# Chasing the light

We chase after the light,

Not because of our plight,

Nor because of our flight.

 

Despite the darkness trailing us,

Our courage and hope never failing us

Our rage and hope ever tempting us.

 

I desire the fight, not for the conflict,

The momentary null, allowing some healing.

The mortuary culled, allowing some mourning.

 

Each scar, its own tale of war.

Each tear, my own hail of tar.

 

Every morning I awaken, open my eyes.

Every adorning I partake in, pen my haze.

 

To realize the truth, our calling.

To surmise this ruse, our dulling.

 

Respite, the goal before us,

Our limbs, trudging ever onward,

Our eyes, gazing ever forward.

 

We chase after the light,

To gain the necessary might.

To reign the eerie night.

Embrace wisdom, gain thy sight.
