I swear,\" she whispered kissing him softly\non the cheek before racing off into the forest to the east.\n Cervix sighed then flinched as the\nKing and his knights skidded to a halt behind him panting heavily\nfrom their hastened pace. The king caught his breathing bending to\nhis knees trying to catch his. He grunted then leaned up grabbing the\nlabrador by the throat.\n \"Where is IT!\" He roared into\nthe dog's face making him tremble in fear.\n \"I saw her running west towards\nhighland gulch,\" Cervix chocked out struggling to get his feet back\non the ground.\n The knights stood patiently in\ntheir chain mail waiting for the king's instructions. The king looked\nover at them before tossing the dog down hard on the grassy earth.\n \"Move! Now! I've never lost my\nprey in a hunt,\" he called out getting a loud cheer from his men.\n The great lion turned quickly\nspinning his flowing cape behind him before speeding off into the\ntrees followed by his loyal group. Cervix knew it wouldn't be long\nbefore the king realized he lied and started after her again. The dog\nhad to get prince Kota to help him save his friend. If only he had\ntried to save her sooner she wouldn't be running for her life in the\ndark underneath a full moon. Cervix knew the king would kill her once\nhe trapped her as his custom was with the monthly hunt. He raced back\ntowards the castle trying to formulate a plan that would save her and\nallow him to keep his head. He couldn't remember why he didn't tell\nhis master soon. \"What happened?\" he thought as he raced against\nthe king and his blood thirsty knights.\n Earlier that day\n\n Cervix\nheld the serving tray as the small otter master chef placed a few\nslices of pie and cups of fresh apple cider down on to it. The tray\nteetered and the white fur otter angrily grabbed the edges. He shook\nhis head shooing the dog with a paw. Cervix sighed carrying the load\nout of the kitchen. Master chef was mean. The otter couldn't have\nbeen more than 50 to 60 seasons old but had the cooking skills of\nsome one with at least 150. The black lab balanced his tray and\ncarried down the dark cobble stone hallway towards the entrance to\nthe court yard. He squinted his eyes as the afternoon sun radiated\ndown on him. It was a very beautiful spring afternoon and the trills\nof birdsong could be heard along with the rustle of the fruit tree\nleaves that swayed in the wind. Near a large fountain to the eastern\nwall, underneath a large apple tree, Prince Kota and Princess Hidee\nwere chatting idly enjoying the weather. Cervix wobbled over and\nplaced the tray down and served them both placing a plate of pie and\na cup of cider down in front of them.\n \"Master chef\nhas offered blueberry pie and cider for this afternoon snacks,\"\nCervix said with a bow before sitting down off to the prince's right\nside.\n \"I love a\ngood slice of pie. Um Cervix honey, you forgot the silverware,\" the\nprincess pointed out looking at the empty tray.\n The prince\nchuckled shaking his head at his servant laying down and leaning on a\npaw. He closed his eyes and brushed his short mane as a cloud's\nshadow shaded the dog rising to his feet. He placed his crown to his\nside and rolled over on to his back listening to the sounds of Cervix\nfading footsteps. He sat up after he was sure the dog had left and\npicked the pie up.\n \"I'm not too\nprissy to eat pie with out a fork and knife,\" he said taking a bite\nspilling filling down his red and black robe front.\n \"That's\nwhy your supposed to use utensils messy lion,\" she sighed pulling\nout her handkerchief dabbing at the lion's mouth and chin.\n\n The male smiled\nand nodded placing the plate down and licking his fingers.\"Wish\nhe'd hurry.\"\n Cervix grumbled with his ears\nfolded through the castle back towards the kitchen. His paws were\ncrossed as he marched along the floor moving past the golden candle\nholders empty on the wall. He had seen the small leopard candle\nworker a few times replacing and lighting them at night. There were a\nlot of different furs working in the castle and he was on friendly\nterms with most of them. Most except for the Salin the black\nschipperke dog that belonged to the king. For some reason he always\nstared daggers at him and did little things to try and get him in\ntrouble. One after noon Salin saw him coming around the corner\ncarrying a large tray for the prince and tripped him. He spent a week\nin the infirmary with the Prince calling him a klutz for twisting his\nankle doing something so simple. Cervix decided to take the back way\nto the kitchen hoping to avoid any knights or the king himself. Since\npets weren't allowed clothing he was naked and picked on by a few of\nthe knights. Boris, the axe wielding black panther of the group\nalways threatened to bend him over if he ever caught him alone. He\nwasn't sure if the male was teasing or not considering he was mated\nto a beautiful panther who was with child. He made it to the kitchen\nand knocked on the door.\n \"WHAT!?!\" the master chef\nyelled poking his cute furry head from behind the door with a nasty\nscowl on his face.\n \"I need to get some forks and\nknifes,\" Cervix said holding up his paws dismissively.\n\n Cervix leaned in looking into the\nkitchen at the six brown otters that worked in the kitchen. The aroma\nof cooking chicken and assorted vegetables aroused his nose and made\nhis mouth water. He couldn't wait to get the prince's left overs. The\nhelpings were so massive he always got plenty to eat. He couldn't say\nthat with his last master. The old badger had been a really nice\nmaster and was grateful that such a kind beast had been his owner.\nThe silver and black striped mammal had treated him like a son and\ntried his best to care for him until he finally passed from old age.\n \"Here,\" the master chef snapped\nhanding the dog a pair of knives and forks.\n \"Thanks, anything I can sample?\"\nCervix asked smiling happily perking his ears up high.\n \"Sure. The bark on my door,\"\nthe otter laughed slamming the door.\n Cervix rolled his eyes and walked\nback down towards the royal garden. \"No respect,\" he thought to\nhimself still smelling the tasty fumes coming from the kitchen. He\ntraced a digit over the wall as he walked humming a tune the princess\nhummed while her servant brushed her coat. The small black poodle was\nprobably changing her sheets and straitening up her room as she sat\nwith her brother. He turned the corner and collided hard with a white\nrabbit. Cervix fell flat on his back dropping his silverware with a\nclatter. The rabbit rolled a few times before banging to a stop\nagainst the wall. Cervix jumped up quickly shaking his head free of\nthe spots and crawled over to the motionless animal. The rabbit was\nfemale and naked covered in dirt and dust.\n\n \"Hey, you okay. Wake up,\" he\ncalled prodding her softly with his index digit.\n She jumped up to her feet quickly\nand slammed her paw down between Cervix furry ears. He howled and\ngripped his head.\n \"The hell'd you do that for? Ow,\"\nhe grumbled checking his paw for blood.\n She was about to run when she\nnoticed he was naked like her. The rabbit quickly clung to him and\nsobbed into his chest.\n \"Help me, please. There going to\nkill me,\" she cried as Cervix looked down at her.\n Cervix placed his paws on her upper\narms and shook his head sadly.\n \"I'm a pet, just the prince's\nservant. I don't think I can do anything,\" he said wishing he could\ndo more.\n \"Please. Once a month they chase\non of us down and kills us. Don't let me be another game piece for\nthe king,\" she begged pouring tears into his chest fur.\n Cervix took a breath and couldn't\ndo anything but think back on the wooden stand of \"Death's ladder\".\nThe last thing he wanted was to end up standing in front of the\nexecutioner for stopping the king from his monthly hunting session.\nHe clearly remembered the rope around his neck a 8 seasons ago and\ndidn't ever want to feel that again.\n \"I-I can't. If I get caught\nhelping you... they'll kill me too,\" he mumbled trying not to look\ninto her pleading blue eyes.\n She wiped her eyes and shook her\nhead in disgust at him. She bit her lip and turned around putting her\nback to him.\n\n \"If you were ever about to lose\nyour life, I'd help you. I'm that kind of person,\" she whispered\ncoldly taking off down the hallway.\n Cervix growled feeling the sting of\nher words. If it wasn't for Prince Kota his existence would have\nalready ended. He was given a second chance at life thanks to\nanother's kindness and now he felt the need of a returned favor\nknocking at his heart. \"Would Prince Kota save him a second time,\"\nhe thought to himself.\n \"WAIT,\" Cervix yelled dashing\ndown the hallway after her.\n The silverware lay forgotten on the\nfloor as Cervix chased after her. Leaning against the wall on the\nother side of the wall wear they had been standing, Salin was bent\neavesdropping. The small dog's snout turned up into an evil smile as\nhe walked over and picked up the forks and knives.\n\n Cervix closed the wardrobe and\nstood back. He smiled opening the chest back up pulling the prince's\nrobes back revealing the white rabbit. She smiled letting her ear\ndroop into he paw as she held it.\n \"Thanks so much. I'm Ana by the\nway. You should at least know the name of the person your helping,\"\nshe said smiling and pulling her knees closer to her chest.\n \"Mine's Cervix. Are you going to\nbe okay in there?\" he asked slowly cracking the door.\n \"I'll be alive, So yes,\" she\nexclaimed cheerfully.\n \"I have to close it. I hear\nsomeone coming,\" Cervix whispered closing the door.\n The king stuck his head into the\nroom and looked around. He spotted Cervix and motioned a paw for him\nto come over. The king leaned down and placed a paw under the dog's\nchin smiling deceptively nice.\n\n \"Have you seen a rabbit Cervix.\nDon't lie to your king now.\" the lion said eying the dog fiercely.\n The big cat had his tongue and he\ncould do nothing but stand with his mouth open as the king stared\ndown at him. Cervix tried to utter something but was saved as the\nPrince came in swirling his robes around him.\n \"Cervix you Klutz. You were\nsupposed to fetch utensils. Can I help you father?\" the prince\nasked as the king straitened up.\n\n \"No son. I'm looking for my prey\nfor the evening. My knights and I have been growing restless for this\nmonth's hunt. Keep an eye out,\" he said brushing impatiently past\nthe prince.\n Kota sighed and turned his\nattention to Cervix crossing his paws. \"Dad and his barbaric hunt.\nI swear when I'm king that will be the first thing to go.\n \"You'll be the greatest king ever\nyour majesty. Just wait and see,\" Cervix said beaming happily and\nwagging his tail.\n The lion smiled and placed a paw on\nhis head ruffling the head fur. Cervix tried to fight back the urge\nwhine when the prince touched the spot Ana had whacked on their first\nencounter. He yawned and started stripping down his clothes causing\nCervix to scramble towards the wardrobe. The lion watched him\ncuriously as the dog pulled out his white night robe. He handed to\nthe king in exchange for his daily one and stepped aside as the\nprince crawled into bed.\n \"I need a small nap before\ndinner. Wake me when Hidee comes by will ya,\" he yawned deeply\nstretching his legs and rolling on his side.\n\n \"Sure thing my prince,\" Cervix\nwhispered sitting on the bed beside the king's right side.\n It wasn't long before the mid size\nlion drifted off into a peaceful slumber. Cervix carefully slid off\nthe bed and tip pawed his paw to the wardrobe and gently tugged it\nopen.\n\n \"Ana, Ana it's me,\" he\nwhispered pulling back the robes.\n She smiled and raised her long ears\ninto the air and shifted her weight from one cheek to the other. Her\nstomach growled and Cervix sighed.\n \"I can't help it. All I had was a\nhead of lettuce the guard threw into my pin,\" she whispered back\nholding her belly stomach as it groaned again.\n \"I'll bring you something after\nthe prince finishes his dinner. I'm really only allowed to leave his\nside when he asks me to go and do something for him.\"\n \"Thanks Cervix. Your my hero.\"\n \"So where are you from?\" Cervix\nasked curiously.\n \"I was born in Sandy Peak but I\nhave no memories of it. My family was captured by a slave trader and\nwe were sold in Highland Gulch. I lived there until the slave trader\nTabari bought me for the king's hunt. I had another white male rabbit\nwith me but he was sick and passed away. What about you.\"\n \"My earliest memories were in\nRock Grove. I was always a slave though. My family had been in\nservice by a pretty tough boar and ended up selling me to my old\nbadger master. When he died I didn't know what to do and tried to get\nfood from one of the carts around in the merchant yard. I got busted\nand sentenced to death. Prince Kota saved me,\" he replied.\n \"You were sentenced to death for\nbeing hungry? That's harsh.\"\n \"The king is a very harsh lion.\nDo you have a place to go if I can get you outside of the castle?\"\nCervix asked looking hopefully into her blue eyes.\n \"I could always go back to Sandy\nPeak. Or anywhere that I wont end up dead,\" she replied.\n \"Okay good. I'll see what I can\ndo after the prince wakes up.\n \"Thanks again for your help\nCervix. By the way, Do you think I could step out of here and stretch\nmy legs.\n The black lab's eyes went wide and\nshut the door quickly.\n \"I'll take that as a no then?\"\nshe muffled from the inside.\n Cervix padded to the prince's bed\nand climbed back into his spot behind his master. He had to tell the\nlion soon he was harboring the rabbit so she would have a chance. He\nwas afraid that the prince wouldn't defy his father and allow the\nhunt to go on. He had to find away to get her out. When the prince\nwoke up he would tell him. He yawned softly and closed his eyes\ncurling up beside the lion. He drifted off to sleep with visions of\nsaving Ana and running through the woods to safety.\n Cervix yawned sitting up and\nlooking around. He wiped slobber from his muzzle and fixed his eyes\non the spot the prince was supposed to be laying. He frantically\nturned to the wardrobe seeing the wooden chest doors wide open. \"Oh\nno,\" he thought to himself running over to the clothes case and\nshoving the robes back. Ana was gone. Cervix whimpered thinking the\nworst possible outcomes. He dropped to his knees and pounded the\nfloor wishing he had of said something to the prince. He looked up at\nthe empty wardrobe and placed a paw on the spot she would have been\nsitting.\n \"You okay Cervix?\" Ana asked\nfrom under the bed.\n Cervix dropped down quickly staring\ninto the face of the white pink nose rabbit.\n \"I thought they got you. What the\nheck are you doing under the bed,\" he asked angrily.\n \"Some small black dog came poking\nin and found me in the wardrobe. He ran off saying he was going to\ntell the king and bring him here.\"\n \"Damn that Salin. We have to get\nyou out of here. The king will be here any minute,\" Cervix said\nreaching down and grabbing her paw.\n The black lab heaved her from under\nthe bed and helped her to her feet. She dusted herself with one paw\nas Cervix grabbed the other and ushered her out the prince's room\ninto the hallway. A loud roar boomed out through the castle as the\nschipperke told the king where the rabbit was hiding. Cervix shivered\nfrom head to toe but kept moving towards the royal garden. There was\na small wicker gate that was used by the gardeners to get back and\nforth from the castle that he wanted to use to escape. They panted\nheavily as they rounded the corner down by the kitchen. Salin was\nstanding in the door way to the kitchen and met eyes with Cervix as\nthe pair went by. His dark brown eyes stared into Cervix green eyes\nwith such contempt and loathsomeness. Cervix stared back seeing the\ncold smile across his muzzle. It looked eerily similar to the one the\nking always wore when ever he was cutting down an execution victim.\n\n \"That's him Cervix. That's the\ndog,\" Ana screamed catching sight of Salin speeding up and dragging\nthe black labrador behind her.\n \"He's the least of our troubles\nright now. Don't stop,\" he wheezed charging forward matching her\nstride out of the castle and into the royal garden.\n Cervix heard the king's roar fill\nthe air again growing closer as the raced through the fruit trees and\nlow hanging weeping willows. The light of the full moon cascaded down\nilluminating the well manicured bushes and flower beds. Ana spotted\nthe wicker gate and let go of Cervix paw pulling on the handle trying\nto free the door.\n \"You have to pull the bar,\" He\nsaid reaching up and pulling the slide from the piece that held the\ngate shut.\n The sound of chain mail and armor\nrattled behind them in the distance. Cervix looked over his shoulder\nand saw the king leading the knights down the hallway through a\nwindow. They were almost at the entrance to the garden and Cervix was\nsure the king would break his neck. The gate opened freely once the\npiece was removed. Ana shoved it open and Cervix by the paw tugging\nhim along behind her.\n \"If we make it, tell that black\npoodle servant I said thanks for the food,\" she said looking over\nher shoulder seeing the king enter the courtyard.\n \"Wait, Ida? When did you see\nher?\"\n \"She came in and brought the\nprince's clean robes in. I told her my story and she offered to bring\nme something to eat. I hope she doesn't get into trouble,\" she\nsaid as she ran full speed under the moonlight.\n They ran swiftly paw in paw over\nthe clearing between the castle and the forest as the wind whipped\npast them. Cervix looked over his shoulder again as the pair came to\na stop at the edge of the forest. The king was closing fast and would\nbe on them shortly.\n\n \"Run, please don't let them\ncatch you. Cervix raced back\nthrough the wicker gate and up to the castle.\n The labrador ran to the prince's\nroom at full speed stumbling to a stop in front of the large chamber.\nHe heaved the door open and looked around. Prince Kota hadn't\nreturned to his room yet. With such a large castle it would be hard\nto pin point where the prince could be. He raced towards the dining\nhall in hoped the prince was with the princess enjoying dinner.\nCervix knew the king was a master hunter and would notice that there\nwere no broken twigs or bent saplings from the distressed running\nrabbit. Once again the prince was no where to be found. Cervix\nwhimpered standing in the empty dining hall. He didn't want his new\nfriend to die because he couldn't find help. He spotted Ida cleaning\nup a set of plates that had princess Hidee's handkerchief on them. He\ngrabbed the small poodle by her shoulders and looked into her eyes.\n \"Ida please. Where's the prince,\"\nhe coughed bending over trying to catch his breath.\n \"I saw him leave a little while\nago heading towards the slave building. He was in a hurry,\" she\nsaid stepping around the dog with her load.\n Cervix groaned at the prince's\ntiming. He was going to pick out a sex toy for the night right when\nhe needed him.\n\n \"Where's your little rabbit\nfriend. I hope she finds a safe place to hide,\" she said shaking\nher head sounding motherly as she always did.\n \"Thanks Ida, your the best,\" he\nsaid kissing her on the cheek before dashing off.\n\n Cervix tore off through the castle\nspeeding past the leopard candle worker. The candle he was working on\nflickered but kept its flame. The leopard wiped a brow and watched\nthe dog turn the corner. The lab reached the front of the castle and\nstopped as the king marched happily through the front panting\nhappily. The knights were joking with each other excitedly about\ntonight's hunt teasing each other letting prince Kota be the one to\ncatch and kill the prey. Cervix heart dropped as he saw prince Kota\ncarrying the lifeless rabbit body. He stepped against the wall as the\nking walked up and stopped in front of him.\n \"Kota tells me your the one that\nfound the rabbit. I guess letting you live pays off,\" the king\nchuckled walking by.\n Cervix stood rooted to the spot\nconfused on the events that were happening. He followed the group as\nthey marched happily conversing with one another. Cervix spotted\nSalin still standing in the doorway to the kitchen. His smile was\nstill the same as he looked up at the dog. Cervix growled staring\ndown wanting to rip his head off.\n \"Why didn't you tell the king on\nme,\" Cervix growled deeply.\n The dog crossed his paws and leaned\nhis against the doorway and said simply,\"I can't torment you if\nyour dead. Cervix clenched his teeth and continued walking down the\ncobblestone floor. The dog saw Kota pad up to his father and prod the\nlion with an elbow.\n \"Since I caught and killed it can\nI drop it off at the executioners for removal,\" he said happily.\n The lion stopped and smiled down\nproudly at his son. He nodded and placed a paw on his shoulder.\n \"I never thought you had it in\nyou son. I hope you'll follow in my paw steps,\" he said nodding to\nhis knights and marching off for the night.\n Cervix padded thoroughly\ndisheartened at the loss of his friend. Cervix trailed the lion as he\nmoved quietly down the hall.\n\n \"Next time you want to play\nsavior, inform me,\" the lion snapped causing Cervix ears to fold as\nhis tail tucked.\n \"I wanted to save her sir. I\njust... She was like me,\" he said with a whimper.\n The lion smiled and nodded his head\nin agreement.\n\n \"That's why were never going to\ntell anyone about the little trick I pulled tonight,\" he whispered\nlooking around and lowering the rabbit a little so Cervix could see.\n The rabbit was white but wasn't\nAna. This rabbit was bigger and male. The king was so excited his son\nhad made the kill he didn't bother to look at the body.\n \"I keep tabs on all the slaves\nthat come in just in case I want one. I heard this male died of\nsickness and figured he wouldn't mind being used to save a life,\"\nhe said smiling down at the dog.\n Cervix smiled brightly as he\nunderstood. Ida must have told Prince Kota that the rabbit was hiding\nin the wardrobe from the start. He shook his head at his master's\ngenius and followed him to the executioner. He hoped he never saw Ana\nagain so she could live some where safe in peace. All he wanted was\nfor her to make it home and be free. He walked behind his master like\na second shadow happy the prince would be king someday soon. He\ncouldn't wait to be the shadow of a king.\nLonewolf- This one goes out to Blazaboi.
