Assignment #3/8 from my college Creative Writing Poetry class. This is not just about a breakup, but about all romantic relationships, and that they are harder to deal with than we think.

_Wading_

Going through a breakup
Is like wading through a sea
Of french fries

Before it begins,
You think it will be delightful
Almost like a dream come true.

It is unpleasant while you are wading
And even though you like the taste
Of french fries
You can't help but wish the experience was over with.

When all is over and done,
You feel dirty all over,
As your body is dripping with grease,
And you just want to take the longest shower
Of your lifetime
To wash away the memories.
