North

The gas lamps they flicker,

While fur men drink liquor

All colour gone

All life stays still as a blizzard draws near.

The wind whispers lies

A low piercing cry

Cold men by the fire

Their need is dire

Dead man smiles a chill, frozen leer.

The ice shards they cut

And cover the ruts

Nothing is clear

And so grows the fear

Windows dark and cold, absent of life.

Saviour arrives late

Accept now their fate

Nobody goes when the west winds blows

Dead fingers grip chairs

Dead feet on the stairs

All are chilled in winters

Own lair.

Warm sleep awaits

As north equates

No man, No woman

Shall bear life from this storm.
