{"sf1_id":488908,"sf2_id":"ynZjM7qn","title":"And thus the Tower Babel Fell, Part 1/3","author":"Diavora","words":358,"posted_at":"2013-01-17T17:50:00.000Z","tags":["Poetry","Sci-Fi","Series","Supernatural"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/488908-and-thus-the-tower-babel-fell-part-1-3","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/ynZjM7qn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/e8/f0/e8f08e0f-b1ca-495a-b465-264f38756a0e","description":"Wrote this to try and break out of writer's block for a story I am writing (to which this is a counterpart to) concerning an entity following an artist across time and space.","content":"Forward, into the dark, my dear  \nAway, never again to hear  \nThe voice of father's love,  \nThe passing of the years,  \nMankind's greatest fears  \nNo more, no less, my dove.  \n  \nThe ship that sails at midnight,   \nLoaded before the dawn,  \nTechnya make haste your flight  \nHis eyes to you are drawn.  \n  \nThe world's gone red with blood  \nWhere once rust's marks had stood.  \nOnce past, she Sees it all.  \nTurn away from your dark fears,  \nWhy should you stall, your breath He hears  \nFlee, flee, He sends His thrall.  \n\\*  \nTime has passed into the dark,  \nLost within Her greatest art.  \nThe choice is yours alone.  \nForever you are Marked.  \nHere come His heralds, Hark!  \nBrought low, at once, by stone.  \n  \nFear not, my child of beauty,  \nGifted with Sight and song,  \nYou see what ails the world, you see.  \nYou paint of what is wrong.  \n  \nThe ship still sails the stars  \nWhere the souls of glory are.  \nBlack with hate, ignore  \nThe questing eyes of Leland,  \nHis eyes are back on Martian land,  \nDead, dead from the War.  \n\\*  \nForward, into your life, my dear  \nYour works they fill my heart with fear.  \nThe thoughts of father's dread.  \nYour gift grows strong each year,  \nI must stop it, but time comes near.  \nToo little, too late, he's dead.\n\n\u0026nbsp;The Grinning Man has took him  \nTo keep his tongue most silent.  \nYour works fill Him with joy most grim,  \nSo paint, no more relent!  \n  \nWith each glorious view,  \nTheir eyes are opened anew.  \nDark hearts adore, now torn  \nAs two worlds now are one,  \nNowhere else to run.  \nHail, hail, the Neverborn!  \n\\*  \nFlee not from me, pet so frail,  \nStill your heart, silence your wails.  \nDesires of darkest thoughts,  \nLose once again the trail,  \nWith the twitching of a tail.  \nShe, into His hands, came not.  \n  \nOnce again through midnight,  \nAway with the hopes of men,  \nA world anew, far star's light.  \nNo love, no peace, She's spent.  \n  \nNo more to greet new shores,  \nNor study the ancient lores,  \nDaughter dearest sleep.  \nThis one is yours, New Eden.  \nCast aside your burden.  \nThrown, thrown to the deep.  \n  \n\n"}
