Old Tate Michaels coming over for that long-overdue visit I had promised, for him, me and Cobb to catch up. It'd been gone for weeks now, the back and forth over trying to decide a suitable date. I was glad we'd managed to clear something up. He seemed to be really busy nowadays...well, so was I, too, of course, but at least we got that night for free. Just a simple evening. We weren't going to be sitting through the night drinking, no matter if Cobb might try to turn the night into a kegger. Just some food, lots of chatting, and hoping that Cobb didn't make too big of an ass about himself. I felt kind of nervous, though...so many years had passed, and it all seemed so far away and yet...thinking about all that...the swaggering kid fox...belching out obscenities...pointing and laughing...generally being a nuisance...\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI tensed thinking about it. I knew I shouldn't. He sounded different on the messages. He'd talked openly about how sorry he was and how he didn't like thinking about that. I doubted having a nice evening in would include tearing open old wounds over some silly high school sports rivalry. He seemed level-headed enough on those messages. But I couldn't see his face or hear his voice when he wrote those words...words weren't that easy without a face. I felt that same thing even now, of course, trying to see if Rory would be up to for an extra relaxing afternoon.
