I get this odd feeling like we've been here before >.>
Well you probably noticed that I uploaded this exact chapter not to long ago. However, after some thought, and some very helpful insight from a very helpful fox...I decided to go back and rework a few things. And here's the result! Hope you enjoy :)
Don't be afraid to leave a comment about what you think.

"Hey fag. You play your vagina like you play that piano?"

Alex's ears reflexively flattened back against his head, the little posse of 4 football swaggered across the deserted band room towards him.

Alex felt the cold claw of fear creeping up his spine. Why would they never leave him alone? It was a question he already knew the answer to. He turned from the old piano he had been mindlessly fiddling with and faced the source of the disturbance. It was Lance and his cronies. They always seized an opportunity to belittle and ridicule him. Who would pass up the chance to beat up on the defenseless gay kid. The huge bear looked down on him with a glare of abject distaste.

"So you gonna' answer me, bitch?"

Alex looked away and tried to walk passed him. He was stopped by one of his posse. A wolf, who looked decidedly agitated, as if he wasn't sure if he wanted to be there. The other two guys had taken up position on his other side. He was encircled by very large, very mean upperclassmen who would like nothing more than to beat the shit out of him. Alex didn't see this ending well.

Lance reached toward him. Alex flinched away, expecting a blow. Instead he felt the heavy paw rest on his shoulder. He looked up.

"We just wanted to remind you of something before you leave for Christmas break." He smiled, almost congenially down at a bewildered Alex. "We're gonna be having a good time through the whole break. We're gonna laugh, and hang out with our friends." He stopped at the mention of the word friends. "That makes me wonder, what are you doing over the break?"

    "N-nothing much."

The bear shook his head condescendingly. "Nothing much. No Parties?"

    Alex shook his head.

    "No big hang-outs with friends?"

Alex was lost. He just shook his head again.

    "You know why?"

    "N-No, why?"

"'Cause you're a little faggot with no friends. That's why."

Alex's ears flattened against his head again. He felt sick. Lance pushed him back until his back was pressed into the wall behind the piano. His posse followed him. Alex was closely surrounded by the four big jocks. He felt lick he was choking.

"You're just a little fag. Nobody really likes you. The only thing you'll ever be good at is taking it up your scrawny ass like the little bitch you are. Just remember that during your break. Happy holidays queer."

They quickly made their exit from the band room. Alex just slide down the wall and buried his head in his paws.

                                                                                    \* \* \*

_ "You're just a little fag. Nobody really likes you...Happy holidays queer."_

_ _

Jacob shook his head. He needed to drink more.

He didn't know why, but that last little confrontation had seemed to cross the line a little more than usual. Normally, Jacob would be all for poking fun at the gay kid, but yesterday had seemed to be much more hateful than normal.

Jacob realized he was starting to feel bad for the kid and took another swig of his beer. Shit he was starting to get soft.

He desperately tried to take his mind off the kid. But after a two beers, four hours, and six girls later: he could still see the look of pure, abject terror in the poor bastard's eyes. Jacob sighed. He was tired. He felt empty, and somewhat defeated. All he wanted to do was curl up in his bed and forget the world and all it's expectations.

Jacob walked over to Lance, it was his party, so Jacob thought it would be polite to say goodbye to his friend before he left.

"Hey. Hey, Lance." It took Jacob about five minuets to get the bear's attention, and roughly another three just to make him understand that he was leaving.

The bear shook his head sadly. "Jacob. Jacob. Jacob. How can you leave so early?" He gestured awkwardly in front of him, indicating the masses of young people partying. "How can you go home, with all these fine bitches ripe for fucking?"

Jacob rolled his eyes. You could always count on lance to be...well...Lance.

"Hey, before you go, could you grab me some booze? I'm busy."

Busy wasn't the first word that came to Jacob's mind, more like 'man-whoring'. The bear had two girls, one under each arm, and was telling greatly exaggerated versions of his football accomplishments. All three party-goers were wasted out of their minds, and appeared to be on the verge of just stripping down and fucking right out there for everyone to see.

_ _ Trying to ignore his friends promiscuity, Jacob walked over to the cooler that contained the booze and grabbed a bottle of tequila in each paw. He headed back, stringing his way through the rowdy crowd to where the bear and his 'acquaintances' were sitting.

    "Hey! Hey Lance!"

Lance was too preoccupied, or too drunk, to notice him. He was whispering something into one of the girls' ears. Jacob didn't want to know what.

Eventually he just gave up and kicked Lance in the shin to get his attention.

It wasn't a hard kick, just some sharp contact to get the bear's attention. Lance though, of course, was Lance. The bear seemed to have forgotten about his earlier request for more booze. He stood up yelling and shoved Jacob back towards the bonfire. To save himself from hitting the flames, Jacob instinctively twisted and flailed his arms. The pair of bottles flew out of his paws and landed in the fire.

There was a loud explosion followed by a hot wave of smoky air. Jacob felt the heat wave coming and covered his face with his arms. Half a second later he felt thousands of tiny shards of glass shred through his clothes and rip into his skin. He howled in pain and rage as he felt millions of white hot needles embed themselves into his flesh. There was one last loud pop and the melee was over less than a second before it had started.

Jacob turned. He his voice screaming at Lance. He saw everyone staring at him.

"What the fuck are you doing!"

Then he felt a warm liquid running down the side of his neck. He looked down and reached up to the hot area with his paw. He felt so numb. So fucking numb.

_ _ His paw was covered in blood. It took him a few seconds to realize it was his. He looked up. Everyone was crowded around him. Just staring. _ _

_ _ The firelight cast its hellish glow on everything. Jacob could feel his blood dripping out of him...his life ebbing out of him like the tide receding back into the ocean. He sank to his knees. The darkness was surrounding him like he and his friends had surrounded that poor gay kid earlier.

Suddenly, Jacob realized he wasn't worried about whether he was going soft or not. He didn't care what Lance, or anyone, thought of him anymore. He just wanted to let that kid know that he was sorry. Sorry for all the times Jacob had picked on him, ridiculed him, and told him he was going to die alone. Just as Jacob was dyeing alone right now. He collapsed to the ground, unable to stay on his knees any longer. He wondered why it had needed to end like this. His eyes slowly closed, and the darkness began to envelop him. Somewhere, someone was screaming.

It was strangely peaceful. He only wished he had the chance to tell that Alex kid he was sorry. Jacob wondered if his death would at least give the kid a little respite from all the bullying he had to go to. Bullying Jacob had all to often been a part of.

The darkness was almost complete. He could feel the world fading away. Fading away like the morning mists slowly dissolving into nothingness in the morning light. Except there was no light...only nothingness.

It was almost relaxing. No more friends, no more parties, no more bullying. He finally gave into it, let the darkness claim him for it's own. He let go of himself, and then drifted away into a sea nothingness.
