# Out Of The Frying Pan... Part 1

#1 of Out Of the Frying Pan...

Hey! It's Esme! This is My very first work posted, I'm so excited and I hope you enjoy this!

_Keep running, if you stop you die._ I think even as my lungs, heart, and legs are feeling like they're engulfed in flames. I trip on a root that was sticking out of the ground and face plant into the dirt trail. "Damn it," I mutter, "Well, I might as well take a short break to recover." I pick myself up off the ground and brush off my camo. I study the surrounding woods and decide to head off the trail seeing that the underbrush is dense. "Frost! Can you hear me Frost?!" I throw myself into the underbrush and go prone before I remember my earpiece. "Yeah, I'm here," I sigh with relief, "You nearly gave me a heart attack there." "Sorry. What is your team's status? Have you completed the objective?" "Negative, my team is all dead. I am the only one left." "Are near the E-vac?" "Negative, I'm about 20 klicks in the opposite direction. I thought you were tracking my location." "Sorry, we are. I forgot; anyways, we will send in a team to help you with E-vac. Just lie low at your current position." "Okay, got it. Frost out." I almost dance with joy but restrain myself before doing so. Well, at least one good thing has happened. I set my gear out on the ground before me and take inventory. _Assault rifle, 20 full clips, Sniper rifle, 6 full clips, Shotgun, 50 rounds, 2 Pistols, 10 full clips for both, 2 Frags, 2 Flashes, some rations, some survival gear,_ I stop at the last item and smile. It is my custom made double-edged short sword. "Now I can work with this," I say as I put my stuff back together. Once I have it organized again I lie down on the ground, "A little sleep would be nice," I whisper as I close my eyes and let the darkness envelope me.
