{"sf1_id":317596,"sf2_id":"ynZdQ6Re","title":"Pushing","author":"Riverweasel","words":644,"posted_at":"2011-12-17T23:00:00.000Z","tags":["Poem"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/317596-pushing","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/ynZdQ6Re","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/ef/94/ef94e908-07bf-426f-8613-cb3739d2b9b9","description":"#2 of Poems\n\nSecond poem in my collection","content":"Another day beckons, but the sun looks bleak\n\nThe dawn rays break against your windows\n\nBut your curtains remain closed as you start\n\nPushing the light away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou lie there paralyzed, the fear of what may come\n\nThe possibilities, the inevitable tragedies\n\nThe insufferable trials, the insurmountable odds all\n\nPushing the drive away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou do not notice the world awake, life coming back\n\nLife no longer holds any valuable meaning\n\nYou breathe in, you breathe out, simply\n\nPushing all of life away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhat is the point of trying if it will ultimately lead to failure\n\nThere is no point in striving for greatness\n\nWhen you know you it's easier on your heart to keep\n\nPushing all hope away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYour body aches to move, but your soul is weary still\n\nConstantly fighting with your mind every day\n\nThe ever constant struggle, the heart numbing war\n\nPushing all strength away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe warmth of the world embraces you, but you remain cold\n\nNumb to kindness, indifferent to joy\n\nEmotions such as despair, hate and apathy all\n\nPushing any joy away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou mindlessly walk downstairs, finally forced out of bed by the clock\n\nThe daily routine begins anew, make food, go to work\n\nListening to random people complain about life while you sit there\n\nPushing your dreams away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nFirst to work, back to the empty house, then to bed again\n\nEvery day feels like a dream, a nightmare never ending\n\nThe blinds of hopelessness muffling your life\n\nRipping every nerve from your being\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nMany must go through life's struggles\n\nBut only those that embrace the light can survive\n\nTo embrace the shadows, to welcome the dark is to keep\n\nPushing the light away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe unknown can seem ominous, never clear what path it takes\n\nBut to remain stagnant, to remain ever fearful\n\nNever stepping out, taking a chance to better your life is to keep\n\nPushing the drive away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nOne must wake up every day with the desire to enjoy it\n\nTo see the light again is not guaranteed, it could be the last time\n\nTo turn away from all that living offers, embracing hopelessness is\n\nPushing all of life away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nListlessness cannot be welcomed, we must always strive for more\n\nWe must reach onward towards the light, the effort for more\n\nJust as bread decays, so will your soul if you keep\n\nPushing all hope away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWarring within yourself will create nothing but distress\n\nAlways at odds with your soul, the instinct to succeed\n\nThe tearing inside you will only serve to keep\n\nPushing all strength away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nSimply smiling can make you feel better, lifting your mood\n\nClosing your eyes and craning your neck towards the sunlit sky\n\nIf you only search for reasons not to do so, you will only keep\n\nPushing any joy away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nRoutines may seem safe, but branching off of them is the mystery of life\n\nWe would not have computers, cars, or houses\n\nIf instead everyone had sat around, instead constantly\n\nPushing their dreams away\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou must stand tall, stand firm, unbending before resistance\n\nWelcoming the force against you as more reason to push harder\n\nThe war in life is too strong to afford fighting yourself\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou will be triumphant, you will defeat your enemies\n\nWreaking havoc upon all that resist you in your fight towards glory\n\nThe dreams inside you smashing foes against rocks\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nNever listen to someone who tells you what you can't do\n\nFor they only say that because they have lost the courage to try themselves\n\nAnd would rather not see someone else prove them wrong\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nLook inside yourself; determine what it is that you want\n\nSafeguard your lifelong desires with your very being\n\nAnd one day, if you fight hard enough, they just might come true.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poems","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/303410-hope.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/320016-companionship.json"}}
