Written for a contest in highschool...

A victim; a bully

Both deeply in pain

One fighting for freedom

The other for fame

She walks down the hallway

Books held with one hand

As she tries so hard

To understand

Here he comes towards her

Harsh words on his tongue

The whispers and gestures

More painful than any fist swung

He doesn't see how he hurts her

How she fights not to cry

He continues to tease, unaffected

She wishes to die

She thinks he must hate her

But she doesn't know

He's just as hurt inside

Night after night, when his own tears freely flow

He's self-conscious

Afraid to let himself show

Perhaps she could help

If he'd just let her know

He just keeps on tormenting

Revelling in the laughters he creates

She has no idea; it's not her

But himself, he truly hates

She goes home; up to her room

Alone in the house, she writes her last note

No one can help her; no one could have guessed

But they'll understand reading the pain that she wrote

He reads it in the paper

The result of his teasing

The fatal error of his taunting

The news leaves him freezing

She left no names to blame, just an apology

And she took up a blade

Opening her veins

For long-awaited peace, an ultimate price to be paid

The guilt of his selfish actions

Will stay on with him forever

For the girl he tortured until she could no longer pretend

Divine retribution for commiting a murder

Outcast they were

One in the same world

The youth of the nation

A story unfurled
