{"sf1_id":506512,"sf2_id":"k1V3Ej0e","title":"The Otter with Emerald Eyes","author":"Foxpiper","words":308,"posted_at":"2013-02-25T22:02:00.000Z","tags":["Celtic","Nature","Otter","Poem","Pub","Rudderg33k","ireland","slang","town"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/506512-the-otter-with-emerald-eyes","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/k1V3Ej0e","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/45/f4/45f430ee-32a7-4f09-a8f8-1f0e78d22b18","description":"This poem was written as a gift for Rudderg33k about his otter fursona, Thomas James O'Connor.","content":"The Otter with Emerald Eyes\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nBy\n\nFoxpiper\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWandering lowly amidst the shamrock shore,  \nWas a grand creature steeped in Irish lore;  \nFor nary a soul would believe such lies,  \nOf a charming otter with emerald eyes.\n\nThough none could deny the braw beast there,  \nWith his rugged good looks and fiery red hair;  \nQuite a quare wan was he along the turning tide,  \nTil he left for the fine coastal town to abide.\u0026nbsp;\n\nDown cobblestone roads he traipsed with a smile,  \nWhich in many a wild heart he could beguile;  \nThe old villagers looked with sneers and sighs,  \nAt the rambling otter with emerald eyes.\n\nYet to the young folk the sound fella was keen,  \nGaining fondness from each lad and sweet colleen;  \nHis hypnotic allure led them all astray,  \nTo the local pub where he would spend the day.\n\nInto the tavern, he was greeted with stares,  \nTil they saw he had come to forget his cares;  \nWith a pint in his paw amongst hearty cries,  \nQuaffed the thirsty otter with emerald eyes.\u0026nbsp;\n\nOh, how he wished he could tarry longer,  \nBut he felt the black stuff getting stronger;  \nWith a flagon gone and a wee time to think,  \nHe up and left before he hore for the drink.\n\nHis absence was suddenly all that mattered,  \nWas he in a hurry or completely bladdered?  \nThus, turning to address their pile of whys,  \nSpoke the cheerful otter with emerald eyes.\n\n\"I thank ye fer lettin' me stay quite awhile,  \nThough I just be danderin' 'round Erin's isle;  \nBut don't let yer hopes all become a goner,  \nFer me name is Thomas James O'Connor.\"\u0026nbsp;\n\nWith a wag of his tail, to the hills he was bound,  \nOver babbling brooks and ancient ground;  \nOh, to live and die beneath Irish skies,  \nWent the handsome otter with emerald eyes.\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
