They were typically divided along special lines. Canines lived among canines, felines among felines, and so forth. While generally peaceful, wars sometimes broke out. It is the year 1936 C.E. (Current Era) that the war to end all wars erupted between the Lions and the Wolves.\n\nThe First months of the war saw limited action and very few casualties. However as the first year of the was concluding, alliances were called for help as the action crawled to a stalemate.\n\nThe Wolves called on the trusted canine allies, namely the foxes. Other breeds included the Boxer, German Sheppard and the Border Collie. Meanwhile the lions called on their allies, the Tigers, the Panthers, and other felines.\n\nThe other furs looked on, wondering who would win. The primary groups hit with propaganda were the equines and the reptiles. These somewhat smaller, in terms of population, groups of furs were powerful both militarily and economically.\n\nThe next year began as Rudolph Stromburg joined the ranks of the 8th Infantry Division of the 1st Royal Army of the Kingdom of the Tigers (KoT). Rudolph was sent to a training camp where he meets his squadron.\n\nThe main characters and the backgrounds:\n\n- \n\nRudolph Stromburg (Rudy), Middle-class citizen of KoT turned rifleman\n\n- \n- \n\nHeinrich Bawmann (Gunny), Lower-class citizen of KoT turned squad leader\n\n- \n- \n\nAlfred Hizenburg (Al), Middle-class citizen of KoT turned rifleman\n\n- \n- \n\nGregory Jones (Greg), Middle-class citizen of the Horse Republic, immigrant to KoT turned machine gunner\n\n- \n- \n\nDeiter Leiserwit(pronounce as Lie-ser-vit) (Deiter), Middle-class citizen of KoT turned rifleman\n\n- \n\nThese men would fight on the worst front of the war for three and a half years, fighting the recently formed 10th Mixed Canine Army, notorious for taking no prisoners, and fighting to the last fur.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAuthors Note: For those of you that began reading A Feline's Story, I'm sorry for not finishing it. As I finished the second chapter, I began to question what I had started. As I made Changes here and there, I lost the initial drive to really stick with the story. I wanted to change so much, that it wasn't even worth trying to save.\n\nI'm also requesting feedback on details on the next chapters. If you donn't tell me what you liked or disliked, I can't make this any better. Tell me if there is too much or too little detail or if the story needs to speed up or slow down. So Help me to Help you.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Through Hell and Back","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/322281-through-hell-and-back-chapter-1-boot-camp.json"}}
