\" Her voice quivered as  \nshe went on. \"They must still have innocent blood in their veins or he will  \nrefuse the offering and become uncontrollable.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"Well that's easy enough,\" Josh said as  \nhe gave a quick order to the blue Renamon. \"Renamon, bring forth the chosen.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Blue quickly nodded and hurried off to  \na nearby building that had once been a hotel for travelers. Moments later he  \nreappeared and with him, the sacrifices. Rena was able to keep her cool as one  \nby one the innocent were lead out. That was until she glimpsed the one who  \nwould take the place of the human sacrifice.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Standing between a female Gazimon and a  \nfemale Veemon was Sabrina, Frank's 4-year-old daughter. Her little pink Sunday  \ndress was ripped and dirty, her black hair a mess... yet the girl didn't seem  \nscared or frightened.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"No... not her,\" Rena whimpered as she  \ntried to rush forward. Yet before she could move, the 2 Ogremon had stepped in  \nfront of her and blocked her way. Only now did she finally understand Axel's  \nneed to confront Josh face to face. Why Frank had looked so horrible when she  \nlast saw him. And then there was his cryptic goodbye to Axel before they left.  \nPieces of a giant puzzle were coming together... and the picture it formed was an  \nugly one.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"So you know the human do you?\" Josh  \nflashed a smile at her.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Yes I do,\" Rena said as she struggled  \nto get around the Ogremon, alas to no  \navail.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Hmmm, this could prove to be  \ninteresting after all.\" Josh mused as he watched Rena.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Why?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Why what?\" Josh asked with a tilt of  \nhis head.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Why her?\" Rena demanded. \"Why are you  \ninvolving her in your revenge against my Axel?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Because Frank was the one running the  \ngame where I died.\" He snarled, his smile growing cold. \"Because Axel is her  \ngodfather, because she was the only human I knew who still held innocent blood,  \ntake your pick.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You're a monster...\" Rena snapped.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You hear that Ax...\" he asked as he  \nturned to his old friend, only to find that there was no one standing between  \nthe two Ogremon who stood next to the fountain. Clinching his fists in rage,  \nJosh locked his gaze on the two digimon and growled. \"Will one of you please  \ntell me were your prisoner is?\" Josh began, his voice getting deeper and louder  \nwith anger. \"Or do I have to DELETE YOU WERE YOU FUCKING STAND!!\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Rena was so surprised by Josh's dip  \ninto being Fuzzywig that she almost flinched. The only other person she had  \nseen shift emotional states that quick, was Axel. So for a brief moment, Rena  \nwas able to glimpse the man that had taken over her village.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Both the Ogremon jumped at threat and  \nfranticly began to look about. As for Josh, the veins on his head were so  \npronounced that he looked to be on the verge of an aneurysm. But then, it's not  \neveryday that his most hated enemy disappears right before his very eyes.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Umm... Fuzzywig... Sir?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"WHAT!\" Josh spun around, ready to kill  \nthe owner of the voice. Yet he stopped dead when he found it coming from the  \nblue male Renamon who was guarding the sacrifices. Kneeling in front of  \nSabrina, with his back to Josh, was Axel. He could see that the two were  \ntalking softly about something, but that didn't mater. With his face turning  \ncrimson, Josh barked out an order... the first of his mistakes. \"Will someone  \nplease restrain that man!?!\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Blue, taking the order to mean him and  \nthinking that Axel was a harmless human, stepped around Sabrina and grasped  \nAxel's left shoulder. It happened so fast that no one had time to question or  \nreact to it. Axel was just a blur; he had suddenly stood up and slammed an open  \npalm into Blue's chest. Electricity arced over the Renamon, his body jerked and  \ntwitched for several seconds before felling unconscious at Axel's feet.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Rena, the two Ogremon holding her, and  \nFuzzywig all stood frozen in place. No one said or did anything, they just  \nwatched as Axel stepped over the fallen Renamon. \"I don't like them.\" Axel said  \nin a flat tone.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**With Axel acting as a blocker, no one  \nwitnessed as Sabrina bent down and pulled something off of blue's chest.  \nQuickly she slipped the object into a tiny pocket in her dress, just like Axel  \nhad told her to do...**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Huh?\" Josh had a bewildered look on  \nhis face and didn't seem to understand what the hell was going on. Nor did he  \nunderstand why Axel was marching toward him. Luckily for Josh, the two Ogremon  \nat the fountain realized that their leader was about to be attacked and tried  \nto intervene. Both would die a horrible death.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Their battle cry echoed through the  \nvalley as they charged the human, their clubs raised high. This of course drew  \nthe attention of at least a dozen of Josh's soldiers who were stationed around  \nthe town's square, including the 5 tower guards around the prison. None of this  \nseemed to faze Axel who looked almost bored as he calmly ducked between the two  \ndigimon swinging weapons.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"DARK LIGHTNING FIST!\" he cried out as  \nhe drove a fist into the Ogremon on the right's belly. Blue sparks danced over  \nthe digimon as the first of Axel's DarkHumon attacks went off. Like the blue  \nRenamon, the Ogremon's body twitched as high voltage electricity raped his  \nnervous system.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**The second Ogre, seeing his buddy in  \ntrouble, swung his mighty club at the human's head... only Axel had suddenly  \ndisappeared. Unable to stop his swing, the Ogremon watched helplessly as his  \nhuge club smashed into his comrade's face. Red mist splattered across the  \nSakuyamon statue as the first Ogremon's skull split opened like a ripe  \nwatermelon.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**But the carnage didn't stop there for  \nAxel was suddenly back. Clinching his hands into one big fist, he swung at the  \nOgremon's back. \"DARK THUNDER WAVE!!\" he yelled out.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Rena quickly turned away as she  \nrealized what her mate was doing. Thunder wave was an attack that spawned  \nsmall, yet high-powered earthquakes. The attack was never meant to be used on a  \nliving creature, yet Axel needed to make a show of this battle. Yes, Axel was  \nout to make a distraction, and by the Sovereign, that's exactly what he had  \njust done.\u0026nbsp;**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\u0026nbsp;By now, anyone who could see the  \nsquare were so entranced on the battle taking place, that they just couldn't  \nlook away.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\u0026nbsp;The Ogremon convulsed as his body  \nwas rocked by its own version of a 7.5 earthquake... centered at the base of the  \ndigimon's spine. Everyone in the village square watched in horrified silence as  \nthe Ogremon's body vibrated itself to death. The sound of strong bones turning  \nquickly to powder, as they were smashed back and forth inside his jerking skin  \nwas sickening, to say the least.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\u0026nbsp;Finally the Ogre let out a  \ngurgling scream of pain, before spitting his guts out onto the cobble stone  \nstreet.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\u0026nbsp;\"W... What the hell just  \nhappened!?\" Josh demanded as the Ogremon slumped and died.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"I don't think Axel likes your  \nsacrifices.\" Rena guessed.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"So?\" Josh snarled as he rounded on the  \nsmiling Renamon. \"They aren't meant for him, they are for the BlackRenamon.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Kimmy,\" Mary hissed as she lowered her  \nbinoculars. \"I think I found it.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Where,\" Kimmy asked from her hiding  \nplace.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Mary was referring to the large machine  \nthat rumbled and chugged at the base of guard tower number 3. The machine was  \nattached to the fence that encircled the prison and kept the digimon inside.  \nSupposedly the thing was able to block the natural abilities and powers of any  \ndigimon trapped within its confines. According to Brian, it was just one of the  \nvariant inventions that Josh had created for use in the Digital World.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Mary could only guess that it really  \nworked. There was just no other way to keep a Renamon prisoner, not when they could  \nsimply teleport to someplace safe. \"It's off to the left of tower three,\" Mary  \nsaid as she ducked down and turned toward her team. \"I have my target, how  \nabout you?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Ready and waiting,\" Kimmy nodded as  \nshe looked to her Angewomon. \"What do you say Cleo?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Just give the word,\" nodded the angel,  \n\"and I'll take out the tower guards quickly and quietly.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**At this point Mary and her daughter had  \nbeen waiting for Axel's signal to begin their attack on the backside of the  \nprison. When the echoing battle cry of the Ogremon had reached their hiding  \nspot, and the guards on the watchtowers had looked away to watch the town  \nsquare... their time had finally come.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**The eldest Benden sibling took one last  \nlook at the prison, and then nodded. \"Ok girls...\" she said as she reached up and  \ngave the goggles that sat atop her head a rub for luck. \"Let's go!\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Ummm?\" Leomon blinked.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Leo... now is not the time to quarrel  \nover gender.\" Mary hushed him before dragging the lion man down the hill.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Keeping as low as possible, the partners  \nquickly crept to within a few feet of the huge fence. With a nod from Kimmy,  \nCleo stood and fired her \"Celestial Arrow\", one at each of the two Goblinmon,  \nthe rookie version of Ogremon. Both of the smaller digimon were deleted without  \nmaking a sound.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Ok Leo...\" Mary said as she gave her  \nlover a push, \"your turn.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Right!\" Leo nodded as he pulled his  \nsword and stepped up to the fence. He had to be careful to leave some of 15  \nfoot fence intact so as to not raise an alarm.\u0026nbsp; With a low growl, Leo  \npulled back and slashed... he was grinning ear to ear as a large section of the  \nfence folded in on its self and dropped to the ground. Turning toward his mate,  \n\"Ladies first.\" he bowed slightly as he ushered his new family through the  \n9-foot tall doorway.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Thank you dear.\" Mary smiled as she  \nstepped through.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Thank you daddy...\" Cleo and Kimmy both  \nteased as they followed.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Leo rolled his eyes, as he gave out a  \ngroan then ducked and followed.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**At this point things became rather  \ntricky for Mary and her daughter. While Kimmy and Cleo skirted around the  \nprison taking out the other 3 tower guards, Mary and Leo did their best keeping  \nthe digimon prisoners they encountered quiet.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**It would only take one howl of joy to  \nend this party but quick.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Still it didn't take long for word to  \nspread that a rescue was at hand. Even without being asked or told, many of the  \nprisoners began to ready themselves and the nearby children... there was no  \ntelling how far or fast they would have to travel to be free.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Axel \u0026 Rena. Chap  \n38**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"I don't think your getting the picture  \nhere...\" Rena growled as she grabbed Josh and dragged him aside. Axel was on the  \nwarpath and had zeroed in on his next two opponents, the Ogremon that stood to  \neither side of his mate. This meant that Rena had to pull Josh out of the path  \nof destruction, not that she wanted to. \"You have no clue as to what the  \nBlackRenamon really is.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"What the hell are you babbling on  \nabout, bitch?\" Josh demanded as behind him an Ogremon received an electric  \npunch to the groin.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"All this time you have been looking....  \nOH, that's got to hurt.\" Rena flinched as the ogre doubled over in pain. With a  \nshake of her head, she tried to continue. \"Look, you have been searching for  \nthe most evil of digimon alive, scouring both worlds looking for the key to  \ncall him forth...\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"Since when could Axel do that?\" Josh  \nsounded stunned, he had turned away from Rena and was watching the battle,  \nsuddenly there were three Ogremon standing in the square looking rather lost as  \nto were Axel had gone.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You're not listening to me!\" Rena said  \nas she stepped around in front of Josh. \"You have hurt digimon and children  \nalike, you have wreaked havoc and destruction on two worlds, and you have  \nthreatened the lives of myself, my mate, and our unborn pups... all because you  \ncan't tell fantasy from reality.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Don't say that!\" Josh snapped back, he  \nwasn't used to any digimon talking to him in this way, nor was he going to let  \nher continue. \"You have no clue as to what reality is or how cruel it can be.  \nYou and your kind live only to serve humans as pets and playthings, to digimon,  \nlife is but a funny little game...**\n\n  \n  \n\n**So what would you know about what hell  \nreally is? What would you know about peer pressure? What would you know about  \nbeing bullied and living life as a walking bruise just because you're  \ndifferent, when each Renamon is an exact copy of the next. How can you possibly  \nstand there and judge me?!?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Meanwhile, the Ogremon were now in  \ntrouble. The third Ogremon, the one who had only appeared a moment ago, had  \nwaited until the others had turned away before acting. With their backs toward  \none another, Axel had stepped in and gently slipped the first Ogremon's weapon  \nfrom his belt. Taking aim, he bonked the second Ogremon on the head with the  \nclub, then quickly replaced it back into the first one's belt... then stood back  \nand watched the chaos ensue.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**And boy did it. It took only seconds  \nfor misunderstanding to escalade and soon the two Ogremon were whaling on each  \nother.\u0026nbsp;**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Rena stood in silence for a moment, her  \neyes locked on Josh. How could she judge this man? Hell, she was the perfect  \njudge; she herself had lived through everything he had and more. \"Fine,\" she  \nslowly nodded, \"I was going to ask you to surrender or maybe end this  \npeacefully. I was going to give you a chance to walk away from the hell you  \nhave inflicted on my kin. I wanted to take pity on you, but now I see you as  \nAxel does.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Pity, I don't need or want your pity,  \nbitch!\" Josh snarled as he lashed out in rage, catching Rena completely off  \nguard. In a flash the human's fist slammed into the digimon's snout and sent  \nher sprawling to the ground. Axel had been right, the moment Josh took his  \nD-arc, he stopped seeing the lovers as a threat. Only now when his eyes  \nglimpsed the device in her hand, did he start to realize that he may be in  \ntrouble. \"Then you got him.\" she hissed as she spun around to face Axel, her  \nD-3 held high above her head. \"Axel...\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\u0026nbsp;It only took a second for Josh to  \nlook at the D-arc he had taken from Axel, for it was still in his hand. Only  \nnow did he see that the devices screen, something that should have been  \nflashing updates on Rena's power level, was instead...blank. He had no way of  \ntelling that the device in the digi-fox's hand went to Axel.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Oh no you don't,\" Josh hissed through  \nhis teeth. Tossing the D-arc aside, he quickly sprang forward and grabbed her  \noutstretched arm from behind. At the same time he pressed something sharp to  \nher throat as he pulled her back against his chest. \"Make one false move...\" he  \nwhispered hotly into her ear, \"and I'll spill your blood all over the street.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Axel was sitting on the edge of the  \nfountain watching the Ogremon bash each other's skulls in when he had herd  \nRena's call. Quickly he stood and readied himself for the rush of energy that  \nwould start his evolution... not that he really needed her to digi-volve. Yes,  \neverything was going as planned. At the same time, the world had gone into  \nslow motion. What more was the sudden burning pain in his right shoulder as  \nsomething hit him with enough force to spin him around and drop him to the  \nground. His chaotic mind just couldn't follow the events and was now in a state  \nof shock.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Rena stood stock still, her life  \nflashing before her as she felt Josh's arm suddenly jerk. Even the  \ntwo Ogremon, who were more black and blue than green, were silently watching.  \nIt was only after Axel had stepped past her that Rena saw what had happened to  \nJosh.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Though his mouth opened and closed, the  \nhuman uttered no sound. Yes, there at Rena's feet was the great and powerful  \nFuzzywig. He was lying in a pool of his own blood, his right arm shattered at  \nthe shoulder from were the bullet had struck him. The only other thing moving  \nwas the madman's wild eyes, darting back n forth between herself and Axel.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Pity once again filled Rena's heart,  \npity and sorrow.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Rena...\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Err...\" The sound of Axel's voice made  \nher flinch and look up, he had put the pistol away and had knelt next to Josh.  \n\"Yes dear?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"I want you to go and help Blue get  \nSabrina and the others to safety.\" Axel said as he looked up into her eyes.  \n\"But first I need you to finish what you started... it's time to let Black out.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**Standing as close as she was, Rena  \ndidn't need to call out a warning; she just nodded her head and pressed the  \nbutton on her digi-vice. She had to take a step back as the light of his  \ntransformation took her mate. As Axel reached the pentacle of his evolution,  \nshe then added his armor of Set and waited.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**If Rena didn't think Josh's eyes could  \nget any wider, she was wrong. Upon seeing the very creature he had been trying  \nto find, now kneeling over him, Josh began to struggle and whimper.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Now go love...\" BlackSetRenamon said, in  \nhis deep growly voice. \"Get the young to safety.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"What about you,\" she asked as she took  \na step back. \"What are you going to do?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"I'm going to finish this...\" was all he  \nsaid.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Rena knew better then to argue to her  \nmate's darker half, so with a slight nod, she turned and ran over to Sabrina.  \nShe arrived at the girl's side just as the blue Renamon was waking up and though  \nshe felt like kicking him, she really did need his help. \"Wake up Renamon...\" she  \nsnapped at him as she hefted the young girl into her arms. \"I need you to  \nteleport Gazimon and Veemon here, to Kitsune peak.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"Huh... why?\" Blue asked as she slowly  \nstruggled to stand. He really wasn't sure what the human named Axel had hit him  \nwith... but boy did it take a lot out of him. He was just getting to his feet  \nwhen he caught a dark blur out of the corner of his yellow eyes. \"By the  \nSovereign...\" he cursed as he saw the fabled BlackRenamon for the first time.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Renamon...\" Rena was using a stern tone  \nnow. \"Get your ass in gear.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You...you really did it,\" Renamon  \ngasped, \"You called forth the evil one.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"No shit Sherlock!\" Rena was getting  \nsnappy for the world around her was turning funny shades of gray. \"Are you  \ngoing to help or not?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Blue, help Rena!\" This sharp command  \ncame from, of all people, Sabrina. It seemed to jar the Renamon male back to  \nthe problem at hand and had surprised Rena. The male really wasn't ready to take  \norders from a little girl, yet before he could tell her to go to hell; she had  \npulled out a strange looking digi-vice. \"I'm your new tamer,\" she said as she  \nlocked eyes with him. \"Now do as I say!\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**Blue was stunned as he bent down and  \npicked up the two young female digimon. He just couldn't help himself. He found  \nthat he had to do what ever Sabrina told him... funny thing was, he found himself  \nwanting to do more for her.**\n\n  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n**\"Where to, again?\" he asked Rena.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Kitsune peak,\" she repeated.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Very well,\" he nodded, and then was  \ngone.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**There was a huge collection of digimon  \natop Kitsune peek when Rena arrived. Most were milling about wondering what was  \ngoing on in the valley; others were trying to take care of the scared and  \nfrightened children. Keeping Sabrina with her, Rena quickly sought out Mary and  \nKimmy, only to have them find her first.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Oh, thank God you made it out of  \nthere.\" Kimmy said as she ran up to her aunt.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Yeah,\" Mary sighed as she moved up and  \ntook Sabrina from Rena's arms. \"We didn't think anyone else was going to show  \nup.\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Whoa...\" Rena said as she held up a  \nhand. \"What are you two talking about?\"**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"You mean... you haven't seen it yet?\"  \nthis was from Cleo.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\"Seen what?\" Rena asked.**\n\n  \n  \n\n**\u0026nbsp;To her amazement, the entire mass  \nof digimon suddenly parted and Rena found herself looking at a huge lake of  \nblackness. Slowly she crept past her kith and kin and up to the edge of the  \npeak. The entire valley had been filled up with a black mass that ended less  \nthen a foot from the edge of the peak.
