Anyways, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as enjoyed writing and sharing it.","content":"_An Understanding_\n\nNo one understands everything   \nNo one has the capacity   \nWe all want to   \nBut the simple truth is   \nWe can't   \nWe just can't understand it all\n\nThere are many things I don't pretend to understand   \nBut there are also many things I do understand   \nThat many others do not\n\nSome don't understand   \nWhat it is to be free   \nTo say and do what you want   \nKnowing the consequences   \nAnd accepting them\n\nSome don't understand   \nWhat it is not to have a father   \nTo wonder why and why   \nAnd not be sure what to hate   \nAnd what to yearn for\n\nSome don't understand   \n What it is to be proud of yourself  \n To be happy for what you've done  \n To go up to the world  \n And pronounce \"I've done this!   \nLook at me! I'm here!\"\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to hate yourself  \nTo live each day  \nDisgraced and ashamed  \nWhenever you look at yourself in the mirror\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to love  \nTo care for someone  \nAnd not care about a single one of their flaws  \nFor their flaws are only defined  \nBy who they are as a whole\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it's like to not be love  \nTo wonder what you've done wrong  \nTo wonder why you  \nWhy do you deserve this?\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat true friendship is  \nTo be with people who truly care  \nWho truly want to be around you  \nTo be around people who accept you\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to be abused  \nTo cover the bruises  \nAnd hide from those you love  \nTo hide the emotional scars  \nTo blame yourself for something  \nYou didn't even do\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to appreciate everything you have  \nTo want simple things in life  \nThings you already have  \nTo just continue being there\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to wake up  \nAnd have every day be a struggle  \nWhat it is to want basic things  \nLike heat and food and clothes that fit\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to overcome a struggle  \nTo go against the odds  \nAnd prove those wrong  \nBy saying \"Yes I can  \nAnd I did.\"\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to watch those you care about  \nDestroy themselves  \nHate themselves  \nAnd to hurt themselves\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it is to be heard  \nAs a person  \nAnd a human being  \nAnd be respected for it\n\nSome don't understand  \nWhat it's like to want to die  \nTo wish your life over  \nTo think no one will care  \nIf you are gone\n\nSome don't understand  \nThe beauty of wondering why  \nTo question and wonder  \nAnd to think until your questions  \nLead to questions that improve  \nYour outlook on life\n\nThere are many things  \nThat many people  \nDo not understand  \nNot everyone understands the same things\n\nUnderstanding is important  \nIt opens our minds  \nAnd broadens our feelings  \nSo it is our duty  \nTo help our fellow humans  \nGain an understanding of the world  \nAs best as we can\n\n~bhscorch\n\n[![Creative Commons License](http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-nd/3.0/88x31.png)](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/)  \n\"An Understanding\" by bhscorch is licensed under a [Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/)\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/364561-poem-49-wings.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/365092-poem-34-1-what-revised.json"}}
