# Our Time

A Poem I made up a long time ago whilst at an LGBT conference dunno if it's any good or not but I'm sure you'll let me know

In this room music and masks dance,
the masks a new guise from which only the eyes,
the windows to the soul may be seen.

Say look there at the handsome young pair,
dancing so slowly and entwined,
no words do they speak for a talent unique,
a language of the hands is their own.
I do not understand this language of the hands
but I do so wish that without the use of my lips,
may my lover come to understand me
and yet not a word pass between us.

Over there,
is another pair,
 young are they,
enjoying the day,
spending their time with each other.
There is no fear for these two here
as they display love and affection,
is it the company they keep,
or is the past now so meek
that their love can blossom unhindered.

These two inspire me for the bravery they show,
 to shun all who oppose,
the love they have for one another.
I await the day that I may be so brave,
to walk down the street,
hand in hand, with my lover.

Now there another pair slightly more different from the rest,
is that a girl or a boy ?
A Jenny or Roy ?
What does it matter ?
They hold one another close in a world made of their own
where boundaries hold no ground
Shun these pair I ask how you dare ?
When their love has lasted longer than yours

Here at last a pair from the past,
whom have loved much longer than I,
they belong to each other
a husband and a father
 from times that were harder
to be one's self.
I admire them so
that their lives onward could not go
with a lie onto themselves.

Free now are they
and with grateful hearts
they display their love and devotion
to one another and unto their family.

Past are the days
where we hid away in shame
and lied to ourselves and to others
free are we to choose to be
OUT with our sisters and brothers.
