{"sf1_id":465243,"sf2_id":"YnLpz7Zn","title":"The Great Orchestra","author":"Lunostophiles","words":289,"posted_at":"2012-11-22T10:57:00.000Z","tags":["Love","Music","Oneness","Religion","universe"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/465243-the-great-orchestra","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/YnLpz7Zn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/a9/63/a963ce25-6bee-4298-866d-a2a930831c19","description":"#5 of Poetry\n\nWherein I describe my one true religion; not what you think it is.","content":"Kneeling down to face the speakers,  \nThe thudding of my heart syncs up  \nWith every thud that jumps from the subwoofer,  \nRolling cross the floor to crash upon the walls;  \nI feel the cold breath of sound,  \nShuddering waves of passion,  \nThey slide across my skin with velveteen fingertips  \nAnd soak between the nothingness in my atoms.\n\nO, gracious and all-giving god or goddess!  \nYou, who whispers to me when I slumber,  \nWho announces the day with brightened hymns,  \nPunctuates my moments with battle cries and balladeers--  \nYou, the saviour of my aural soul,  \nLay your tattered cloak upon me;  \nProtect me from the perils of quiet.\n\nReligion never came too easily,  \nBooks of rules and regulations old  \nThat warned against pleasure and endorphins,  \nBuilt fences against emotion and elation.\n\nBut I am no atheist--I believe in something more,  \nAn entity strong and fluid, intense and comforting,  \nA warm meal and a harsh drink.  \nThe great cosmic noise that encircles me,  \nShields me against the winds of lesser-thans,  \nThis great harmony of stars and dust  \nThat manipulates our bodies, letting our fingers learn,  \nFeeling the strings of a guitar slide beneath,  \nOr the keys of one hundred pianos all howling,  \nHowling at the heavens!\n\nMy god, Meter!  \nMy goddess, Melody!  \nYou do envigorate my being with your song,  \nEnrapturing my mind with every teasing note and tone;  \nThe endless permutations of your being  \nStretched out so many lengths through the universe,  \nEnd to end and top to bottom, limitless!  \nYou, my gracious Others, do sing delicate mysteries,  \nWrapping round my eardrums, ratatat and rumpapum!\n\nThis resonance, this personal saving grace  \nNote this joyous, rapturous monument to love!  \nWe, the beings that have been harmonized together!\n\nWe, the great orchestra!\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/461897-gemstones.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/468039-love-s-labour-s-won.json"}}
