{"sf1_id":488280,"sf2_id":"GnD4A8Xn","title":"A cedar wood box...","author":"LovePaws","words":246,"posted_at":"2013-01-16T16:22:00.000Z","tags":["Death","Poem","life"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/488280-a-cedar-wood-box","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/GnD4A8Xn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/35/f4/35f41746-6aef-40d2-afaf-e0f18ef93182","description":"#1 of The World's Stage (Poems)\n\n\"All the world's a stage,\nAnd all the men and women merely players\"\n-William Shakespeare","content":"Look at the little marionette\u0026nbsp;  \nDancing on those silver strings\u0026nbsp;  \nSee the joy it's dance brings?\u0026nbsp;  \nWith grace it moves across center stage  \nIt really was quite all the rage\n\nAnd the wizard behind the curtain,  \nThe grand puppeteer!  \nIt is for him the crowds unwittingly jeer\u0026nbsp;  \nIn the end this much is certain\n\nHe smiles and opens the champagnes cork  \nPraising the little doll for his endless work  \nThe gold fills the masters every coffer  \nBut the marionette never receive a single copper\n\nTime flys and the crowd begins to dwindle  \nAnd the master plays less and less with its spindle  \nNo more does the marionette's movements entrance\u0026nbsp;  \nNo more does the marionette dance\n\nNow it lies alone in a cedar wood box  \nCast aside with the rubble, the dirt, the rocks  \nIt hasn't the strength to get up or walk  \nIt hasn't the moth to cry or talk\n\nIt's once polished face now gathers dust  \nEven it's silver strings begin to rust  \nAlone and forgotten it doth lay  \nNever again to see the light of day\n\nAnd the years pass and my bones creak  \nI know I am growing ever more weak  \nIn my youth I was much more grand  \nBut now I haven't even the strength to stand\n\nOne day soon they will lay me in a cedar wood box  \nAlone with all the dirt, rubble, and rocks  \nAlone and forgotten I too will lay  \nNever again to see the light of day\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"The World's  Stage (Poems)","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/494394-the-great-masquerade.json"}}
