{"sf1_id":525341,"sf2_id":"ynZjoppn","title":"Calling Down the Moon: Prologue","author":"jimkoyot","words":595,"posted_at":"2013-04-11T20:35:00.000Z","tags":["Birth","Death","Druid","Magic","Pregnancy"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/525341-calling-down-the-moon-prologue","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/ynZjoppn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/8b/9f/8b9fa1aa-78ad-48dc-b610-2ee9c4534a0b","description":"#1 of Calling Down the Moon\n\nHere is a new story idea that i thought up while at work. it will be only a few chapters long but i thought it might be interesting.","content":"(Unknown year or location)\n\nJanuary 1,\n\nA small group of men has come into our village today.\u0026nbsp; They are all large and handsome leaving most all the women, married or not, fanning themselves in excitement.\u0026nbsp; The man at their lead made eye contact with me and I felt a chill of power from his ice blue eyes.\u0026nbsp; Times are going to be interesting with these new men around.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nJanuary 14,\n\nLife has become very interesting.\u0026nbsp; The leader, his name is Malcolm, and he is mine.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; Most men are afraid of druids but this one seems to have embraced it.\u0026nbsp; I do not understand why but it seemed to make him swoon when I told him.\u0026nbsp; Life is good with my Malcolm.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nFebruary 14,\n\nA group of men from the Baron's castle swept through our hovels yesterday.\u0026nbsp; They killed all the men from the new group and any women who were with them.\u0026nbsp; My Malcolm was the last to go and took a few out with him.\u0026nbsp; He saved my life as well, claiming to have no woman when the men finally had him beaten.\u0026nbsp; I held my composure until all of the guard was gone then broke down.\u0026nbsp; They already are weary of me being a druid and against their Christianity.\u0026nbsp; My fellow villagers do not understand this religion and choose to steer away from it.\u0026nbsp; Perhaps one day it will fade and we can live in peace with the earth and spirits.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nApril 21,\n\nI understand now why I have been ill the past couple months.\u0026nbsp; My Malcolm has gifted me with his legacy.\u0026nbsp; We still do not know why the guard slaughtered the men.\u0026nbsp; Any queries into the matter were met with an iron fist; occasionally literally.\u0026nbsp; I have been more active in hiding from the guards lately with my condition.\u0026nbsp; I do not want them to discover me pregnant when they slaughtered any woman paired with the new men.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nOctober 31,\n\nI have hid well and still performed my duties but it all comes down to the next day.\u0026nbsp; My water has broken and my child is on it's way into the world.\u0026nbsp; Whether that happens tonight or tomorrow I do not know but my child will have it's roots in All Hallow.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nNovember 7,\n\nIt was a dreadful birthing but she breathed her first breath at midnight of All Hallow.\u0026nbsp; The moment she was born a storm rolled over us and drenched the countryside.\u0026nbsp; I have thus chosen to name her Raine.\u0026nbsp; She is something special and was born with a birthmark on her lower back of a wolf's head.\u0026nbsp; Perhaps it is an omen but I have heard the howling of wolves more frequently now as well.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nDecember X\n\nThe winter solstice is upon us and I must flee.\u0026nbsp; Another woman had been pregnant and hid it well but the guards caught wind of her child.\u0026nbsp; They slaughtered her and the babe in the night and their screams awoke me.\u0026nbsp; I have seen them searching hovels this morning and am writing this just before I leave.\u0026nbsp; If I can not break free of their pursuit I will use my gift to free my daughter of their grasp.\u0026nbsp; I will send her far from here in time and location but I must make haste.\n\n(Blood is smeared and splattered across the last page; the writing is almost illegible)\n\nThey left me for dead.\u0026nbsp; My daughter is gone.\u0026nbsp; I glimpsed where she went and it is a place of great technology.\u0026nbsp; May she live in peace.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Calling Down the Moon","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/623085-first-meeting.json"}}
