With him, he found a good shoulder pack which he   \nfilled with old spiced grain. Looking around his current surroundings, he couldn't help but to   \ntear up a bit, looking at the damage of this place he once called home. The smell of nothing   \nbut blood, dirt, and rotting smoke. The texture of the feel of smoke against his throat causing   \nhim to cough, his breath able to be seen due to the cold weather. The snow, now covered in   \nash and items that were of no use, were riddled all throughout the land. He walks out of what   \nused to be where the food was portioned at, looking around. After a while of staring at his   \nactual home, he took a deep breath upon the decision of one last look. Even though the   \nstorm and fires were long gone, ashes still slowly fell from the dark, smoke-filled sky. He   \nslowly tradded [Tradded: trotted + padded] inside, having to step over and onto the   \ncollapsed torched pine door, his heart beginning to race. Seeing this causes him to tear up a   \nlittle more, the tear streaks showing in greater depth against his partially smoke covered   \npelt. Shaking some of the ashes out of his mane, he looks over to one of the pictures that he   \nand his mom had taken together.. maybe even the only one. It was framed, so thankfully the   \nonly damage done was partaken to the frame and the glass covering. The glass was partially   \ncracked because of the convulsions of heat, so he was extra careful when he wiped the   \nsmoke and ash off of it, using the side of his wrist and upper forearm while holding the   \npicture in the other. Paying no mind to the cut he got from the glass, he just sat and stared at   \nthe photo which seemed to be hours, the sun now going away once more. He removed the   \ncloth photo from the ruined framing. Using a few shreds from an old blanket he had from   \nwhen he was a lot younger, he tied the picture to his wrist, able to see his mother now   \nwherever he traveled. With one last sigh, he was off. He tradded back outside and slowly   \ntook flight, his eyes partially bloodshot from the amount of smoke. Having no idea where he   \nwas to live now, let alone stay, he just kept flying. He enjoyed the feel of the wind against his   \npelt, mane and eyes. The cooling from it seemed to ease his stress, his eyes closed as the   \nwind sifted through his mane and fur.   \nThe flashbacks began to set in.. His first time he went flying with his mom. He was held in her   \ngiant, lionlike paws, experiencing what he's experiencing right now. But back then, flight was   \nspecial.. Finally looking below as he thought, a small smile on his face as another tear   \ncreeped from his eye, the forest was fine.. Green trees, the wildlife. This being seen, he flew   \nlower. As he descended, the mist from some of the clouds sticking to some of his mane and   \nfur. He landed quietly, the feel of soft, wet twigs, grass and leaves beneath his paws and   \nhooves. He set his shoulder pack on an stump, surrounded by many towering trees. He then   \nwalked over to a small stream, the stream being narrow enough for a washing. He closed his   \neyes, using his paws to scoop up some of the water and wash the smudged smoke away from   \nhis face, then streaking some more water through his mane. Remembering vivid memories as   \nhis first baths when he was younger, he knew living in the past will only ruin his present and   \nfuture. He took a moment to think before he finished washing, getting the access water away   \nfrom his eyes. As he proceeds to finish this, his ears flicker. He looks back at the stump where   \nhe set his pack at, noticing his pack was gone. He quietly looked around and worked his way   \nforward, his vision clear now. Moving slowly in caution, he kept his eyesight concentrated   \nand didn't even think twice about blinking. At the sound of a hiss and some sort of creature   \ndarting by him, he turned but not in time. The strange creature made him lose his balance,   \nbut he regained it almost instantly and without thinking, he flew after the creature. The more   \nit gained speed, the more he did as well. At his best guess, this was the creature's home and   \nit knew the area far more than he did. Hearing more hisses from a random pattern, he slowed   \nto a stop. Looking around him once more, he noticed what seemed to be sets of eyes coming   \nhis way from within the forest. They seemed to be crawling from underground and along the   \nloose leaves, throwing twigs out of their paths. His ears flicker again, but this time he turned   \nin fear.. one of the creatures split a tree from it's roots, the tree falling toward him. Using his   \nelement and what strength he had, the young drony was able to stop the tree from falling on   \ntop of him, throwing it to the side and only missing him by three of his hooves. Panting, he   \ntried to regain his breath and look out for more of the creatures, but it was too late. He felt a   \nfigure grab each of his back hooves, the figure tightening the grip as it drug him down back to   \nthe surface of the forest with what seemed to be vines.. strong hands, even. Letting out a   \nloud growl as he hit the forest floor, the last thing he saw was those eyes...\n\n  \n  \n\n","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/474058-the-last-dance-pt-1.json"}
