#1 of Calling Down the Moon

Here is a new story idea that i thought up while at work. it will be only a few chapters long but i thought it might be interesting.

(Unknown year or location)

January 1,

A small group of men has come into our village today. They are all large and handsome leaving most all the women, married or not, fanning themselves in excitement. The man at their lead made eye contact with me and I felt a chill of power from his ice blue eyes. Times are going to be interesting with these new men around.

January 14,

Life has become very interesting. The leader, his name is Malcolm, and he is mine. Most men are afraid of druids but this one seems to have embraced it. I do not understand why but it seemed to make him swoon when I told him. Life is good with my Malcolm.

February 14,

A group of men from the Baron's castle swept through our hovels yesterday. They killed all the men from the new group and any women who were with them. My Malcolm was the last to go and took a few out with him. He saved my life as well, claiming to have no woman when the men finally had him beaten. I held my composure until all of the guard was gone then broke down. They already are weary of me being a druid and against their Christianity. My fellow villagers do not understand this religion and choose to steer away from it. Perhaps one day it will fade and we can live in peace with the earth and spirits.

April 21,

I understand now why I have been ill the past couple months. My Malcolm has gifted me with his legacy. We still do not know why the guard slaughtered the men. Any queries into the matter were met with an iron fist; occasionally literally. I have been more active in hiding from the guards lately with my condition. I do not want them to discover me pregnant when they slaughtered any woman paired with the new men.

October 31,

I have hid well and still performed my duties but it all comes down to the next day. My water has broken and my child is on it's way into the world. Whether that happens tonight or tomorrow I do not know but my child will have it's roots in All Hallow.

November 7,

It was a dreadful birthing but she breathed her first breath at midnight of All Hallow. The moment she was born a storm rolled over us and drenched the countryside. I have thus chosen to name her Raine. She is something special and was born with a birthmark on her lower back of a wolf's head. Perhaps it is an omen but I have heard the howling of wolves more frequently now as well.

December X

The winter solstice is upon us and I must flee. Another woman had been pregnant and hid it well but the guards caught wind of her child. They slaughtered her and the babe in the night and their screams awoke me. I have seen them searching hovels this morning and am writing this just before I leave. If I can not break free of their pursuit I will use my gift to free my daughter of their grasp. I will send her far from here in time and location but I must make haste.

(Blood is smeared and splattered across the last page; the writing is almost illegible)

They left me for dead. My daughter is gone. I glimpsed where she went and it is a place of great technology. May she live in peace.
