'Nother poem

Sometimes I lie awake at night  
Fending off the dreams  
The ones where I see you  
And you're always smiling

 

I hate those dreams the most  
Even more than all my nightmares  
For every time I close my eyes  
I have to see your face

And remember you  
The way you used to be  
It hurts  
And I can't stand it

 

Now I can only lie awake  
And hope   
To never dream of you  
Again
