That is what this is about.","content":"The pattern of your breathing,  \nA tattoo into the aether  \nThat splits apart the tapestry of night  \nWhen I sit awake beside you.\n\nI, in the glow of my digital altar,  \nWhile you do dream intricate fables  \nThat spiral down and into fantasy;  \nI, in the glow of my world unreal  \nDo want to reach beneath your heart  \nAnd enter in to vistas brillig.\n\nOh, curse these mortal forms!  \nThey keep us separated at lengths;  \nEven when we attempt a congress  \nAnd craft ourselves into an ersatz whole--  \nNo, even then we are in twain.\n\nThe closest I may ever reside  \nTo that thrumming, drumming power plant  \nBuilt behind your buttresses of bone  \nIs to lay my head upon your chest  \nAnd listen.\n\nTa-tum ta-tum.  \nTa-tum ta-tum.  \nI listen as the passcodes of plethoras of genomes  \nUnzip themselves to reveal within  \nThe gentle whispers of emotion,  \nThe delicate spirits of desire.\n\nOh, lend me your power, allow me a cell  \nLest I rend from you the cores in whole  \nAnd leave you darkened in the eyes;  \nLet me not become to you the nuclear fallout.  \nInstead, I vow to flow about you--  \nCooling, calming waters, circling, circling,  \nRippling round your atomic nature--  \nHolding you but never touching you  \nOh my Chernobyl.\n\nOh, my Three Mile Island.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/461626-we-the-beasts.json"}}
