A short story by me that i wrote about 2 or 3 years ago for an exam i did at school

As I was running through the dense undergrowth of the forest floor, thinking to myself, "what have I done," I am a traitor to my pack, to kill one of my own, I am trying to decide what to do next. If I went back, the pack would surely kill me! I stopped dead in my tracks, to see if anyone had followed me. My heart was beating heavily against my chest like a clock. I could hear the birds squawking in the trees and mice and rabbits rustling in the undergrowth. The sun shone down on the forest, rays of light shining through the leaves like rays of fire.

I didn't know where to go or what to do. I was ashamed of myself! I was so confused I did not believe what I had done! I was so angry when I killed him. It had to happen - it was like a bomb waiting to go off. In one split second, my life was ruined. Everyone was gone. I could still smell his blood in my nostrils and taste it in my mouth. I needed to get rid of the taste, so I went to the nearest stream. The water was clear and the sun reflected off it making it shine like a crystal. I lapped it up; it was so cold and refreshing.

Suddenly, a shot rang out in the forest, birds scattered from the trees and I ran for my life. I thought to myself "damn hunters, why don't they just leave me alone?" As I was running, I heard another shot. This time it was followed by a sharp pain going into my side. I collapsed on the floor with a thud. I had been shot and the pain was excruciating. As I lay there, in a heap on the floor, I knew what was going to happen next ... I was going to die. My senses started to deteriorate, I started to regret all the bad things I had done!

It started to get dark, but the sun was still out. It was closer now, the ever longing knowing of death. As I looked at my paw, I noticed that it was fading away and everything was becoming blurred and distant. I closed my eyes and waited to die.
