When you're in pain, you feel like you're all alone in the world.","content":"_Alone_\n\nTwo boys sit alone in the dark:  \nOne has love and the other hate.  \nTwo friends from birth they became,  \nOnly to have the world break them apart.\n\nThe boy with love  \nRemembers days when his father  \nWalked in the doorway smelling  \nOf urine, alcohol, and bile;  \nWhen his father's hands  \nClenched into fists and beat  \nAgainst his son's skin.  \nHe remembers all the bruises  \nHidden beneath black cloth;  \nEyes cast down in shame  \nWishing he could escape the pain.\n\nHe remembers days when he sought guidance;  \nWalked into doorways where others  \nWere waiting there smiling at him.  \nThey talked about the evils  \nTo close the wounds inside.\n\nThe boy with hate  \nCan't stand going home each day  \nTo see his mother with a needle  \nIn her arm. Her arms  \nAre red from scratching at  \nImaginary things, and her hair  \nIs falling out in clumps.\n\nHe can't bear the sight  \nOf her slow, agonizing death,  \nSo he takes the knife  \nAnd slices with cool steel  \nAcross his skin.
