More Monika/Rodolpho stuff. Anyway, if you haven't already, please read Chapter one first here: http://www.sofurry.com/view/357729
Thanks for reading and sticking with me!
Graduation day came quickly. Monika's family was so proud of her, they all showed up. The stands were crowded as she filed into the arena for the ceremony, and she couldn't help but let out a roar as they threw their caps at the end. She was finally finished. She was going to move to Buenos Aires, start a new life, and Rodolpho was going to come with her. With the move, she was hoping for a step forward in their relationship, maybe a ring for her finger.

Rodolpho took her out for dinner after her party, a quiet restaurant, one that was a little nicer then their usual fair. Monika couldn't help but get her hopes up that this was it. This was what she had been waiting for. Instead, Rodolpho was distant, quiet, bairly speaking. He had been this way for several weeks now, ever since he had left her apartment without a word.

"Rodolpho, what's wrong?" She asked, setting down her fork.

"I just have a lot on my mind right now." He spoke, not looking her in the eye.

"What could be weighting on your mind to the point that you won't even look at me? You should be excited! We will be moving in two weeks to our new place! Together, finally!" She continued to try and catch his eye. He rolled his own, his tail twitching, annoyed, and finally looked at her. Monika frowned.

"That's the thing, pussy cat." He spoke, then looked away. "I can't move just yet." Her heart skipped a beat.

"What are you talking about? I thought you were all for this?"

"Well I am, don't get me wrong." She was starting to get a bad feeling. "It's just- It's just that I can't get out of my lease early like I hoped." His words seemed strained, like he wasn't telling her the truth.

"You said you already talked to the landlord and had cut a deal." Monika was starting to get annoyed.

"Well I did, but they changed their minds." His words kept digging him into a deeper hole then he was already in with her. Now she wasn't annoyed, she was angry. "They said I have to stay till the end of the lease."

"That's another two months!" She spoke, slamming her fist on the table. The people around them looked, her voice was raising and she was starting to growl.

"Monika, calm down!" He tried to shush her.

"Don't you tell me to calm down! I can't afford that place on my own! We already paid the deposit Rodolpho! We can't back out now! What do you expect me to do?!" He shrugged. There was something else to this that Monika wasn't seeing. Honestly she didn't want to.

"Let me call and talk to them." He replied, still trying to sooth her. "I paid the deposit, so if they keep it you aren't out any money. You can find a smaller place, get on a month to month lease, and then, when I can get moved, I will join you, and we will find a better place, okay?"

"Okay? Okay?! It's not okay!" She stood, knocking the chair over. "Just because you say it's okay doesn't make it magically okay!" She threw her napkin at him and stormed out the door. Everyone in the restaurant was staring at her but she didn't care. She was upset, and there was no way to hide it this time.

Monika had walked home, livid. Rodolpho didn't follow her home, didn't call. She didn't hear from him at all until the day of the move. He showed up at her apartment, a bouquet of roses in hand. Monika rolled her as at him as he approached, carrying a load of boxes down the stairs to the moving truck. As she returned, he blocked the doorway, trying to get her attention.

"Pussy cat, stop." He spoke, not moving.

"I have to get this done." She spoke, trying to push past him. "I have to get moved in and the truck returned by ten tonight."

"That's perfect then." He smiled. Monika ignored him. "Then you have a little bit of time for me."

"No, I don't. Not right now." She continued to try and move past him. "Please move."

"Not until you talk to me." His words were gruff and forceful, his hand rough on her arm.

"What is there to talk about? You are ditching out on the plans we made almost six months ago at the last minute!" She glared at him. "I had to make an extra trip to look at apartments and find something I could afford. I missed my meeting with Antonio at the office to set things up because of it." Her foot tapped impatiently, her hand rested on her hip, and her words showed her annoyance.

"I know, and I'm sorry. That's what I'm trying to do here is apologize." He offered her the flowers and she knocked them to the floor. His eyes narrowed.

"What am I supposed to do with those? You knew I was moving today, didn't even offer to help. All you are doing is getting in the way and wasting my time. I talked to you, I looked at you. Now move." She growled, once again trying to push past him.

"How is it my fault that I can't get out of my lease?" He asked her, letting her through. "No amount of money that I could offer them would let me go." He followed her as he talked, though she was trying to ignore him.

"Yet you didn't talk to Antonio, did you? He could have worked something out with them. He's a lawyer, he knows these things." Lifting one box onto another she stopped and looked at him again.

"I know. I wasn't thinking. I'm sorry okay?" His apology was the most insincere thing she had heard from him in a long time.

"Sorry isn't going to cut it this time, Rodolpho." She lifted the boxes and headed back down to the truck. He was fuming.

"What do you want me to do Monika?" He yelled at her, following her.

"I want you to tell me the truth!" She yelled back after loading the boxes. "I want to know the real reason why you can't come with me like we planned." Her eyes met his, angry.

"I-" He stammered a minute, sighed, and looked back at her. "I couldn't get out of my lease."

"You know, in all this time, you couldn't come up with something better?" She pushed past him again. "I'm sorry Rodolpho. I don't have time for this." He followed her again into the apartment.

"What are you saying?" He asked, genuinely confused.

"I'm saying that I love you Rodolpho, but enough is enough." She turned and looked at him. "Goodbye Rodolpho. Have fun with whatever you are hiding from me."

"You are breaking up with me?" He asked, looking at the ground.

"Yea, I guess I am." Her voice was strong and steady. "I don't have time for the lies, I don't have time for the fighting, I don't have time for the long distance relationship." Monika surprised herself with her words, realizing that they were true.

"You don't mean it, baby." He spoke, placing a hand on her waist and trying to pull her to him. "We are just having a fight. You don't mean this." Rodolpho tried to kiss her. Monika pushed him away.

"I do mean it, Rodolpho. Goodbye." She stepped away from him and returned to her apartment for the last few boxes. He was waiting for her beside the truck.

"You will be sorry." He shook his fist at her. "You will be sorry for this. I will see you pay. No one breaks Rodolpho's heart and gets away with it." Monika walked around him and shook her head.

"Leave, Rodolpho. Just leave." She pulled the door of the truck closed, walking into to building to make sure she had everything. Grabbing the keys, she returned to the truck, checking that her car was secure on the dolly, then looked around. He was gone. It was then that she felt a single tear slide down her face.
