It's been a while since I've written anything.
I wanted to create a small back story about my character and decided to try again on an old story I was writing years ago. This is only one small part of a larger idea i had.
Hope you like it and maybe I might write more if you all like it.
-=G=-
btw I have horrible spelling and writing skills so I already know..save the negative comments. ;)

His life, like many born of the fire tribe was done so with ancient traditions of
blessings and song. Care over the young was always sacred and paramount to the tribe
since all life was a rare blessing of the gods. The fire tribe, the oldest of all tribes was
dying. Their hopes and traditions were all they had left so each new generation was held
in the highest regards. As each new life hatched, their names were sung to the skies in
thanks as the hatchings silver and gold feathered manes shown in the darkness, defeating
the shadows. When it was his turn to hatch into the world, no song was sung.

A water monk named Ish'Ha on pilgrimage to the fire lands was awaken from a
dead sleep when he heard a thunderous shriek come from the mountain temple in the fire
lands. It was as if all the songs from tribe cried out at once and then vanished. Ish'Ha
had never felt such horror and sorrow in his life as he felt each fire soul song vanish.

As he traveled through the lands, the horror Ish'Ha saw was to much for him to
bare. Bodies of the fire tribe were strewn through the village, their fire manes turned
grey as if sucked dry of life. Ish'Ha ran to the temple in hopes that maybe someone
survived. When he arrived, there was nothing. It was as if something had stolen the
entire temple. There was no rubble, no bodies. There was nothing except a small bundle
in the center of the void where the temple was.

Suddenly Ish'Ha heard a small cry come from the bundle as it started to move.
Ish'Ha ran as fast as he could to the bundle knowing what he might find and hoping he
was not to late. As he moved the birthing cloths away, he stared in awe of what he was
seeing. It was a hatching. Some how this small hatching was the only thing left alive in
the now lifeless fire lands. He placed his hand on the small hatchlings chest and waited.
There was nothing. No one had named his soul song. Ish'Ha knew that without a name,
this soul song would be lost. As he began to unwrap the hatching he could not believe
what he saw as the cloth fell away and the young hatchlings feathered mane began to
shine. The mane shone a bright purple light and the young hatchlings feathers were dark
grey. Ish'Ha knew this child but it couldn't be. It was far to soon for this hatching to be
born. Before Ish'Ha could notice, he and the child were thrown back by a dark force. He
felt something try to steal the child from his hands but fought as hard as he could to hold
on.

Suddenly he saw a black feathered figure approaching from the gloom around
them and Ish'Ha understood what was going on and what he had to do. Ish'Ha raised the
child above his head and began to sing. The dark force around them cried out to the
black feathered figure "Do not let him name that child!" but it was to late.
Ish'Ha sang as loud as he could in the traditions of the fire clan as the long lineage song
poured uncontrollably from his beak. The dark feathered figure drew out his shadow
blade and ran towards the two. In the midst of the howling screams from the gloom and
the war cry from the black feathered figure, suddenly Ish'Ha cried out a name
"GORATH!"

As the name echoed in the gloom, the child's eyes opened and glowed brightly and he
began to rise into the air. This child's purple mane began to glow brighter and brighter,
burning away the gloom as the gloom screamed in pain "Risehan! Kill the hatching!"

As Risehan swung his sword, Ish'Ha drew his wind staff. Ish'Ha cried out "Wind
Tallon!" and suddenly his staff changed into the sacred double bladed weapon and
blocked Risehan's strike. Ish'Ha cried out again "Winds Vengeance!" and the sacred
weapon grew another double blade on the bottom of the sword creating the sacred lance.
Risehan stared into the eyes of the monk and rage filled him as he recognized who the
monk was.

Risehan cried out, "Insignificant water foul, I will squash you for this insult!"
Risehan began to slash at the Ish'Ha with all his strength, each blow being deflected by
the surprisingly fast monk. Beneath the singing clashing steel hits, a sounds started to
rise from the gloom like a thousand roars and the gloom struck towards Ish'Ha sending a
dark crystal spear through the air towards the monk. Ish'Ha swung Winds Vengeance
with skill and speed now blocking attacks from Risehan and the gloom as he sent crystal
shards flying through the air from all directions, deflecting attack after attack. Suddenly
the gloom went silent and Ish'Ha found that neither he nor Risehan could move. The
purple light from the child began to pulse brighter and brighter as the gloom suddenly
screamed in terror and began to burn around them. Ish'Ha watched as Risehan was lifted
into the air and cast out from where they were. The light was near blinding but Ish'Ha
felt warmth flow through him as the child slowly floated down in front of him, hovering
just in front of his chest. He placed Winds Vengeance down and took the child into his
arms. Gorath was now asleep but still glowing brightly. Ish'Ha knew now that this was
the child of prophecy but one that had come to soon. As he looked down he saw Gorath
nuzzle his beak into Ish'Has chest feathers and Ish'Ha realized something else. Gorath
had imprinted on him and now weather Ish'Ha wanted it or not, he was now a father.
It is still unclear to this day what had happened during his hatching. One thing was
certain however, Gorath was now the last of the fire clan.
