#69 of Poetry

This poem is about looking back on the things that have drug us down or stopped us from reaching our goals. We are all survivors of some struggle, and we shouldn't let those things from the past drag us down. Enjoy.

_The Sound_

The sound of ravaging time
Pins me beneath a blanket of honey;
I drown under the sickly-sweet smell
Of truth, lies, and defeat.

My own pride and vanity
Have led me down the path I take;
Echoes of a younger mind
Stir in me a hopeful pause.

I listen for the whispers found
Inside this darkened well;
Drink in the sweet melody
Of lessons I ought have learned.
