Thinly veiled rl interpersonal problems. Minor plot points.","content":" Gina CatGirl 2) Growing Up Furry  \n  \nGina CatGirl, nee' Rodriguez, was the Pussy Pride's baitfur.  \nJust thirteen, mom went away somewhere, brother out with friends, dad  \nkilled trying to stop a holdup. The Pride was her family now.  \n  \nAll the Pride's furs had been human once, but got Biological  \nSynthetics Incorporated trans-fur-mations. Their leader, the European  \nLion, couldn't get into the USA legally without proof of birth, parent-  \nage, and citizenship. Most of his past was vague, and Lion wanted it  \nthat way, so he'd sneaked in on a student visa and just forgot to  \nleave. His Leopardess lover had let him in, and let him out when he  \nwanted. BioSyn's 'scientific studies' were their way around the cops.  \n  \nLeopardess had always been sexy, slinky, and smart. She liked  \nliving alone because nobody messed with her, but once she saw Lion as  \na human she wanted a friend, and he intrigued her. Mostly at night  \nalone together. The pair went furry together and never looked back.  \n  \nMuscular Tiger had been in the wrong place, like Gina. He was  \ntough, but there was always someone tougher as he grew up, he had the  \nscars to prove it. Street fighting had kept him limber, but one night  \na gang of toughs beat him to a fightring, and then just beat him up.  \nHe staggered to a local ER, got BioSyn blood, and woke up ... Tiger.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; The Cheetahs had been rich kids, and all the others were  \njealous of them until they benefited from the money. Brother and  \nsister, they liked each other more than they should, and got into  \ntrouble. So they took their bank accounts, stocks, bonds, and what-  \never else rich people have, left their home and human forms behind,  \nand talked to BioSyn.  \n  \nThe Furson catalog was a real eye-opener for anyone thinking  \nabout Going Furry. A quick history of Mark and Tom, BioSyn, taxonomy.  \nBSI mostly did Mammal work, mostly Carnivores, because most people  \npaid for that sort of work. Oh, there were some Horses and Birds, even  \nfanciful combos, like griffins or unicorns. BioSyn also did Scalies,  \nthough few people wanted to crawl around like lizards or snakes. More  \npeople thought they wanted to be Dragons but chickened out when they  \nrealized they wouldn't fit in elevators or through doors.  \n  \nThis wasn't just a costume, it was real life; and it was pretty  \nwell permanent, no going back to human if you didn't like it. Your body  \nwas being changed, parts replaced, they could \\*try\\* to keep your human  \nDNA but it's unlikely it would help. You really became the animal you  \npicked, you'd walk mostly upright like a human but with fur, fangs,  \ntail, snout with nose at the end and longer jaws. Eyes and ears  \nchange, some new fursons had trouble with the increased sensitivity.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; And furry animals have paws, not fingers. Anything that needed  \nfingers, like stretching to fit the octaves on a piano, was no longer  \npossible. Oh, it's not quite like a real cat or dog, they can't hold  \nanything; but fingers get shorter and nails more clawlike. That's  \nbecause your DNA gets rewritten to handle the other changes. If you  \ngo Bird, you lose your teeth amd hands, because they become beaks and  \nwings, longer to allow flight. If you go Dragon you lose hands too,  \nbecause they become front feet, and you add a tail and the two wings,  \nthat's seven extremities to keep track of.  \n  \nInsane asylums are full of half-furries, people go nuts trying  \nto deal with the reality of different bodies. They think everything  \nwill be really cool, they'll just add abilities, they don't think of  \nthe consequences. It's pretty messed up, and they're really unhappy,  \nbut nobody forced them furry, it's their own decision, they were told  \nhow it'd be before the operations. It's their own fault if they don't  \nlike getting what they wished for!  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; BioSyn docs aren't mad scientists cackling over bound victims,  \nthey know their stuff. They usually do part-furry work, you still look  \nhuman but with fur. They do more Cats than Dogs, because Cats have  \nshorter muzzles, easier to get used to. But some couples pay for  \ndifferent work, like when the guy gets a Dog Job while the gal gets  \na Cat Job. Just think of it, Dogs and Cats, living together!  \n  \n\\* \\* \\*  \n  \nTigress was almost seventeen, a few years younger than the  \nadult Tiger. She too was sexy and slinky, but more athletic than  \nLeopardess. She'd found furry websites and got hooked. Especially  \nBioSyn.cq and the semi-public chats. She enjoyed typing with others  \ninterested in people who looked like animals. Even the borderline-  \nporno sites with stories and bondage-y art, because she could dish  \nit out and take it too, and she wanted to prove it.  \n  \nLion and Tiger and even Leopardess were OK with testing her.  \nThe four of them got together before the Cheetahs and Jaguars and  \nCat-ette joined the Pride. Tigress was excited to be treated like an  \nadult, not just a nerd who could trick computers. That wasn't really  \nhard, they're just machines, they don't know or care who you are. Just  \nas you should always lock your car and take the keys, because the lock  \ndoesn't know if it's the owner, or a parking valet, or a car thief  \nholding the key.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; Never store your computer passwords, or write them down, or  \nuse easy-to-crack passwords like your wife's name. You remember your  \nfriends' names, why not a password you made up? Lois\u0026Clark. Tigress  \nhad no sympathy for the idiots who wrote their PINs on their ATM  \ncards! Like no one would ever think to look there! She just laughed  \ncruelly and cleaned the suckers out.  \n  \nSo she liked having a Pride of fursons to help her, distract  \nthe marks while she got the money. Then run. She liked the Cheetahs'  \nattitude and skill; Tiger and Leopardess had the muscle, Lion the  \nbrains. The Jaguars had stealth, humans weren't bright enough to look  \nfor the fur markings to ID them. They'd just see 'black cat' and didn't  \ncheck for two, so even if the dummies called the cops, they'd get a  \ndescription they couldn't use. Just round up all the black cats in  \ntown?! Hundreds in a line-up, no human could recognize just one, they  \nusually couldn't even remember the species!  \n  \nHumans were so easy to steal from, it wasn't a challenge. No  \ntest of skill. Cat Power and reflexes kept the Pride ahead of the cops  \nand PIs. But when the Pride saw Gina CatGirl wandering around, they  \nknew they had another option in their lives of crime. Furs are pretty  \nfriendly anyway, and these friends knew an opportunity when they  \nscented it. They eased Gina into their lifestyle a little at a time.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; Gina Rodriguez had always been a bit of a coquette, drawing  \nlooks and admiration from both men and women. Now she had male and  \nfemale fursons cooing over her, welcoming her to her new life of furry  \ncrime. The other Pussy Pride members distracted marks by sleight of  \npaw; Cat-ette kept their attention even when they thought they knew  \nwhat was happening. Her light gray, white, and dark gray fur got the  \nbetter of them; especially the men, dirty-minded bastards, looking for  \nbottom or bosom to show from her dress when she cat-stretched. Even  \nwomen stared at her, admiring her grace and letting their guards down  \nto help the poor lost young cat she pretended to be.  \n  \nHumans were easy to fool. So trusting, so eager to watch the  \ncute kitty, so stupidly indignant when the dense fools realized they'd  \nbeen had. If they ever did. The Pussy Pride wasn't dumb enough to stick  \naround to get caught, but the Cheetahs or Jaguars would hang back and  \nguard their retreat. Then they'd sorta saunter back to the Lair, named  \n'cause that's where they lay around, and split the money. Lion's smarts  \nand the Cheetah's connections got the best prices for the rest. But  \neveryfur had a part to play, not even Lion wanted to go it alone. They  \nknew they had a good thing going, and it would stay that way if and  \nonly if they stayed together.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; Oh, sure, there were disagreements sometimes. The furs weren't  \nstupid, and it wasn't a cult of Lion. Everyfur had their own ideas, and  \nthey got heated sometimes defending themselves. But the hard, fast rule  \neven Lion obeyed was, think it through! Just thinking a job would be  \ncool to pull off, or some trinket would be to die for, wasn't enough.  \nThey saw on the news, furs who really did die trying to get just one  \nmore big score!  \n  \nSometimes they went off on their own, and got to keep what they  \nstole. Some were better at it than others, and Lion made sure that a  \ngroup score was divided a bit more for those that hadn't taken their  \nown stuff. It was even OK to get angry, just as long as you realized it  \nand didn't let jealousy or anger cloud your judgement. Lion let furs  \ntake their lumps if they went off and missed or even got caught! How  \nelse could they learn?  \n  \nAnd that was the whole point. Fursons were there to help if you  \nneeded it but not do it for you. If you got less stuff one time, learn  \nand do better next time. Don't just reach for stuff, think and plan  \nand try a model in the Lair, get everyfur to help with the real caper.  \nDon't just rest on past achievement; see what worked and what didn't;  \nfigure out why it went right or wrong, do more of the right stuff.  \nThen everyfur benefits!  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; It was only the puny Humans who got cheated, and it was mostly  \ntheir own fault.--  \n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"CatGirl","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/525479-gina-catgirl-1.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/531256-gina-catgirl-3.json"}}
