Blue was now scratching his head in confusion.** **"Nope" Rena smiled.** **"Tests?" Axel asked.** **'_Oh the tests..._ ' Black hissed, '_I forgot all about them..._ '** **"Yeah," Blue nodded, "Three separate trials used to see if your worthy of becoming a mate to the female you chose."** **"It's almost always given by the head of the female's clan." Rena clarified, her poor Axel looked so confused... or was that scared. "But seeing as how you're not a digi..."** **"Rena?" Axel whispered. "Should I be worried?"** **"I don't think so." She shrugged.** **Axel and Rena looked at each other, yet after a moment they gave a casual shrug and continued their journey towards the village. By now they had left the hill behind and were walking the dirt road that led down into town. Meanwhile Blue followed along behind, trying his best to understand Rena's new way of thinking... and failing badly.** **"So not only did you disobey your mother by running off to the human world. You also went and broke some of our most sacred laws when you took a mate without the permission of your clan's leader." The blue Renamon snorted. His disgust for the yellow runt before him was growing. "Now you've come back in time to be captured by the most evil of humans who just so happens to need your blood and body to call forth the dark god... and you think you're here to help us?"**   **"I _am_ here to help! We are going to take Josh down and free this valley!" Rena shot back. Yet as she spoke her words, something seemed to tug at her mind. "Hey... Wait just a fucking moment, if everyone is being kept prisoner... how come you're free to run about unchecked?"** **"Fuzzywig allowed a few of us to remain free, he uses us to keep the valley running and as spies." Blue shrugged. "It's better than being in that death trap and the freedom allows us to sneak food to the others from time to time."** **At this point Axel, shaking his head slowly, continued to walk on, his destination the fountain in the center of town. Behind him he could still hear Rena and Renamon's voices as their argument increased in its intensity. He had stopped paying attention to their heated debate on duty to one's family no matter how they treat you when you're a young Pokomon... and loss of personal honor by working with the enemy, almost as soon as it had started. ** **They were still arguing as the small group of three passed the last of the rice farms.**   **"Wow," said a hooded figure that had sidled up next to Axel from out of nowhere. "How long have they been going on like that?"** **"Ever since that little hill just outside of town," Axel sighed as he slowed his walking pace. This allowed the owner of the new voice to keep up with his long legged strides. "The one with the thick bushes on top of it."** **"Hmmm... better reinforce the guards." the voice muttered, more to itself as it fell in line, then to Axel, "They fight like old friends who have found themselves on opposites ends of a war."** **"That they do." Axel nodded. "Speaking of which, how has life been treating you?"** **"Well, the insane asylum was no picnic, but I'm doing quite well for myself now... thanks for asking." The voice answered. "How about yourself, I hear that you got married to your digimon?"** **"Boy...word really gets around fast doesn't it?" Axel smiled. "But yeah Josh, we got hitched."** **"So how did it happen?" Josh wondered, "I mean, I thought you had sworn to remain a bachelor until the end?"** **By now Rena had stopped arguing with Renamon and again, found herself put off by Josh's appearance. '_By the gods, even his voice is feminine_ ,' she thought. Here, even up close to the man... Josh... looked so much like a young teenage girl. This gender freak seemed so fragile to Rena... hard to believe he had brought so much destruction to her home world. **   **"It all happened about a month or so back, after fighting an armored digi-rabbit" Axel began. "It caused Rena to go into heat early and well... one thing just led to another."** **"And you married a humanoid digi-fox." Josh finished for him.** **"There was a lot of sex first... but yeah," Axel joked. "We decided to become mates..."** **"And then you got hitched?" Josh finished.** **"It's not like I planed it to happen." Axel shrugged, "It just did."** **"Oh come on, you've always had a thing for furries." Josh giggled as he reached out and gave Axel a playful punch on the arm. "And now you're living the dream of every yiffer and furry fan alive..."** **The two Renamon were by now following along in a stunned silence. Here was the great Fuzzywig and his mortal enemy Axel, walking along side by side down the disserted street of an occupied town, as friendly as you please. They acted like they had just bumped into each other at the mall and were reminiscing the old days. This had really thrown Rena for a loop.** **"Well, I'm glad you finally found a lover and a mate, especially after that fiasco with Rose." Josh smiled as they came to a stop in front of the big fountain. "I'm just sorry it won't last after today."**   **"I take it you're referring to the BlackRenamon?" Axel was now studying the statue of Sakuyamon that stood in the fountain.** **"Yes" Josh replied with a solemn nod. "I'm going to use your Renamon to call him forth and make you watch as I have him destroy and murder everything in this valley."** **"Sounds like you have a plan." Axel sighed.** **"That I do," Josh nodded. "However, you're not in my plans after today."** **"Will you at least tell me what your plans are before you kill me off?"** **"Sorry to disappoint you there, but I won't be killing you... mores the pity." Josh shook his head as he turned and regarded his old friend. "I have been given orders that you're not to be harmed. As for my plans... this isn't one of your cartoons Axel, I'm not obligated to tell you anything."** **"You've been given orders? By who?" Axel asked in surprise.** **"You will know soon enough." Josh teased.** **"Ok, fine." Axel sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "You win... now release the hostages... let the children go home.** **"Why should I do that?" Josh said as a wicked smile crossed his lips. "Now that I have you and your Renamon, I hold all the cards. Now no one can stop me."**   **"But... But the deal was..." Axel stammered.** **Unfortunately Josh wasn't listening. "GUARDS!" he called out. Within seconds the town square was filled with 6 drooling Allomon and 4 Ogremon. "Oh, and I'll be taking your D-arc..." Josh quipped as 2 of the Ogremon took hold of Axel's arms. "Not like your ever going to need it again." With that Josh snatched the digi-vice off Axel's belt and turned toward Rena.** **"Now then little Renamon..." Josh was smiling as the other 2 Ogremon took their place on either side of her. "You and I are going to have a nice long chat about how to bring forth the BlackRenamon."** **"And if I refuse?" she asked.** **"Then I will damn my orders and kill your lover where he stands." Josh said softly.** **Rena shivered as she watched Josh approach her. She had no doubt that he would do as he threatened. "You will first need to make sure you have the proper sacrifices." Her voice quivered as she went on. "They must still have innocent blood in their veins or he will refuse the offering and become uncontrollable."**   **"Well that's easy enough," Josh said as he gave a quick order to the blue Renamon. "Renamon, bring forth the chosen."** **Blue quickly nodded and hurried off to a nearby building that had once been a hotel for travelers. Moments later he reappeared and with him, the sacrifices. Rena was able to keep her cool as one by one the innocent were lead out. That was until she glimpsed the one who would take the place of the human sacrifice.** **Standing between a female Gazimon and a female Veemon was Sabrina, Frank's 4-year-old daughter. Her little pink Sunday dress was ripped and dirty, her black hair a mess... yet the girl didn't seem scared or frightened.** **"No... not her," Rena whimpered as she tried to rush forward. Yet before she could move, the 2 Ogremon had stepped in front of her and blocked her way. Only now did she finally understand Axel's need to confront Josh face to face. Why Frank had looked so horrible when she last saw him. And then there was his cryptic goodbye to Axel before they left. Pieces of a giant puzzle were coming together... and the picture it formed was an ugly one.**   **"So you know the human do you?" Josh flashed a smile at her.** **"Yes I do," Rena said as she struggled to get around the Ogremon, alas to no avail.        ** **"Hmmm, this could prove to be interesting after all." Josh mused as he watched Rena.** **"Why?"** **"Why what?" Josh asked with a tilt of his head.** **"Why her?" Rena demanded. "Why are you involving her in your revenge against my Axel?"** **"Because Frank was the one running the game where I died." He snarled, his smile growing cold. "Because Axel is her godfather, because she was the only human I knew who still held innocent blood, take your pick."** **"You're a monster..." Rena snapped.** **"You hear that Ax..." he asked as he turned to his old friend, only to find that there was no one standing between the two Ogremon who stood next to the fountain. Clinching his fists in rage, Josh locked his gaze on the two digimon and growled. "Will one of you please tell me were your prisoner is?" Josh began, his voice getting deeper and louder with anger. "Or do I have to DELETE YOU WERE YOU FUCKING STAND!!"**   **Rena was so surprised by Josh's dip into being Fuzzywig that she almost flinched. The only other person she had seen shift emotional states that quick, was Axel. So for a brief moment, Rena was able to glimpse the man that had taken over her village.** **Both the Ogremon jumped at threat and franticly began to look about. As for Josh, the veins on his head were so pronounced that he looked to be on the verge of an aneurysm. But then, it's not everyday that his most hated enemy disappears right before his very eyes.** **"Umm... Fuzzywig... Sir?"** **"WHAT!" Josh spun around, ready to kill the owner of the voice. Yet he stopped dead when he found it coming from the blue male Renamon who was guarding the sacrifices. Kneeling in front of Sabrina, with his back to Josh, was Axel. He could see that the two were talking softly about something, but that didn't mater. With his face turning crimson, Josh barked out an order... the first of his mistakes. "Will someone please restrain that man!?!"** **Blue, taking the order to mean him and thinking that Axel was a harmless human, stepped around Sabrina and grasped Axel's left shoulder. It happened so fast that no one had time to question or react to it. Axel was just a blur; he had suddenly stood up and slammed an open palm into Blue's chest. Electricity arced over the Renamon, his body jerked and twitched for several seconds before felling unconscious at Axel's feet.**   **Rena, the two Ogremon holding her, and Fuzzywig all stood frozen in place. No one said or did anything, they just watched as Axel stepped over the fallen Renamon. "I don't like them." Axel said in a flat tone.** **With Axel acting as a blocker, no one witnessed as Sabrina bent down and pulled something off of blue's chest. Quickly she slipped the object into a tiny pocket in her dress, just like Axel had told her to do...** **"Huh?" Josh had a bewildered look on his face and didn't seem to understand what the hell was going on. Nor did he understand why Axel was marching toward him. Luckily for Josh, the two Ogremon at the fountain realized that their leader was about to be attacked and tried to intervene. Both would die a horrible death.** **Their battle cry echoed through the valley as they charged the human, their clubs raised high. This of course drew the attention of at least a dozen of Josh's soldiers who were stationed around the town's square, including the 5 tower guards around the prison. None of this seemed to faze Axel who looked almost bored as he calmly ducked between the two digimon swinging weapons.**   **"DARK LIGHTNING FIST!" he cried out as he drove a fist into the Ogremon on the right's belly. Blue sparks danced over the digimon as the first of Axel's DarkHumon attacks went off. Like the blue Renamon, the Ogremon's body twitched as high voltage electricity raped his nervous system.** **The second Ogre, seeing his buddy in trouble, swung his mighty club at the human's head... only Axel had suddenly disappeared. Unable to stop his swing, the Ogremon watched helplessly as his huge club smashed into his comrade's face. Red mist splattered across the Sakuyamon statue as the first Ogremon's skull split opened like a ripe watermelon.** **But the carnage didn't stop there for Axel was suddenly back. Clinching his hands into one big fist, he swung at the Ogremon's back. "DARK THUNDER WAVE!!" he yelled out.** **Rena quickly turned away as she realized what her mate was doing. Thunder wave was an attack that spawned small, yet high-powered earthquakes. The attack was never meant to be used on a living creature, yet Axel needed to make a show of this battle. Yes, Axel was out to make a distraction, and by the Sovereign, that's exactly what he had just done. **   ** By now, anyone who could see the square were so entranced on the battle taking place, that they just couldn't look away.** ** The Ogremon convulsed as his body was rocked by its own version of a 7.5 earthquake... centered at the base of the digimon's spine. Everyone in the village square watched in horrified silence as the Ogremon's body vibrated itself to death. The sound of strong bones turning quickly to powder, as they were smashed back and forth inside his jerking skin was sickening, to say the least.** ** Finally the Ogre let out a gurgling scream of pain, before spitting his guts out onto the cobble stone street.** ** "W... What the hell just happened!?" Josh demanded as the Ogremon slumped and died.** **"I don't think Axel likes your sacrifices." Rena guessed.** **"So?" Josh snarled as he rounded on the smiling Renamon. "They aren't meant for him, they are for the BlackRenamon."** **"Kimmy," Mary hissed as she lowered her binoculars. "I think I found it."** **"Where," Kimmy asked from her hiding place.** **Mary was referring to the large machine that rumbled and chugged at the base of guard tower number 3. The machine was attached to the fence that encircled the prison and kept the digimon inside. Supposedly the thing was able to block the natural abilities and powers of any digimon trapped within its confines. According to Brian, it was just one of the variant inventions that Josh had created for use in the Digital World.**   **Mary could only guess that it really worked. There was just no other way to keep a Renamon prisoner, not when they could simply teleport to someplace safe. "It's off to the left of tower three," Mary said as she ducked down and turned toward her team. "I have my target, how about you?"** **"Ready and waiting," Kimmy nodded as she looked to her Angewomon. "What do you say Cleo?"** **"Just give the word," nodded the angel, "and I'll take out the tower guards quickly and quietly."** **At this point Mary and her daughter had been waiting for Axel's signal to begin their attack on the backside of the prison. When the echoing battle cry of the Ogremon had reached their hiding spot, and the guards on the watchtowers had looked away to watch the town square... their time had finally come.** **The eldest Benden sibling took one last look at the prison, and then nodded. "Ok girls..." she said as she reached up and gave the goggles that sat atop her head a rub for luck. "Let's go!"** **"Ummm?" Leomon blinked.** **"Leo... now is not the time to quarrel over gender." Mary hushed him before dragging the lion man down the hill.**   **Keeping as low as possible, the partners quickly crept to within a few feet of the huge fence. With a nod from Kimmy, Cleo stood and fired her "Celestial Arrow", one at each of the two Goblinmon, the rookie version of Ogremon. Both of the smaller digimon were deleted without making a sound.** **"Ok Leo..." Mary said as she gave her lover a push, "your turn."** **"Right!" Leo nodded as he pulled his sword and stepped up to the fence. He had to be careful to leave some of 15 foot fence intact so as to not raise an alarm.  With a low growl, Leo pulled back and slashed... he was grinning ear to ear as a large section of the fence folded in on its self and dropped to the ground. Turning toward his mate, "Ladies first." he bowed slightly as he ushered his new family through the 9-foot tall doorway.** **"Thank you dear." Mary smiled as she stepped through.** **"Thank you daddy..." Cleo and Kimmy both teased as they followed.** **Leo rolled his eyes, as he gave out a groan then ducked and followed.** **At this point things became rather tricky for Mary and her daughter. While Kimmy and Cleo skirted around the prison taking out the other 3 tower guards, Mary and Leo did their best keeping the digimon prisoners they encountered quiet.**   **It would only take one howl of joy to end this party but quick.** **Still it didn't take long for word to spread that a rescue was at hand. Even without being asked or told, many of the prisoners began to ready themselves and the nearby children... there was no telling how far or fast they would have to travel to be free.** **Axel & Rena. Chap 38** **"I don't think your getting the picture here..." Rena growled as she grabbed Josh and dragged him aside. Axel was on the warpath and had zeroed in on his next two opponents, the Ogremon that stood to either side of his mate. This meant that Rena had to pull Josh out of the path of destruction, not that she wanted to. "You have no clue as to what the BlackRenamon really is."** **"What the hell are you babbling on about, bitch?" Josh demanded as behind him an Ogremon received an electric punch to the groin.** **"All this time you have been looking.... OH, that's got to hurt." Rena flinched as the ogre doubled over in pain. With a shake of her head, she tried to continue. "Look, you have been searching for the most evil of digimon alive, scouring both worlds looking for the key to call him forth..."**   **"Since when could Axel do that?" Josh sounded stunned, he had turned away from Rena and was watching the battle, suddenly there were three Ogremon standing in the square looking rather lost as to were Axel had gone.** **"You're not listening to me!" Rena said as she stepped around in front of Josh. "You have hurt digimon and children alike, you have wreaked havoc and destruction on two worlds, and you have threatened the lives of myself, my mate, and our unborn pups... all because you can't tell fantasy from reality."** **"Don't say that!" Josh snapped back, he wasn't used to any digimon talking to him in this way, nor was he going to let her continue. "You have no clue as to what reality is or how cruel it can be. You and your kind live only to serve humans as pets and playthings, to digimon, life is but a funny little game...** **So what would you know about what hell really is? What would you know about peer pressure? What would you know about being bullied and living life as a walking bruise just because you're different, when each Renamon is an exact copy of the next. How can you possibly stand there and judge me?!?"**   **Meanwhile, the Ogremon were now in trouble. The third Ogremon, the one who had only appeared a moment ago, had waited until the others had turned away before acting. With their backs toward one another, Axel had stepped in and gently slipped the first Ogremon's weapon from his belt. Taking aim, he bonked the second Ogremon on the head with the club, then quickly replaced it back into the first one's belt... then stood back and watched the chaos ensue.** **And boy did it. It took only seconds for misunderstanding to escalade and soon the two Ogremon were whaling on each other. ** **Rena stood in silence for a moment, her eyes locked on Josh. How could she judge this man? Hell, she was the perfect judge; she herself had lived through everything he had and more. "Fine," she slowly nodded, "I was going to ask you to surrender or maybe end this peacefully. I was going to give you a chance to walk away from the hell you have inflicted on my kin. I wanted to take pity on you, but now I see you as Axel does."** **"Pity, I don't need or want your pity, bitch!" Josh snarled as he lashed out in rage, catching Rena completely off guard. In a flash the human's fist slammed into the digimon's snout and sent her sprawling to the ground. Blind to the danger he was putting himself in, he stepped close and stood over the digi-fox... fist held high. "You and Axel can go to hell. In fact I'll see that you two get there personally!!"**   **"Fine... you want the BlackRenamon," Rena said with a growl, slowly she stood and pulled her digi-vice from her glove, stopping Josh dead in his rant. Axel had been right, the moment Josh took his D-arc, he stopped seeing the lovers as a threat. Only now when his eyes glimpsed the device in her hand, did he start to realize that he may be in trouble. "Then you got him." she hissed as she spun around to face Axel, her D-3 held high above her head. "Axel..."** ** It only took a second for Josh to look at the D-arc he had taken from Axel, for it was still in his hand. Only now did he see that the devices screen, something that should have been flashing updates on Rena's power level, was instead...blank. He had no way of telling that the device in the digi-fox's hand went to Axel.** **"Oh no you don't," Josh hissed through his teeth. Tossing the D-arc aside, he quickly sprang forward and grabbed her outstretched arm from behind. At the same time he pressed something sharp to her throat as he pulled her back against his chest. "Make one false move..." he whispered hotly into her ear, "and I'll spill your blood all over the street."**   **Axel was sitting on the edge of the fountain watching the Ogremon bash each other's skulls in when he had herd Rena's call. Quickly he stood and readied himself for the rush of energy that would start his evolution... not that he really needed her to digi-volve. Yes, everything was going as planned. Yet Axel froze in place when he caught a glimpse of the dagger that Josh had at Rena's throat.** **'_So much for your plan..._ ' Black snorted in anger. '_Got any other bright ideas?_ '** **"Well, well, well..." Josh sneered from behind Rena. "I can't believe I fell for the old 'switch-a-roo'. That was quite clever of you, Axel, having your digimon carry your real digi-vice while the one on your belt was a fake..."** **"It's not a fake..." Rena squeaked.** **"SHUT UP!" Josh screamed, causing Rena's ears to ring. "I don't want to hear another word from you, bitch. You have been nothing but a distraction since you first arrived... all planned by Axel, I'll bet."** **"Your right Josh," Axel said as he took a step forward. "Rena, my D-arc, even me... we are all just a distraction."**   **"I should have known," Josh snarled, his anger rising. "If you wouldn't give yourself up to save Fuzzywig, your friend... then why do it to save a bunch of kids you don't even know."** **"Josh, what happened between us was a game..."** **"Not to me it wasn't!" Josh barked, cutting Axel off. "I created Fuzzy, nurtured him, invested three years of my life into him... and you let him die!"** **"Josh, maybe we should talk about that night?" Axel said calmly as he inched forward another step. "Why don't you let her go and..."** **"Fuck you!" he screamed as he pressed the dagger tightly to Rena's neck. "You let someone I cared about die, now it's your turn!"** **"Josh," Axel's voice was soft as he tried to talk to his old friend, yet he could see that it wasn't working. Josh was about to have a brake down and when he did... "don't..."** **"Don't... don't what?" Josh demanded.** **"Don't do this," Axel said, doing his best to reason with the madman. "I don't think your master wants me dead, and you need her to call the BlackRenamon."** **"FUCK YOU!" Josh screamed out, his rage quickly turning to something else. "No one tells me what I can and can't do! As far as I'm concerned, you're already dead!"  **   **Axel saw the conviction in the man's wild eyes and understood eminently what it meant. Even before Josh could pull the dagger and slicing open Rena's throat... Axel knew that his old friend was beyond saving.** **"There it is!" Mary breathed as she and Leo rounded a corner of a dilapidated building. There, on the other side of the fence, was the machine. Yet before Mary could say more Leo suddenly grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back behind the building. "Leo, whammmmmm..."** **"Mary, be quiet," Leo whispered, slowly he let the hand that covered her mouth drop free. The look in her confused eyes told him that he would have to elaborate on why he had been so rough. "We have company."** **"Huh?" Mary asked.** **"There's a guard still in the tower," he warned. "We will have to wait for Kimmy and Cleo to catch up and take him out."** **"Can you take out the machine from here," she asked, as an idea formed.** **"Err... sure I can," he blinked, "but then who's going to take out the guard?"** **"Leave the guard to me, my love." Mary was smiling brightly as she pulled forth her P99.**   **"Err..." Leo blinked as he saw the pistol, "won't that make a lot of noise?"** **"It doesn't matter anymore," Mary sighed as she checked to see if the gun was loaded. "There is a good bet that alarms will sound once that generator is down..."** **"I see," Leo nodded.** **"Now you just worry about your end of this." Mary was smiling as she patted her kitty's massive shoulder. "And I'll cover your back."** **Leo couldn't help but beam happily at the redhead; the pride he felt swelling in his heart was like nothing he could describe. If they lived through this day, he felt it only right that he should ask Mary to be his wife... after all, why should Axel have all the fun. "On the count of 3," he asked in a whisper.** **Mary nodded as she crouched at the corner and took aim at the guard. "One..." she said** **"Two," Leo gripped his sword tightly.** **"Three!"** ** **** Ba-BANG!!!** ** The guard in tower 3 pitched sideways as a neat hole appeared right between his eyes and fell to the muddy ground below. As the digimon dropped, Leo stepped around the corner and hurled his sword with all his might... it sliced through the fence and imbedded itself deep into the machine. Sparks flew and the generator gave out a groan of protest before becoming silent.**   **"What the hell," Mary remarked as she looked at her pistol.** **"What's wrong," Leo asked as he quickly fetched his sword.** **"I could have sworn I heard two gun shots," Mary blinked.** **"I didn't hear anything..." Leo shrugged, "other then your gun going off."** **Kimmy and Cleo were just rounding the far side of the building, behind the girl crept several Renamon and a Kyuubimon; all witnessed her mother's handiwork. "Kyuubimon, go tell the others..." the girl said as the machine finally died. "Tell them to teleport to the top of Kitsune peak... we're out of here!"** **Ba-BANG!!!** **Josh's wild eyes grew wide with confusion at the unfamiliar sound. At the same time, the world had gone into slow motion. What more was the sudden burning pain in his right shoulder as something hit him with enough force to spin him around and drop him to the ground. His chaotic mind just couldn't follow the events and was now in a state of shock.** **Rena stood stock still, her life flashing before her as she felt Josh's arm suddenly jerk. She had expected to feel the cold sting as the dagger cut her throat... yet nothing happened. The ringing sound of the sharp knife hitting cobblestones didn't even register in her brain. Not until her eyes had beheld Axel holding a smoking pistol, did her mind finally react.**   **"You ok love?" Axel asked as he slowly walked up to her side.** ** Rena could only nod as she looked around at the army that had gathered. Well at least she wasn't the only one in shock. All around the village square there was not a digimon moving. Even the two Ogremon, who were more black and blue than green, were silently watching. It was only after Axel had stepped past her that Rena saw what had happened to Josh.** **Though his mouth opened and closed, the human uttered no sound. Yes, there at Rena's feet was the great and powerful Fuzzywig. He was lying in a pool of his own blood, his right arm shattered at the shoulder from were the bullet had struck him. The only other thing moving was the madman's wild eyes, darting back n forth between herself and Axel.** **Pity once again filled Rena's heart, pity and sorrow.** **"Rena..."** **"Err..." The sound of Axel's voice made her flinch and look up, he had put the pistol away and had knelt next to Josh. "Yes dear?"** **"I want you to go and help Blue get Sabrina and the others to safety." Axel said as he looked up into her eyes. "But first I need you to finish what you started... it's time to let Black out."**   **Standing as close as she was, Rena didn't need to call out a warning; she just nodded her head and pressed the button on her digi-vice. She had to take a step back as the light of his transformation took her mate. As Axel reached the pentacle of his evolution, she then added his armor of Set and waited.** **If Rena didn't think Josh's eyes could get any wider, she was wrong. Upon seeing the very creature he had been trying to find, now kneeling over him, Josh began to struggle and whimper.** **"Now go love..." BlackSetRenamon said, in his deep growly voice. "Get the young to safety."** **"What about you," she asked as she took a step back. "What are you going to do?"** **"I'm going to finish this..." was all he said.** **Rena knew better then to argue to her mate's darker half, so with a slight nod, she turned and ran over to Sabrina. She arrived at the girl's side just as the blue Renamon was waking up and though she felt like kicking him, she really did need his help. "Wake up Renamon..." she snapped at him as she hefted the young girl into her arms. "I need you to teleport Gazimon and Veemon here, to Kitsune peak."**   **"Huh... why?" Blue asked as she slowly struggled to stand. He really wasn't sure what the human named Axel had hit him with... but boy did it take a lot out of him. He was just getting to his feet when he caught a dark blur out of the corner of his yellow eyes. "By the Sovereign..." he cursed as he saw the fabled BlackRenamon for the first time.** **"Renamon..." Rena was using a stern tone now. "Get your ass in gear."** **"You...you really did it," Renamon gasped, "You called forth the evil one."** **"No shit Sherlock!" Rena was getting snappy for the world around her was turning funny shades of gray. "Are you going to help or not?"** **"Blue, help Rena!" This sharp command came from, of all people, Sabrina. It seemed to jar the Renamon male back to the problem at hand and had surprised Rena. The male really wasn't ready to take orders from a little girl, yet before he could tell her to go to hell; she had pulled out a strange looking digi-vice. "I'm your new tamer," she said as she locked eyes with him. "Now do as I say!"** **Blue was stunned as he bent down and picked up the two young female digimon. He just couldn't help himself. He found that he had to do what ever Sabrina told him... funny thing was, he found himself wanting to do more for her.**   **"Where to, again?" he asked Rena.** **"Kitsune peak," she repeated.** **"Very well," he nodded, and then was gone.** **There was a huge collection of digimon atop Kitsune peek when Rena arrived. Most were milling about wondering what was going on in the valley; others were trying to take care of the scared and frightened children. Keeping Sabrina with her, Rena quickly sought out Mary and Kimmy, only to have them find her first.** **"Oh, thank God you made it out of there." Kimmy said as she ran up to her aunt.** **"Yeah," Mary sighed as she moved up and took Sabrina from Rena's arms. "We didn't think anyone else was going to show up."** **"Whoa..." Rena said as she held up a hand. "What are you two talking about?"** **"You mean... you haven't seen it yet?" this was from Cleo.** **"Seen what?" Rena asked.** ** To her amazement, the entire mass of digimon suddenly parted and Rena found herself looking at a huge lake of blackness. Slowly she crept past her kith and kin and up to the edge of the peak. The entire valley had been filled up with a black mass that ended less then a foot from the edge of the peak.
