Being an anthro teenage girl & the daughter of the chief of police..........
September 19

**"We need a doctor now! We're loosing her!", a blonde woman dressed in scrubs screams out amongst the busy hospital. She had gotten the call from the ambulance drivers just moments before. They were bringing in a pregnant woman who wasn't breathing & hemorrhaging severely. An emergency C-section had to be performed or they'll lose both baby & mother. As the blonde nurse rushes her patient to surgery she can't help but wonder where the father is. She takes a quick glance at her patient. When she got the call she had no idea that the woman in question wasn't a woman at all. She was surprised when an anthro woman was reeled in. A tailless rat no less. She hated rats.**

**They were always so creepy to her. Now here she was as close to one as she could be.**

**It was also the largest rat she'd ever seen. But she'd never really seen an anthro before either.**

**Oh, sure they existed & she'd seen them from a distance or on TV, but never actually SEEN one. After all, anthros in this neighborhood were scarce. It was primarily human. The hospital was human. The fire department was human. The police were nearly all human. The chief wasn't. Come to think of it, wasn't he a big tailless rat as well? She'd only seen him on TV or in the papers & she'd always managed to look away. The thought of seeing a rat that big on TV always made her shutter.**

**As surgeons took over she hurriedly stripped off her bloody gloves & headed for the door that led to the outside smoking area. Once out the door her whole body shuttered.**

**Definitely didn't want to be that close to a really big rat, tailless or otherwise.**

**"You OK?" She looked up at the voice only to see a female dzo standing before her wearing similar scrubs.**

**Startled, she just about lost her balance. "I-I'm sorry. I di-didn't expect t-to see a-a-a." "An anthro?," she was cut off before she could finish.**

**The dzo smiled.**

**"Yeah, there's not a lot of us here. I'm new here. Work in ambulatory care. You?" "The ER mainly."**

**Wow, two anthros in one day.**

**What are the odds?**

**"So what's wrong?"**

**The blonde nurse took a moment to catch her breath.**

**"I just saw a - well - a..." She looked from the door to the anthro before her. Was it really appropriate to say she saw a giant rat? Would it be wise to tell one anthro that you're disgusted by the sight of another just because of the species? Wouldn't she take offense? & is it really right to admit, at least out loud, that you're not only grossed out by a patient but a dying patient? No, no it isn't. "Nothing. It's nothing. I'm alright." She walked around to sit on the wood bench. The dzo laughed.**

**"Nothing, huh? Looked like huge rat to me. Of course that one's a lot bigger than the ones in my apartment I've been trying to get rid of. I think I'd die if I saw one in there that big!"**

**The blonde nurse stared at her in puzzled amazement. The dzo smirked. "Just 'cuz I'm anthro doesn't mean I have to like every species. Especially rats." The two nurses laughed. "I just about died when they brought her in. Wished they'd've said something to me in advance," the blonde spoke first after their shared laughter. "Actually she kind of reminds me of the police chief. He's a big rat too, right? I've only caught glimpses of him here & there." "Yeah he is. & she might've looked familiar to you & you not know it. That's his wife in there. I recognized her from TV & newspapers. There was a big scandal involving domestic abuse, but of course no one is going to charge a cop with beating his wife & she always said it never happened. So nothing ever became of it." The blonde was shocked. "Come on," the dzo lightly hit her on the arm, "let's go see if they saved the baby." The nurse brushed her blonde hair out of her face & followed her new friend back inside.**

**They cleaned up as per standard procedure & headed for surgery. Upon reaching the surgery room their jaws dropped as they peaked in. A white sheet was covering the rat woman as a nurse pulled it up over her face. The doctor turned & headed for the door. They backed up to let him through.**

**He carried a small figure in his arms.**

**A tailless rat. Hairless, naked, eyes closed.**

**The nurse from the room came out right behind him & he handed the baby to her & gave his orders. "Take her to the maternity ward. Her father's on his way. His wife's body needs to be cleaned up & moved before he gets here." As the nurse started to walk away the dzo spoke. "What happened?" The nurse with the baby turned to look at the two women.**

**"The mother was too far gone. We couldn't save her. But the baby's a healthy little girl." "Does she even have a name?" The blonde nurse's mouth was dry as she spoke. "The father gave us a name over the phone. Said he & his wife had it picked out a year before she even became pregnant." She looked down at the baby in her arms. "Ladies, meet Judy Eyres Valkrie."**

"}
