It was like the others, designed to scare him by  \nletting him know he was going to be killed if he continued his  \ninvestigation.  \n\"RENO!\" The otter cringed as the bellowing sound of the  \nCaptain's voice filled the room. His eyes shifted about only to  \nsee his fellow detectives glancing his way. The old wooden chair  \nsqueaked as it slowly spun around, and creaked as he rose. The  \notter looked up towards the Captain's office to see the rather  \nlarge grizzly bear standing in the doorway.  \nReno chuckled to himself as he remembered a scene from an  \nold movie he had just watched. He thought, 'In every enforcer  \nmovie, the Captain always stands in the door of his office as he  \ncalls over an older detective. Then he introduces him to his new  \npartner.' But since Reno didn't see any other furs in the  \nCaptain's office he felt pretty safe.  \nWhen he was about fifteen feet away from the steps that lead  \nto the Captain's office, Reno felt a bit playful. He put his arms  \nout to his sides and in a jokingly, yet defensive tone he spoke  \nup.  \n\"It wasn't me Captain, honest. I was out of town visiting my  \nsick Grandmother. Whatever that perp' said was a lie. I swear I  \nshot him less then six times in the leg, and it wasn't my fault  \nthat the other prisoner tried to run away and fell down right in  \nthe path of that truck that was backing up.\" The Bears eyes  \nnarrowed and a low growl escaped his clenched teeth. \"I swear I  \ndid nothing wrong, and how did you find out about it?\"  \nThe burly bear growled, \"In my office, sit down and shut  \nup.\" The bear then moved back behind his desk and picked up a  \nplastic bag. He held it out and said. \"Here Reno, another love  \nletter for you.\"  \n\"So we've gone to just opening up all my mail, have we?\"  \nReno replied as he reached over and took the bag.  \n\"Calm down. Security picked up traces of an explosive, so  \nyour letter was pulled out of the system. Whoever sent you this  \none has also been handling some powerful explosives. And now that  \nyou have received your fourth death threat, you get to have some  \ncompany for the next few days.\"  \nReno protested, \"Oh no way Cap! I don't need a safety  \nofficer shadowing me.\"  \n\"You know the rules, and you also know I may have  \nreconsidered assigning you someone, but that letter proved to me  \nthat some fur out there might just be serious enough to carry out  \nhis threat against you. So you get a shadow, end of subject.\"  \nThe bear waved his hand and from the adjoining room entered  \na younger, well-dressed otter. He walked over and rubbed palms  \nwith the Captain, he then extended his hand out toward Reno and  \nbegan to introduce himself.  \n\"Good morning Detective Reno. My name is Eric Murphy. I'll  \nbe observing you for a bit. We'll work on reducing your risk for  \nattack.\"  \nReno leaned forward towards the large bear. \"Captain, if I'm  \nin such danger, why should we expose this young pup to it as  \nwell?\"  \nThe Captain looked at Murphy and began to nod his head; he  \nthen looked at Reno, smiled and shook his head. \"No sale Reno..  \nGet used to having him around,\" The bear replied. \"You're a risk  \nto yourself, and Special Operations Officer Murphy will be with  \nyou like bees on honey.\"  \nReno stood up and placed his hands on the Captain's desk.  \n\"Sir, I have underwear older then he is! Just how is this young  \npup going to teach me how to be safe?\"  \nThe bear leaned forward and smiled. 'I guess he'll tell you  \nthat as you take him with you. Now the both of you get out of my  \noffice and get to work.\" Just as Reno was about to walk out, the  \ngrizzly spoke up again. \"Oh and Reno, don't be so cheap about  \ngetting new underwear.\"  \nReno turned around and headed out mumbling to himself, \"This  \nis a bad movie.\"  \nAt his desk he picked up a couple of disks and his laptop.  \nHe then glared at Eric for a second before heading out of the  \nsquad room, with the younger otter right on his tail.  \nEric spent the next three hours watching Reno follow up on  \nsome leads involving a case he was working on, all the while just  \nremaining quiet and taking notes.  \nEric was starting to get hungry, but didn't want to disturb  \nReno as he worked. He just figured the older otter would pull  \nover for food at some point, so he'd just tough it out. It was at  \nthat point that his stomach growled.  \n\"If you're that hungry, why didn't you say something?\" Reno  \nasked.  \nEmbarrassed Eric spoke softly, \"I didn't want you to change  \nthe way you do things. I need you to act as if I am not even  \nhere.\"  \n\"But you are here. Now where do you want to eat?\"  \n\"Where ever you like. I am just here to observe.\"  \nEven with Eric's reinsurance, it was making Reno a bit  \nnervous as he ate his lunch. He had never eaten a meal before  \nwith anyone who did not try and carry on a conversation. And he  \nkept wondering just what Eric was writing down in his logbook.  \nHoping to find out, and to learn a bit about Eric, Reno  \nsaid, \"Look pup, I appreciate the fact that you have been keeping  \nto yourself all this time, but I know that not talking must be  \ntearing you up inside. So when I'm not busy, you can talk to me  \nif you like.\"  \nEric put down the taco he was munching on, then meticulously  \ncleaned his hands before opening his notebook. As he wrote, he  \nmumbled. \"Interesting, craves audio support. An obvious cry for  \ncompanionship.\" He then closed his notebook and looked up.  \n\"Detective, I am here merely to observe. I only need to ask  \nquestions of you when I need some further information about your  \nhabits. If I was going to be your partner, then I think it would  \nbe more appropriate that we get to know each other. But I'm not  \nyour partner.\"  \nReno quickly put down his burrito and without the  \npleasantries of cleaning up he growled. \"Damn straight! No fur  \ncould replace---\" Cutting himself off, Reno realized his reaction  \nwas a bit aggressive, so he changed his tone of voice. \"Ah.. I  \nmean, I don't need a partner.\"  \nEric quickly discovered that touching on the idea of Reno  \ngetting a new partner was a bad one. \"Sorry.. I didn't mean  \nanything by mentioning the word partner. I know you had a partner  \nonce, and I know that you two were a force to be reckoned with.\"  \nEric's enthusiasm could be heard in his voice. \"Between you  \nand Detective Cain, you two hold the record for bringing down  \nmore bad furs then any other team. You may not know that several  \nof your cases are used in the Enforcer training course.\"  \n\"So what does that mean? Henry and I are like some kind of  \nfolklore at the academy?\" Reno asked.  \nEric sat up straighter and leaned forward just a bit, and  \nwith a smile on his face he said, \"More like hero's.\" He then  \nrealized his enthusiasm had gotten the better of him, so he  \nslowly lowered his head and went back to eating.  \nAt the end of the day, Reno updated his files and logged  \nout. He was about thirty feet from his transport when he stopped  \nwalking.  \nThen without turning around he calmly said, \"Just where do  \nyou think you're going pup?\"  \nEric paused for a second, then nervously answered. \"Uh.. I'm  \nkinda still on duty.\"  \nReno gave out a sigh as he slowly turned around to look at  \nthe younger otter. \"You have to be kidding. You don't think I'm  \ntaking you home with me?\"  \n\"Sorry Sir, but I have to make a complete report and that  \nincludes any dangers at your home as well.\"  \n\"Look Officer Murphy. It isn't going to happen. Shadowing me  \nat work is one thing, but my private life stays private. You can  \njust put that comment in your report.\"  \nReno got in his transport and proceeded to drive out of the  \nparking lot. As he did he looked into his rearview mirror and  \nwatched as the image of Eric, still standing in the middle of the  \ndrive, became smaller and smaller.  \nThat night Reno's dream was a bit more unsettling then  \nusual. It was about his ex-partner, the same dream that haunted  \nhim almost every night. It started out the same. He found himself  \nkicking open the door on the old warehouse, trying to get outside  \nto stop his friend from starting the cruiser. He managed to get  \ncloser to his partner than in any other dream. The difference was  \nwhen his partner turned to look at him; Reno saw Eric's face,  \njust before the cruiser exploded.  \nA gasp of air was the only sound that filled his room, as  \nReno sat up in bed, his fur damp with sweat, his heart pounding  \nso hard in his chest he could hear the blood flow as it coursed  \nthrough his veins. He laid back down and tried, unsuccessfully,  \nto stop the tears that filled his eyes.  \nAfter a minute, he rolled over and turned on a small light.  \nHe opened the drawer on the nightstand and removed two pictures.  \nHe looked closely at the first one, which was a head and shoulder  \nshot of his deceased partner. He ran a finger across the glass  \noutlining his friend's face. He then set the photo down on the  \npillow next to him. The next one was a shot of the two of them on  \nvacation, and a very rare shot of them holding each other in  \npublic. He laid that photo down on his chest and drifted off to  \nsleep.  \nThe next thing he knew his phone was ringing off the hook.  \nStill slightly dazed, all he managed to do was grunt as he held  \nthe receiver to his head. A second later his eyes widened.  \n\"There's a body on my doorstep?.. Ah, no.. If I need any  \nbackup I'll call it in.. Thank you.\"  \nReno grabbed his robe and gun. Once in the living room he  \npeeked out through the curtains, and sure enough he saw part of a  \nbody curled up by the door. He pulled the door open, and a still  \nsleepy and surprised, Eric came falling into the house.  \n\"Just what in the hell are you doing?\" Reno asked in a stiff  \ntone.  \nShivering, Eric's jaw shook and he stuttered a bit as he  \ntried to speak. \"I told you.. I'm st... still on duty.. I.. I  \nneeded to check out the safety conditions of you.. your home.\"  \nReno helped the half-frozen otter into his house. He sat him  \ndown on a kitchen chair. He then grabbed a blanket and wrapped it  \naround Eric's shoulders.  \n\"I don't drink coffee, so the best I can offer you is some  \nwarm milk.\"  \nThe younger otter whispered, \"You wouldn't happen to have  \nsome chocolate I could add to the milk?\"  \nReno hid his smile as he pulled out some chocolate mix and  \nset it down next to Eric. As the milk warmed, Reno noticed Eric  \nwas still shivering. He walked around and started rubbing his  \nshoulders through the blanket trying to help warm him up.  \nReno's thoughts drifted off to a time when he and Henry were  \nvacationing up in the mountains and Henry almost froze himself,  \ntrying to stay out in the snow longer then him. When reality  \nreturned, Reno let go of Eric and he went to get his glass of  \nmilk.  \nHe sat down at the table and asked. \"So, what did you find  \nout about my place?\"  \nStill with a slight shiver Eric spoke up. \"There are two  \nwindows that you need to cover better, and it gets very cold  \naround here at night.\"  \nAfter shaking his head, Reno got up and made a phone call  \ninto work. \"Yeah, hello Captain. Ah, Officer Murphy and I will be  \nin a bit late.. He has to make a security check of my place. He  \nalready did his nighttime check, now he has to look around in the  \ndaytime.\" Reno paused for a moment and pulled the phone away from  \nhis head as the Captain yelled out a few things. \"Hold on there  \nCaptain.. It was your decision to assign me a safety officer. Now  \nif you don't want him to do his job, then I suggest you send him  \nback, and explain to him that you don't like the way he does his  \njob.\"  \nAll Eric heard after that was a loud growl from the phone,  \nand the sound of the receiver being slammed down.  \nReno smiled and calmly said, \"The Captain said it's OK to  \ncome in a bit late, and for you to continue your work.\" Reno saw  \nthe disapproving look on Eric's face. \"What now!\"  \n\"That's not what he said, and you lied to him. That is not a  \ngood thing to do.\"  \n\"What? You prefer I had told tell him the truth. That you  \ncame all the way over to my place just to tell me to fix my  \ndrapes on two windows, and then you camped out on my front porch  \nand almost froze your tail off. Is that what you wanted me to  \nsay?\"  \nEric looked down at his almost empty glass of chocolate.  \n\"Well when you say it that way.\"  \n\"No duh!\" Reno chuckled.  \nEric started to laugh, and Reno joined him. It was just then  \nthat the older otter realized that this was the first time in  \nalmost two years that he enjoyed sharing a laugh.  \n\"Come on numb nuts, lets get going before the Captain puts  \nboth of our tails in a sling.\"  \nEric stood and gave his body a little shake. \"Well actually  \nthey have warmed up some. So they're not really numb any longer.\"  \nReno slowly turned around and straight faced he said, \"I  \nreally wasn't commenting on any of your body parts.\"  \nEric's ears warmed up from embarrassment as he realized he  \nhad made that statement out loud.  \nOnce at the station, Eric headed for the locker room and  \nReno headed for his desk. After a couple of minutes, Reno made  \nhis way down to the archives. Just as he was ready to sit down,  \nhe gave out a moan as he realized he had left his laptop in the  \nsquad room. He turned around and headed back to retrieve it.  \nTo avoid seeing the same old things as he made his way back,  \nReno took a different route walking through the locker room. He  \nheard the shower running, and as he passed by he glanced over.  \nHis eyes widened as he spotted Eric cleaning up. The water that  \nwas cascading down his body gave him a slick shiny look, and his  \nfur laid so flat, every detail of his slim, but muscular form  \ncould be seen. Reno gave out a soft sigh and continued on his  \nway.  \nOnce he grabbed his laptop, he looked at the two main doors  \nin the room. One led to the hallway, while the other would put  \nhim back into the locker room.  \nIt took him only a few seconds to figure out the right thing  \nto do. Once back in the locker room he started walking towards  \nthe showers, but this time there was no sound of running water.  \nHe turned and made his way to the center of the lockers. As he  \nwalked down the middle aisle he spotted a towel being pulled up.  \nWhen he reached the section of the lockers where the towel  \nwas he found Eric wrapping it around his waist. Eric quickly  \nlooked up, and once he saw Reno he gave out a small sigh of  \nrelief as he smiled.  \n\"Oh, it's only you.\" Eric sighed.  \n\"Thanks, you really know how to make a fur feel special.\"  \n\"Sorry, it's just that in High School and College I used to  \nget picked on a lot, so locker rooms don't hold any pleasant  \nmemories for me.\" Eric confessed.  \nNot knowing just how to respond, Reno decided to change the  \nsubject. \"Well I am heading for the records room. Once you're  \ndressed you can come join me.\"  \nEric smiled and nodded his head. Just as Reno started to  \nwalk away, Eric pulled the edge of the towel releasing it. He  \nraised it to dry his face and as he did Reno's eyes shifted down,  \ncatching a glimpse of Eric's crotch.  \nMoments later, Eric pulled up a chair and sat down next to  \nReno. He watched, as the older otter would pause every now and  \nthen to take notes after looking over some old reports and crime  \nscene photos. As Reno kept entering information into his laptop,  \nit looked as if he were drawing a map. Each bit of information  \nkept leading to another and they all seemed to be coming to back  \nto an unknown source.  \nAs he worked Reno would, every now and then whisper, \"Now  \nlets see where this takes us.\"  \nEric noticed that Reno seemed very apathetic as he collected  \nhis information, that is until a photo of what looked like pieces  \nof old rusted metal piled up, came up on the screen. Eric watched  \nas Reno shifted his body, and clenched his hands. Reno then  \nslapped the power button on the monitor, shutting it off.  \nReno growled, \"Let's go.\" as he stood and walked out.  \nWhen Reno sat down at his desk Eric spoke up. \"While you  \nfinish working here, I'm going to go give my report to the  \nCaptain. I'll be back in a few minutes.\"  \nReno replied, not really paying much attention to the  \nyounger otter. \"What? Oh yeah. Hey it was nice pup. Good luck in  \nyour career.\"  \n\"Okay, so how much trouble is he in?\" The Captain asked as  \nsoon as Eric walked into his office.  \n\"Well it will take a bit to re-train him.\" Eric looked back  \nover his shoulder towards Reno. \"Didn't you tell him I was going  \nto be with him for the next month?\"  \nThe large bear leaned back in his chair, hooking his hands  \nbehind his head. He then chuckled. \"If I would have told him  \nthat, you wouldn't have even spent one day with him. And if  \nyou're smart you won't tell him either. Just take it one day at a  \ntime until he gets used to you.\"  \n\"Just one last question Captain. How long did the  \nheadquarters psychologist talk to Reno about the death of his  \npartner?\"  \nThe pleasurable look on the bear's face turned quickly. He  \nleaned forward and looked Eric right in the eyes. \"For your  \nsafety don't even bring up his last partner. And just so you  \nknow, the psychologist who talked to him asked for a transfer  \nafter they finished talking. So all you need to know is the  \nsubject of Detective Cain is off limits. Now give this to him.  \nYou two have a burglary job to cover.\"  \nWhen the two arrived at the burglary location, Reno started  \nchuckling. Eric said nothing as he walked into the small  \npawnshop, though he was dying to know why Reno thought this  \nsituation was so funny.  \nReno waved Eric over. \"Officer Murphy, you see that poor  \nRaccoon standing behind the counter? His name is Rocky. Rocky  \nhere, believe it or not is one of the biggest crooks in the  \ncity.\"  \nIn a gruff tone the Raccoon snapped back. \"Allegedly,  \nOfficer Ream-mo.\"  \n\"Yeah right.. Anyway, Rocky here runs twelve pawnshops,  \nwhich allegedly, receive more stolen goods then any place else.\"  \nReno looked Rocky square in the eyes, \"So Rocky, how does it feel  \nto be on the receiving end of it this time?\"  \n\"Up yours Reno.. Now why don't you just do your job, which  \nby the way my tax credits pay for.\" The Raccoon then started  \nchuckling, \"How ironic, because of that it seems that right now  \nyou work for me.\"  \nReno spent the next hour collecting information and samples  \nfrom the crime sense. Eric carefully watched and even assisted  \nReno when he needed that third paw. Eric enjoyed watching Reno  \nwork, and he witnessed procedures that made more since to him now  \nthat he had actually observed them in a real life situation.  \nOutside, Reno started taking pictures of everything around  \nthe back of the shop. Once he finished, he took a closer look at  \nthe door frame. He took some pictures of what seemed to be just a  \nfew scrapings on the edge of the jam.  \n\"Well, well, well, look at what we have here pup.\" Eric took  \na closer look at what Reno was pointing at. \"This is the symbol  \nof the Kith gang. The dummy that helped pulled off this job was  \nnice enough to sign in.\"  \nEric asked, \"How do you know this mark wasn't put here a  \nlong time ago?\"  \n\"Look at the other scrapes and scratches on the frame. After  \nthe wood has been exposed for some time, it darkens.\"  \nReno pulled out a pocketknife and made a small cut on the  \nwood showing Eric that the color of the wood was the same.  \nSounding as if the case was solved Eric said. \"Well that  \nmakes our job easy. All we have to do is go and get the fur who  \nleft this mark.\"  \n\"That would be nice, but he didn't do anything but watch out  \nfor any enforcers. Lucky for us he was bored enough to scratch  \nout his sign.\"  \n\"Not too smart of him.\" Eric chuckled.  \n\"We're talking about gang members. The word smart to  \ndescribe them never comes up.\"  \nReno spotted Rocky coming their way. He handed Eric the  \ncamera and told him to take a few more pictures of the area.  \nRocky handed a sheet of paper to Reno. \"Here is a list of  \nall the things that were stolen from me. Now go and get my stuff  \nback.\"  \nReno looked at the list, then back to the Raccoon. \"I'm sure  \nthe original owners of these items said the same thing.\" He  \nturned to Eric and said, \"Come on, we have what we need. Let's  \nget out of here.\"  \nReno had the pictures developed while the two of them  \nlunched. Reno then drove to a part of town that no fur in his or  \nher right mind would go on purpose. He pulled up in front of an  \nold run down bar. Though Eric was not too pleased, he stayed  \nright behind Reno as he walked into what seemed to be quite a  \ndangerous situation.  \nThe two only made it half way to the back of the bar before  \nthey were surrounded. Then each gang member pulled out some kind  \nof weapon and pointed it at them.  \nQuite calmly Reno spoke up. \"By your response I know cheese  \nlover is here. Tell him I have something for him.\"  \nEric moved in as close as he could to Reno. Then whispering  \nnervously he said, \"Did you know we were going to be in trouble,  \nbefore or after we walked in here?\"  \n\"Trouble? What trouble? When I give you the word, you take  \nout all the furs on the right, and I'll keep the ones on the left  \nbusy until you can come over and help me.\"  \nJust then an ominous laugh could be heard coming from behind  \na few of the furs. Eric poked his head out from behind Reno and  \nwatched as the furs in front stepped to the side leaving room for  \na large rat to step forward.  \n\"Reno, it's nice to see you haven't lost your sense of  \nhumor, and speaking of humor, how's your partner?\" Reno's eyes  \nnarrowed as the rat chuckled for a few seconds. \"Oh that's right.  \nHe's dead, because you were too slow. Or maybe you purposely  \nstayed in that building a bit longer then you needed to.\" Eric  \nwas close enough he could hear Reno give a little growl. The rat  \nturned his attention to the younger otter. \"Now what do we have  \nhere, another partner? Now wouldn't it be a shame to see him die  \nas well?\"  \nTo get the rat's mind off of Eric, Reno spoke up. \"Listen up  \ncheddar breath,\" he snarled, \"A couple of your boys are going to  \ndrag you into a little gang war. Which is fine by me. I would  \nmuch rather see you clowns kill yourselves off.\" The rat looked  \nat him with a slightly confused look.  \n\"A couple of Kith's members pulled off a heist in a CC  \ncontrolled hood, and to top it off, it was Rocky's place. So as  \nfar as Rocky knows, you gave the OK.\"  \n\"That's a load of crap piled higher then you Reno!\" The rat  \ngrowled. \"Rocky knows I would never give the okay to hit one of  \nhis places.\"  \nReno pulled out a couple of pictures of the burglary scene.  \nHe pointed to the little marking on the door frame and he watched  \nin enjoyment as the rat's expression slowly changed. He then  \nhanded him a copy of the missing items.  \nReno smiled, turned around and started heading for the exit,  \npushing Eric along. They were almost at the door when the rat  \ncalled out Reno's name. He glanced back towards the rat.  \n\"One might get the impression you're trying to help. Now we  \nboth know that you would never do something like that. So I just  \nhave to know. What are you up too?\"  \nReno told Eric to wait for him outside, and it was only  \nafter the angry look he received from the larger otter that Eric  \ncarried out the request. But just to be safe he held the door  \nslightly ajar so Reno could make a quick exit.  \nReno turned around and calmly said, \"Look Rizzo, if you piss  \nRocky off, you might end up dead, and I don't want him to have  \nthe gratification of killing you. That bit of pleasure I want  \nreserved for myself.\" He then walked out and drove off.  \nIt was half way back to the station before Eric could get  \nhis thoughts together. \"What in the hell was that all about!?! If  \nyou keep pulling crap like that, there will be no way I could  \never keep you safe, let alone myself. So just how do you expect  \nme to write this up?\"  \n\"I don't.\" Reno replied.  \nStunned at Reno's remark Eric said. \"You don't! And why is  \nthat?\"  \n\"Because if you do, they'll see that you are incapable of  \ndoing your job. So how long do you think it will take them to  \ntransfer you to traffic control, unless that is what you want?\"  \nAt the end of the shift, Reno headed for the parking garage,  \nagain shadowed by Eric. About twenty feet from his transport  \nReno, without turning asked, \"Are you planning to sleep on my  \nporch again?\"  \n\"If I must.\" Eric's reply.  \nReno gave out a sigh, \"Get in.\"  \nWhen they arrived at Reno's house, there was a truck parked  \nin his driveway. \"Don and Quinn Construction\" was painted on the  \nside of it. A large Mountain Lion was just coming out of Reno's  \nhouse as they walked up.  \nThe Lion smiled and said, \"Hi Reno\"  \n\"Hello Quinn, so how's it going?\"  \n\"Great. The job's done, you'll find Don inside cleaning up.\"  \nReno walked into his bedroom and sure enough found Don in  \nthe Master bathroom cleaning off the sink.  \n\"Looks good Don.\"  \nThe Husky turned around and smiled. \"Thanks.\"  \nDon stepped out of the way letting Reno get a good look  \naround. He nodded his head and softly said. \"Henry would have  \nloved this.\"  \nDon walked up and asked. \"Not that it's any of my business,  \nbut why after all this time did you decide to fix the bathroom  \nthe way Henry wanted it?\"  \nAs Reno ran his hand along the new counter top, he answered  \nthe Husky. \"I promised him that we would do this. And I always  \nkeep my promises. The only thing was, he put the blueprints in  \none of his files. And it was only recently as I was cleaning out  \nthe last of his things that I came across them.\"  \nAs Don was leaving, Eric stopped him. \"I couldn't help but  \noverhear your conversation with Reno. Could you fill me in on  \nwhat's going on?\"  \nDon looked back towards the Master bedroom. \"If you need to  \nknow, I think it's best if you asked Reno yourself. Just remember  \nyou will be touching on a very delicate subject.\"  \nLater that evening, Reno watched in amazement as Eric ate  \ntwo slices of pizza before he had a chance to even finish one. He  \nthen thought, 'So this is why the pup had me order the extra  \nlarge pizza.' The last slice in the box was Reno's, but he knew  \nhe wouldn't be able to eat it. He watched as Eric's gaze shifted  \nfrom that last slice to him and back again. Just to play around  \nhe slowly reached for it.  \nThen at the last second, he spun the box around and said.  \n\"You can have it if you like. Otherwise it goes into the  \ndisposal.\"  \nAs Eric snatched it up he said, \"Well it's not good to let  \nfood go to waste.\"  \nAfter dinner, Reno turned on the monitor so Eric could watch  \nit as he went to go clean up in his new bathroom. When he came  \nout, he handed his houseguest a robe.  \n\"Here, you can wear this. I'm sure it will be more  \ncomfortable then that suit you have on. And if you want to clean  \nup, the bathroom is the second door on the right.\"  \nAs Reno made himself a cup of hot chocolate, he heard the  \nmonitor go off. When he walked out he put in a CD and started  \nlistening to some classical music.  \nAs he sat there listening, he could also hear the sound of  \nthe shower in the background. He closed his eyes and smiled as he  \nfound himself beginning to enjoy the sound of another fur in the  \nhouse. Just about the time Reno finished drinking his beverage,  \nhe heard Eric's footsteps. Reno turned around and for a split  \nsecond his eyes grew, as Eric stood there in the robe, looking  \nlike his old flame.  \nOnce Eric sat down in one of the overstuffed chairs, Reno  \nglanced and watched as the young otter made himself comfortable.  \nEric shifted his body once more and uncrossed his legs. When he  \ndid, the robe opened and from Reno's spot on the floor, he had a  \nclear view of Eric's package. Though he tried to keep his eyes  \nwandering, he was unsuccessful and kept looking at him.  \nTo avoid any embarrassment he reluctantly stood and headed  \nfor the kitchen. As he passed him, Reno asked, \"Would you care  \nfor something to drink?\"  \n\"Whatever you're having is fine.\" Eric answered as he  \nwiggled in the chair, making himself a bit more comfortable.  \nAfter handing Eric a cup of chocolate, Reno took a seat and  \ntried to concentrate on the music. This worked for only about a  \nminute, he then found himself glancing at Eric's crotch once  \nagain. The warmth of the drink, and his view, began to cause Reno  \nto warm up. He also felt his maleness starting to grow, so before  \nembarrassing himself, he decided to get up and take a seat on the  \ncouch.  \nEric put down his drink and leaned over to pick up his  \nnotebook. This act wound up moving the robe covering him up. Reno  \nfelt a bit relieved, but at the same time now missed his little  \nview.  \nReno jokingly said, \"You know pup, you sure do a lot of  \nwriting. Maybe I can talk you into writing my reports.\"  \nEric never picked up his head, but only shifted his eyes.  \n\"You couldn't afford me. I may be easy, but I'm not cheap.\" He  \nchuckled. \"And as for writing so much, well I like to account for  \nevery minute of the day.\"  \n\"So just what are you going to write about this afternoon?\"  \nasked Reno.  \nEric replied. \"That even though you placed yourself in a  \nsituation that may have caused you some physical harm, you took  \nall the appropriate precautions to reduce the risk to an  \nescapable amount.\"  \n\"Now I know I want you to write my reports for me. You lie  \nbetter then I do.\" Reno chuckled. \"Well pup it's late, I'm  \nheading for bed. The guest bedroom is the first door on the left.  \nGoodnight.\"  \n\"Night Reno. I'm just going to finish this report, then I'll  \nhead to bed.\"  \nIt was one in the morning when Reno woke up and noticed a  \nbit of light filtering down the hall. He dragged himself out of  \nbed thinking. 'That must be one long report the pup's writing.'  \nWhen he peeked around the corner, he saw that the light was  \ncoming from the table lamp next to the recliner, which contained  \na now sleeping Eric.  \nReno walked over with the intent of waking the young otter  \nup, but when he reached him, he froze. The chair was fully  \nreclined with Eric lying almost flat. The robe that he was  \nwearing was now completely open, revealing his slender form. His  \nright hand was resting high upon his thigh. His left arm was on  \nthe armrest. As Reno walked around he saw Eric's report book on  \nthe floor, as if it had fallen out of his hand.  \nAs he picked up the book, he glanced over and noticed Eric  \nhad some similar markings as his old flame Henry. Besides the  \nlight brown fur which covered most of his body, and the cream  \ncolored fur that accentuated his chest and hips, Eric also had  \nbrown pubic fur, and a brown six inch strip which ran down the  \ncenter of his chest, just like Henry.  \nAs Eric stirred, a glimmer of light reflected off his body.  \nReno bent over and noticed a bit of his clean fur was matted down  \nand damp. A smile cut across his muzzle as he realized that Eric  \nhad just finished pawing off, and as he relaxed in the after  \nglow, he had fallen asleep. Reno wondered what the young otter  \nwas thinking of as he pleasured himself.  \nReno's attention then shifted to the book he was holding. He  \nopened it and sure enough the first twelve pages were an  \naccounting of the events that had occurred. He then found the  \npages after that point empty, thinking, 'That's odd, the pup's  \nbeen writing in this thing almost nonstop, and this is all he  \nhas. There has to be more.' So he thumbed through the rest of the  \nbook. He found the last ten pages were nothing but drawings, but  \nwhat surprised him most was the fact that they were drawings of  \nhim.  \nHe was impressed at how much detail there was in each  \ndrawing. The first drawing was of when the three of them were in  \nthe Captain's office, the rest of the drawings dealt with their  \nfirst couple of days together. Him at his desk, him driving,  \nlunch, the burglary, and their meeting with the rat. The next  \ndrawing was unfinished, but Reno knew it was one that showed Don  \nand Quinn working on the house.  \nHe began to feel quite honored being the subject of the  \npup's talent, that was until he reached the last couple of pages.  \nThen he felt a bit embarrassed, as he looked at a couple of  \ndrawings of him completely naked. He was surprised at how much  \ndetail there was in the drawing, even to the point that Eric had  \nguessed quite well how he looked undressed, especially dealing  \nwith the most private details of his body. Just before closing  \nthe book, he spotted a partial drawing on the last page. It was  \none of him lying in bed with an erection. He saw the size of his  \nerect maleness in the drawing and smiled as he thought, 'I wish.'  \nEric started to stir again so Reno set the book back down  \nand made his way back to his bedroom. As he laid down, the image  \nof Eric lying naked in the chair and the fact that he just  \nfinished pawing off kept playing over in his mind. He soon found  \nhis right hand stroking his own member. It seemed to only take a  \nminute before his muscles began to tighten, and his toes to curl.  \nNormally he would have slowed down his rhythm but tonight was  \ndifferent. His feelings had already peaked, thanks to his  \nthoughts about Eric, so now all he wanted was some release for  \nhis body.  \nWhen he felt every nerve in his body tingling he gave into  \none of life's basic urges, and his otter seed shot out in a  \nvolcanic eruption, sending the white liquid high up onto his  \nstomach. Load after load of his seed came forth with each pull of  \nhis hand. When his body finally settled down, after being rocked  \nby his orgasm, he was surprised at just how wonderful he felt and  \nhow strong his climax was. He knew the last time he had that  \nstrong of a reaction was back when his partner was still with  \nhim. He smiled as he felt a warm bliss settle over him, and he  \ndrifted off to sleep.  \nThe next day Reno was sent to investigate a report of a  \nfound body. When he arrived, he talked to the enforcer who was  \nfirst on the scene. Eric kept glancing over to the bright yellow  \ntarp that covered the body. His mouth kept going dry as his pulse  \nraced. Though he had seen a dead fur before, it was in the  \ncoroner's office and the body had been cleaned up for viewing.  \nEric watched as Reno walked over to the body. He stopped  \nshort, and began walking around it obviously looking for clues.  \nWith each pass Reno moved in a bit closer. Eric wished that he  \nwould just finish his investigation, because he felt as if his  \nbreakfast was getting ready to make a brief appearance again.  \nWhen Reno finally reached the body, he gestured Eric to come  \njoin him. Eric was careful not to knock over any of the little  \nmarkers that Reno had placed around, marking possible clues. He  \nwatched as the older otter pulled the tarp off, exposing the dead  \nfur. Eric had to swallow hard to keep his food down, as he turned  \nhis head away for a second.  \nReno handed Eric the camera and told him to get some  \npictures. Then Eric heard Reno say, \"Lets roll him over and see  \nwho our guest is.\"  \nOnce the body was rolled over, Eric stood up and turned  \naway, knowing that if he looked down now, his breakfast would  \ncome right up.  \n\"Come on pup, I need you to hold his hand.\"  \nThe thought of what Reno just said made him cringe, but he  \nknew this was part of the job. He just didn't know exactly which  \npart.  \nSucking in a breath of air he turned around and squatted  \ndown next to the body. Even wearing his latex gloves he still  \ndidn't care much for touching the dead fur. He tried to take his  \nmind off the body by asking Reno a question.  \n\"Do you have any idea who would have done this to him?\"  \n\"Do what?\"  \nStill trying to avoid looking down, Eric swallowed hard and  \nsaid. \"Who would shave his chest and stomach and cut him up like  \nthat?\"  \n\"You should know. Just look at the rest of the clues.\"  \n'Oh great!' Eric thought, 'Now I have to look down.'  \nEric kept swallowing trying to control his stomach's urge to  \nempty itself. Then nervously he said, \"Clues? There's clues? You  \nwant me to find clues?\"  \n\"Would you feel better if I had you secure the perimeter and  \nhave that enforcer come over and help me?\"  \nEric felt like saying yes, but he didn't want to disappoint  \nReno. \"No, I.. I can do this.\"  \n\"Fine, then I'll get you started by giving you your first  \nclue. You're holding it.\"  \nEric took a closer look at the furs hand. \"Oh my God. His  \nfingertips are missing. Some sick fur cutoff his fingertips.\" He  \nlooked up at Reno, who nodded his head. Reno then held up his  \nhand and slowly lowered one finger.  \nEric looked back at the body. The sick feeling he had inside  \nstarted to subside a bit, as curiosity began to take over. He  \nlooked a bit closer at the fur's face. He then gently lifted one  \nof the fur's eyelids. His stomach churned and his muscles  \ntightened, feeling like he had just been punched in the stomach.  \nWith a sour look on his face Eric said, \"His eyes are  \nmissing.\"  \nHe looked at Reno who lowered another finger. He then knew  \nthat Reno was counting down the clues he had already found. As  \nEric stared at Reno's remaining three fingers, he prayed he would  \nfind the remaining clues quickly.  \nHe again looked at the body. This time he turned the head  \nslightly and noticed a thick black string right at the edge of  \nthe fur's mouth. He carefully opened the mouth and found what  \nlooked like a wiring harness. He went to pull it out but Reno  \nreached over and took his hand.  \n\"Let the coroner do that. We'll need to know if it was put  \nin there before or after he died.\"  \nEric went back to examining the body. He scanned the fur  \nfrom his head down to his feet. He then gave out a sigh, not  \nseeing anything else out of place. He then thought, 'At least  \nfrom this angle.' So he stood up and moved to the other side.  \nAs he did, he noticed something about the cuts on the fur's  \nchest. He pointed down and said, \"Hey those cuts spell out  \nsomething.\"  \nReno smiled and said, \"One last clue pup, what is it?\"  \nEric smacked the side of his head, when he realized what  \nhe thought was just part of the brutality inflicted on the fur  \nwas actually a brand.  \n\"He has a brand.. And it looks like the same marking left on  \nthe door from..\" Eric's eyes widened. \"Oh my.. I'll bet he was  \none of the furs that broke into Rocky's place, and this was done  \nto him in revenge.\"  \n\"Very close pup, but if you can read what has been carved on  \nthis slob, that will give you your final answer.\"  \nEric shifted his head from side to side as he slowly spoke.  \n\"I.. we.. no wait, that's will.. not.. thin for my..\" Eric  \nstopped talking and looked a bit closer. \"I will not think for  \nmyself.\" Eric paused for a second, \"Now what is that suppose to  \nmean?\" He looked at Reno and his eyes grew. \"The rat. This is the  \nfur that robbed Rocky's place, and the rat had him killed because  \nhe doesn't want any trouble with the Raccoon. So this is some  \nkind of peace offering.\"  \nReno nodded his head as he said, \"Very good pup, you just  \nmight make a real enforcer yet. Now lets get going, it's lunch  \ntime and I am starving.\"  \nEric looked down and thought, 'Lunch.. I don't think I'll  \never eat again.'  \nThat evening in the parking lot, Reno looked at Eric. \"Let  \nme guess. You are still on duty, right?\" Eric nodded his head.  \nReno gave out a sigh and pointed to his transport. Eric wasted no  \ntime in climbing in \"Okay pup, where do you live?\" Eric gave Reno  \na surprised look. \"Don't worry. We have to get you some new  \nclothes. You wear that suit again and the other officers are  \ngoing to start talking about you.\"  \nEric chuckled then gave him directions to where he was  \nliving.  \nAs they approached the house, Eric whispered, \"We have to be  \nquiet. I don't like to disturb the fur that lives upstairs.\"  \nThe two entered through the side door, which took them right  \ninto the basement. As Eric hastefully packed some clothes into a  \nnylon bag, Reno looked around the small room admiring the  \nsketches that lined the walls.  \n\"These are really good.\" Reno remarked, \"You have a lot of  \ntalent, so why didn't you become an art teacher or something?\"  \n\"Two things, maybe if I was talented as my art teacher Mr.  \nWookie, cause if you think I'm good, you should see his work. His  \ndrawings are so detailed they look like photographs. And two, I  \nhave always wanted to be an enforcer. Drawing for me is more of a  \nhobby.\"  \nReno cocked his head slightly. \"You better hurry up pup, or  \nyou'll have to introduce me to your mother.\"  \nEric was shocked that Reno knew that this was his mom's  \nhouse, and no sooner did Reno finish his sentence, than they  \nheard the upstairs door open and a female voice call out. \"Eric  \nbaby is that you?\"  \nEric cringed as Reno looked at him and smiled. Knowing he  \ncould not hide the fact that he was there, he spoke up. \"Yes  \nma'am, I'm just picking up some clothes.\"  \nThe sound of foot steps making their way down the stairs,  \ninstantly gave Eric a sick feeling in his stomach. He knew as  \nsoon as his mother saw Reno, she would start to share all of the  \nmost embarrassing moments of his life. He quickly crammed the  \nrest of his clothes into his overnight bag, hoping to make a  \nquick exit.  \n\"Oh you have company,\" The older female otter said as she  \nwalked over to Reno. \"Hello there, I'm Connie, Eric's mother.\"  \nReno extended his hand to rub palms as he said, \"A pleasure  \nto meet you Mrs. Murphy.\"  \nEric stepped over. \"Mom this is Detective Reno. Him and I  \nare...\"  \n\"Partners for the next few days.\" Reno speaking up covering  \nEric's reluctance to tell his mother the real reason they were  \ntogether. \"Eric's helping me with some confidential matters  \nconcerning a case I'm working on.\"  \n\"Oh my, nothing dangerous I hope.\"  \n\"Mom!!\" Eric replied in a plaintiff tone.  \nShe turned around and looked at him. \"So are you and your  \nlittle friend going to stay for dinner?\"  \nEric panicked for a moment, not knowing just what to say. \"I  \ndon't know.. Detective Reno has a lot of work and like he said,  \nhe needs me to help him. Right Detective Reno?\"  \nReno glanced at Eric's mother. \"Your son is right, we do  \nhave a large case load.\" Eric gave out a sigh of relief. Then  \nReno looked at Eric. \"But we do have to eat sometime.\" Turning  \nback around he finished by saying. \"So if it isn't an imposition,  \nwe would love to stay for dinner.\" Eric's mother and Reno looked  \ntowards Eric after hearing a depressed moan and the sound of his  \nluggage hitting the floor.  \nDuring dinner, Eric felt as if he were shrinking right there  \nin his chair, as his mother regaled Reno with the most  \nembarrassing moments of his young life. After dinner, Reno even  \ntook some time to glance over some photo albums that Eric's mom  \nbrought out. Eric was embarrassed yet again, as it seemed these  \nalbums only contained pictures of the most awkward moments of his  \nlife.  \nEric gave out a sigh of relief as the evening finally came  \nto an end. He then discreetly kissed his mom on the cheek and  \nheaded for Reno's transport. The two were almost to Reno's house  \nbefore Reno spoke up. \"Are you going to say anything?\" Eric's  \nonly response was to shift his body and to look out the passenger  \nwindow. \"I'll take that as a no. So you can now just sit there  \nand listen to me. Number one rule. Use whatever means at your  \ndisposal to learn whatever you can about every fur that you may  \nwant or might need help from. Example, I know things about two  \nsmall time dealers, and because they know that I know, they are  \nwilling to give me good information on other bad furs. So tonight  \nyou might just say I did the same thing. It's just you I got the  \ninfo on.\"  \nIn a tone that could have lowered the temperature in the  \ntransport, Eric gruffly said, \"You had no right to do that.  \nPersonal stuff like that should only be shared with ones  \npartner.\"  \n\"So if we were partners, you wouldn't care?\" Reno asked.  \n\"Well you heard some things tonight that I would not even  \nshare with my partner. And let's not forget, you knew I wanted to  \nleave, and you just took advantage of the situation.\"  \nThough they rarely argued, Eric sounded just like Henry,  \nReno's old partner. The tone of Eric's voice brought back  \nmemories of Henry and those thoughts gave Reno an uneasy feeling.  \nOnce at Reno's place, he moved Eric into the spare bedroom.  \nAs the young otter unpacked, Reno headed for his bedroom. He  \npicked up a silver picture frame and gazed at the photo it held.  \nIt was a picture of him and Henry working on a transport. Though  \nit was not much to look at, it was the fastest street-legal ride  \nat the track. He then opened up the frame revealing a hidden  \npicture of the two of them standing by the pool. It was a shot of  \nReno with his arm around Henry's waist as he leaned in giving him  \na kiss on the cheek.  \nEnd Part 1  \n  \n  \n\n"}
