#6 of Fall of the modern age

?Fall of the modern age Chapter 6 by: Raven Fox, Josh and Family go and check out a  
couple of towns. Things are changed forever at Washington.  
  
  
Josh watched as Tabatha walked in the cabin. Lisa went to visit her father a few minutes  
ago. Tabatha undid the maternity outfit she is wearing, Josh watched as the dress slid off her  
body. Josh stared at the all black colored female athro wolf with silver-white head hair that stood  
a foot taller than he. She removed her bikini bottom and walked up to him. Josh stood up and  
walked to the large bed in the cabin, he laid down on the skins. Tabatha crawled on the bed, sat  
on his legs and kissed him. Josh felt her swollen abdomen press on his stomach as she kissed

rendered all technology useless. I wish I had a book to read, but I didn't pack any on my trip four  
years ago." Josh looked around the cabin a third time and the door opened.  
  
Lisa walked in with John, Maria and Bandit. She looked at Tabatha sleeping in the bed.  
Josh walked up hugged and gave Lisa deep kiss. "You're glad to see me." Said Lisa returning  
the kiss.  
  
Josh looked at Lisa, "Pregnant wolves go to bed early." Josh said, looking at Tabatha  
sleeping. "I think her earlier swim rescue of Danny made her tired."  
  
Lisa sniffed Josh, "Plus something else." Josh blushed.  
  

  Josh grinned, "You were just like her when you were expecting John. I was told by you  
pregnant female wolves want sex a lot." Josh hugged Lisa again.  
  
Lisa smiled and laugh, "Yeah they do. Oh Josh, my father wants to check out a couple of  
towns east of here. I told him I'll think about it. We're planning on taking a couple of carts and  
twenty guards. It's going to be a scouting mission, and getting raw materials."  
  
Josh closed his eyes and thought about the idea. "I am going with you guys if you decide  
to go." Josh and Lisa turned their heads. Tabatha was sitting up on the bed looking at them.  
  
Lisa looked at her best friend, "Why Tabatha, you're halfway thru a pregnancy. This trip  
is going to be unknown. It's been a year since the hostile's last attack. We don't know where  
they are now."  
  
Tabatha stared back at Lisa, "Let's just say you might need some of my other talents. I've  
got a weird feeling about this trip."  
  
Josh looked at Tabatha, "Can you do that stuff in your condition?"  
  
Tabatha looked back at Josh, "Yes I can. Casting spells doesn't harm the fetus. If your  
wondering. I want to check a few things at the first town. There is an old book store at it. I hope  
it hasn't been destroyed." Tabatha falls back asleep.  
  

  Lisa rolled out a map of eastern Washington, and Josh looked at an X east of the Cascade  
mountains. "We're here Josh." Lisa said, pointing at the X. "We're at least twelve miles north of  
I-90. The first town is 15 miles east.  
  
Josh looked at the map and recognized the area. "That's the town of Cle Elum, it's a small  
town west of Ellens burg. I've been at that area before. How come you guys didn't settle there?"  
  
Lisa looked at Josh, "The town is to close to the freeway. My dad wanted us to settle in an  
isolated place that didn't have any other people. He wanted the village near a lake, for a water  
supply for game and us."  
  
Josh closed his eyes and thinks. He opened them and looked at Lisa. "OK, we'll go first  
thing in the morning. What about the kids?"  
  
Lisa looked back at Josh, "We'll leave them with Rick, he agreed to keep an eye on them.  
Bandit can't go with us, but he has to stay with Rick to. Just for his safety."  
  
Josh watched Lisa as she removed her outfit. She walked up to him, kissed him and leads  
him to the large bed. They have a session of sex, and it is dark outside. At the lake five hundred  
feet in the air, a cigar shape aircraft is flying east.  
  

  The next morning the group is ready. Everyone is doing the final checks on everything.  
Lisa, Josh and the group hiked south toward the freeway. The trail they traveled is in good  
shape, they made good time. The guards were looking into the woods once in a while. It's been a  
year since the disappearance of the hostile, but everyone wasn't taking any chances. The group  
made it to the freeway in the late afternoon. Josh looked around, he saw some cars stopped in the  
middle of lanes. All the vehicles had their windows smashed, and tires flatten. The group spent  
the night at a rest area. They had three guards a shift for a watch.  
  
"Josh!" He's being shook a wake. Josh is looking a one of the guards. She has a  
frightened look in her eyes.  
  
"What's wrong?" As he wakes up. Lisa is also waking up, and she looks at the guard.  
  
"You got to see this. I thought technology doesn't work, but there is something flying in  
the air." The guard leads Josh and Lisa to an area. She points into the air. Josh looks up, and he  
sees a cigar shape aircraft going east. It has a length of a hundred and fifty feet, width of forty.  
The craft has a structure under it. Josh noticed it shot out sparks once in a while.  
  

  "What's type of craft, is that?" Asked Lisa.  
  
"It's a zeppelin powered by steam." Said a female voice. Josh and Lisa turned around and  
saw Tabatha looking at the craft.  
  
"How's does something like that operate?" Asked Josh watching the craft fly east.  
  
Tabatha looked at Josh and Lisa. "Hydrogen or helium for lift, a steam engine for  
movement. Something like that only has a range of a couple hundred miles. There must be a base  
near by."  
  
Lisa looked at her friend. "Tabatha, how many personal does it takes to support a craft  
like that?"  
  
Tabatha closes her eyes for a moment and opens them. "A crew on that craft, five to ten.  
You need another seven to ten on the ground. I only saw that type of craft in old photographs in  
a book on zeppelins. That model of zeppelin is from the early 1900's. It was a good design, til the  
invention of the gasoline engine. That type of craft is a German design, a passenger model for  
flying passengers from Germany to England. I don't think it's hauling tourists Lisa. I think  
things are going to get interesting at the next town." Tabatha looks at the craft again, shakes her  
head mutters' something, walks back to the sleeping area.  
  

  Lisa watched the zeppelin disappeared over the tall trees out of view. She looked at Josh  
with a worried look on her muzzle. "I think we'll have a few scouts ahead of us, some behind. I  
hope this group well-let us talk to them. If they're hostile, we're in trouble." Josh and Lisa went  
to the sleeping area.  
  
The next day a mile from the town. The group heard a loud chugging sound with a loud  
mechanical whistle. They saw an old steam powered locomotive going down the train tracks. It's  
pulling ten cars. Five passenger cars, five cargo cars. Josh saw a flag painted on the steam  
engine. It has a red background with a gold colored hammer sickle with a star. "What country  
flag is that?" Asked one of the guards.  
  
"Russia" Said Tabatha looking at the train passing by. "That flag is their old one when  
they were called the Soviet Union. Only Russia has the ability to pull something like this. Their  
musts be a large steam powered cargo ship at Tacoma or Seattle. This is not looking good. I  
think Washington state just gotten taken over by Russia." Josh snicked.  
  

  "What's so funny Josh.? Your home state just been taken over." Said Lisa giving Josh a  
stern look.  
  
Josh continues to laugh. "They can have this state. I wasn't treated well by the people here  
Lisa. The only people I really care for were my sisters, parents and Rick. I hated Seattle, and the  
Russians can have that city. Maybe they might just leave us alone. I think going to town is not a  
good idea, and we better head back to the village and come up with a different plan."  
  
The group was going to turn around when around fifty people on horses came up armed  
with crossbows. "Drop your weapons!" Said a female voice. Josh put his hands up, and everyone  
in the group put their weapons on the ground. A white colored female tiger rode up to them. She  
got off the horse and walked up to them. The tiger stood at six feet eight inches with a large  
build with a 44 DD bust size. She has long white hair and blue eyes. Through the uniform she's  
wearing, Josh can see that she has a very muscular body. "All right what are you people doing at  
the outskirts of New Moscow?"  
  

  Lisa walked up to the tiger. "We've been living in the mountains for the pass four years.  
My father is the chief of the village we've been living at. We don't want any trouble, we're just  
scavenging for raw materials, sorry forgive my rudeness. This is my husband Josh, the black  
colored wolf is Tabatha and my name is Lisa."  
  
The tiger looked at Josh, and she grinned. "Lisa, have your party put their weapons in one  
of your carts. My name is Sasha, captain of the Soviet army. Just like you we don't want any  
trouble. Follow us to town, be our guests. We just might work out something that will benefit all  
of us."  
  
Lisa sighed. "How come you guys took over this state?"  
  
  
Sasha laughed. "Because we need farmland. Lisa, do you want to know who is  
responsible for the events four years ago?"  
  
Lisa looked over to Sasha. "All right, who's responsible for the current situation?"  
  
Sasha grinned. "Israel is responsible for the mess we're in. They hired us to launch a  
weather satellite four years ago. The target for the EMP weapon was the east coast of the United  
States. The U.S.A. was going to pull out of the middle east. Israel wanted the U.S. military to  
stay, but the new president wanted to pull your armed forces out as a good will gesture. The new  
U.S. president was using diplomacy instead of force in the middle east. Israel was hoping the  
EMP attack will keep your armed forces in the middle east. You Americans are friends with the  
wrong people, look at your people now. You're just scavenging around to survive, the country  
that was broke four years ago just taken over your west coast with centuries old technology."  
Sasha laughed as the large group rode into town.  
  

  Josh looked at the town as they walked. The asphalt is cracked, he saw lamps with unlit  
candles were street lights' use to be. He saw that the Russians cleared the streets of cars and  
vehicles. Josh saw that the Russians have settled in the town. He guests that there are more than  
six thousand living at the town. "We don't stand a chance against them. Lisa better uses  
diplomacy." Josh thought to himself as he walked down the street. The ground started shaking,  
he heard a loud thumping sound. Josh saw a huge machine driving down the street. It has huge  
metal wheels and moving really slow shooting out steam.  
  
"That's a steam powered tractor also known as a behemoth." Said Tabatha looking at the  
mechanical monster pulling a semi truck.  
  
Sasha looked at Josh and Tabatha. "That was in a museum, it didn't take much to get it to  
run again. You Americans did build good stuff. The steam locomotive was at the same museum,  
and the newer cars hooked right up to the engine. We had to make a few changes on the cars to  
take steam instead of air."  
  

  Lisa looked at Sasha. "How did you guys get from Russia to here?"  
  
Sasha grinned. "That was easy, we still have a few coal fired cargo ships. Us Russians still  
navigate using the stars and sextants as back up in case of failure of the GPS network. This town  
was empty when our airship had a problem and had to land here. Our ships are at Seattle, and  
parts of the town is burn down. There was less than three hundred people when we pulled in.  
They welcomed us with open arms." Sasha grinned.  
  
They are lead to a large building. Josh noticed that most of the Russians are  
anthropomorphic beings. There are very few humans around. Sasha saw Josh's face. "There  
aren't many humans left in Russia Comrade. They died of unsanitary conditions and killing each  
other. The anthros got them to work together again. There are hardly any humans left in the west  
part of the United States. So far we didn't harm anybody here, let's keep that clean record OK?"  
  
Sasha had the group sit down at a large table. She looked at Josh and smiled. "Lisa, we are  
willing to have a peaceful co. existence with your village. Maybe later on we might trade with  
your people. Just allow us to cut some lumber around here with no resistance. Oh, you guys can  
take any materials you need from the yards. We will leave your village alone on one condition."  
  

  Lisa looked at Sasha. "What do you want in return?"  
  
Sasha looked at Josh with a smile on her muzzle. "We also have a shortage of males in  
Russia. To keep your village the way it is, your father still in charge. We want a monthly visit  
from you and your husband. I haven't had sex in four years. Let me have your husband for one  
night a month and we will have a peaceful co. existence. I am not asking much. You do this. We  
give you stuff you need and armed protection."  
  
Lisa looked at Josh, and she looked at Tabatha. She closed her eyes for a moment opened  
them looked at Sasha. Lisa knows what Sasha is going through. She went three years with no  
sex. "All right Sasha, I let you have Josh one night a month, and that's it. Let's talk more about  
future deals." Sasha smiled and the talks begin. Josh looked at Sasha and quietly sighed.

Lisa looked at Josh. "Well Josh, how long did you keep her up?"  
  
Josh grinned. "Til two o'clock in the morning. I just wanted to show her that American  
men have a lot of stamina."  
  

  They walked to the zeppelin that's moored to a portable mast. Tabatha studied the airship,  
and she looked it over. The airship is set up to haul passengers, it is making a whistling noise as  
the propellers are slowly turning. "Steam turbines?" Asked Tabatha.  
  
Sasha looked at the black colored female wolf. "Yes, gotten them off a decommissioned  
frigate. The steam turbines are lighter and more dependable than the reciprocating piston  
engines. We have ten of these airships. Five are at the west coast, the others at the motherland.  
We're going to Seattle for a while, then come back here. The lifting gas is helium-plus, has the  
lifting power of hydrogen, the nonflammable safety of helium." The group boarded the airship.  
  
Four hours later the zeppelin approached Seattle. Josh looked out the window to look at  
the city that had the nicknamed the emerald city. He saw blackens areas that span city blocks.  
"Those areas are were airliners impacted the ground Josh. You know that this area had a great  
amount of air traffic because of Sea-Tac Airport." Sasha said looking at Josh. He nodded as he  
is looking at the city. Josh saw six large older ships tied to the piers. He noticed a zeppelin  
moored to a ship and large diameter metal pipes on the fan tails of the ships. "Those are tillers  
for steering the ship when we are mooring to a pier. The ships are twin screws. We use the  
engines for steering at sea, but when pulling in to moor the ship, but we use the tillers. At sea,  
water has to be rationed." Said Sasha as the airship started to land at Boeing field.  
  

  Josh looked out the window as the airship moored to the mooring mast. Lisa put her arm  
around Josh, and he looked at her. They disembarked the zeppelin. Josh saw a very old large car  
parked by the mast. Josh looked at the red colored car, from the body style it was made in the  
late forty's or early fifty's. "1951 Stanley Steamer. It can reach the speeds of more than a  
hundred MPH." Said Tabatha, she was also looking at the car. "Let me guess, same museum as  
the tractor and locomotive?" Ask Tabatha.  
  
Sasha shook her head. "No, it was at an antique car dealership. When we were walking by  
the place. One of my men recognized the type of car it is. He loves old American cars, and he  
hates the newer ones. At first we didn't believe him that the car will operate, but he lit the burner  
on the boiler and the car ran. Kerosine still burns, but not really hot. This car will only get up to  
70 MPH and that's all. The steam pressure from kerosine, is 80% from what it use to be. For  
some reason the air will not make an explosion. We have some scientists studying the reason for  
that. I don't think well get electricity back. The atoms that cause conduction got spit up four  
years ago." The group got in the car.  
  

  Josh looked out of the passengers' window as Sasha drove the old car down the streets of  
Seattle. He saw humans and anthro beings walking down the sidewalks. There are carts being  
pulled by horses and steam powered cars driving down the streets. Josh guessed that the  
population of Seattle to be at quarter to half of what it use to be. He know's that all but three  
hundred are Russian. "Lisa, I am glad that they want a peaceful living with us, we don't stand a  
chance against them. I don't mind having sex with a female tiger once a month, it's different, but  
my favorite women fall in the canine family." Josh thought to himself. He looked back and saw  
Tabatha and Lisa looking out their windows at the city streets.  
  
Josh looked over to Sasha. "How are you guys going to maintain stuff without  
electricity?"  
  
Sasha grinned. "That's easy, steam plants and foundries. Don't worry Josh. There won't  
be black smoke coming out the chimneys like the 1800's. We can clean the soot, and we make  
the coal burn cleaner."  
  
The car pulled up to a large building. Sasha guided the group to a stair well. "Sorry guys  
we're still without elevators, maybe someday. We're only going up five floors." Sasha grinned.  
The group is lead to an office, and there is a white female wolf at the desk. Josh looked at her.  
She has the same body build as Sasha. The wolf stood up and walked toward them, she is the  
same height as Sasha. Josh looked at the dark blue colored eyes as the wolf with long blonde hair  
walked toward them. Sasha talked to the wolf for a few minutes in the Russian language, and  
she talked back to Sasha.  
  

  Sasha smiled to the group. "General Natasha welcomes you to Seattle, my friends. She is  
the current leader or governor of this state. Natasha made Seattle the Capitol of this state because  
she doesn't like Olympia, the town that was the Capitol before." Josh shooks his head and  
quietly laugh to himself. Natasha looked at Josh with her dark blue colored eyes. Josh looked  
around the room as Lisa and Tabatha talked to the Russians. He saw a map of Washington and  
the west coast. Josh noticed that the states of Washington, Organ and California were shaded in  
red.  
  
Josh shook his head and continued to look around the office. The office is decorated with  
dark wood paneling. Behind the desk he saw the U.S. flag with the Soviet flag. "No state flags."  
Josh thought to himself. He watched the women talk to each other. Natasha looked at him once  
in a while. "Oh, boy. I think something is going to happen when I see Sasha next month." Josh  
thought to himself. He saw Natasha looking at him. She stared at him and look back at the  
group.  
  

  Later after the meeting they were back on the zeppelin heading east. Josh watched the  
scenery go by. Lisa walked up to Josh. "Josh everything went well. They're going to leave our  
village as it is. Sasha is going to give us stuff to make running water to the houses, and hot  
water. Other than the monthly deals this trip turned out very good."  
  
Josh gave Lisa a deep kiss. "I love you very much. During that one night, remember,  
you're my first."  
  
Lisa grinned. "That I was." Lisa kissed Josh back. Tabatha is sitting on a chair asleep.  
Hours later the zeppelin moored at the town. Josh and the group spend the night at the town. The  
next day they headed back to the village. The trip back is uneventful.  
  
Josh played with the kids and Bandit, while Lisa talked to her father. Tabatha went to bed.  
Josh looked at her. Lisa acted the same way during the last weeks of her pregnancy. Later, Lisa  
walked in. They talked and had dinner. Both Lisa and Tabatha had a session of sex with him.  
  
One month later  
  
Josh entered the town with three guards. Lisa stayed at the village, to look after Tabatha.  
Lisa told him before he left, the delivery is near. He walked to the building. Sasha escorted him  
in. They talked for a while till it got dark. Josh is lead to the room, he undressed as Sasha went in  
the bathroom. A minute later Sasha and Natasha both walked out wearing black bras and

Josh said his good byes to the Russians and walked outside. There is an older style truck  
parked by the cart. It has a high ground clearance, so it won't have any problems going down the  
trail to the village. "I wish Tabatha is here, she'll know how to operate this truck." Josh said to  
himself. One of the Russians showed Josh how to operate the steam powered truck. There are  
two five-gallon containers of kerosine in the bed along with two five-gallon containers of water  
for the boiler. Josh looked around the town one last time, got in the truck and drove away.  
  

  The drive back to the village was slow because of the limited speed of the horse drawn  
cart. The next day the group pulled into the village. Lisa and Tabatha looked at the truck.  
Tabatha looked the truck over. "One of the few trucks made by Stanley Steamer Josh. It should  
be in a museum. But, we'll get good use out of it. I would guess it was made in the late forties or  
early fifties, oh my." Tabatha's water broke.  
  
Josh and Lisa carried her into the cabin. Lisa stayed with her friend as Josh got the  
delivery stuff ready. At Tabatha's request Lisa acted as midwife helping her deliver the baby.  
The baby is a girl, but Tabatha named her Linda after Lisa's mother. Tabatha went to sleep. Lisa

Sorry it took a long time to put out this chapter. I had to build a new computer. My old one was  
beyond repair. It was cheaper to build a new one than repair the old one. It will be a few weeks  
before a chapter 7. Some readers E-mailed me to put Shetlands short story Weekend trip back on  
yiff-star. I'll clean it up and make it a little longer. I ran out of ideas of the story, so I added some  
machinery that will operate without electricity and explosive power. There was a couple of steam  
powered zeppelins in the late 1800's. During WW 2 the German destroyer Prinz Eugen was  
damaged at the stern area, a repair ship fitted the destroyer with a large diameter long pipe fitted  
to temporary rudders for steering the ship back to Germany. I added the Russians to see what  
direction the story will go.
