{"sf1_id":591835,"sf2_id":null,"title":"The Housepet Games: Chapter Three","author":"ThisAdamGuy","words":409,"posted_at":"2013-09-18T04:40:00.000Z","tags":["Action","Adventure","Fanfiction","Humor","Hunger Games","housepets","psychic","webcomic"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/591835-the-housepet-games-chapter-three","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/view/591835","image_url":"https://www.sofurryfiles.com/std/thumb?page=591835\u0026ext=.jpg","description":"","content":"\nChapter Three\n \nKing was running through the forest as fast as his tiny legs\nwould carry him.\nStupid little dog\nbody, he growled inside his head.  Why couldn't that stupid bird turn me into a\nRottweiler or something?\nBut he didn't stop. \nGlancing over his shoulder, he could only just make out the cornucopia\nin the distance.  His heart began to beat\nfaster with fear.  Where was\neverybody?  They could be anywhere in\nthis forest.  Ready to jump out and stick\na sword though his...\n\"Raaaaugh!\" someone cried, springing out from behind a tree.\n\"Aaah!\" King screamed, unable to stop himself from barreling\nstraight into his attacker.  He knocked\nthem both over, and they rolled across the ground for a few feet before coming\nto a rest.\n\"Oh, King, it's you!\" Fox exclaimed.  In his hand, he held a spear that was taller\nthan he was.\n\"Fox?\" King asked, springing to his feet.  \"You're coming after me?!\"\n\"Not intentionally,\" Fox explained.  \"I just heard you coming.\"\nKing glanced around, desperately searching for something to\nfend the larger dog off with.\n\"Hmm...\" Fox murmured.  \"I've\ngot an idea!  How about you and I work\ntogether to beat the others?\"\n\"What good will that do?\" King demanded.  \"We'll still have to fight each other\neventually.\"\n\"We can worry about that when we get to it,\" Fox said.  \"For now, all I know is that we'll both be a\nlot better off if we work together.\"\nKing considered this. \nFox was right, he realized.  With\nhis diminutive size, not to mention his lack of a weapon, King was at a great\ndisadvantage.\n\"All right,\" he agreed.\n\"Cool!\" Fox exclaimed, clapping his friend on the back.  \"Let's go hunt some losers!\"\nAs the two of them walked, Fox continued to talk, \"You know,\nI'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would.  This is exciting!\"\n\"You don't happen to have anything else on you that I can\nfight with, do you?\" King asked.\n\"Well, I've got this,\" Fox pulled out a curved knife.  It was short in the larger dog's hands, but\nin King's paws it was the size of a sword.\n\"Sure, that'll work,\" King agreed, taking a couple of\npractice swings with it.\n\"Now we're talking!\" Fox whooped in exhilaration.  \"Let's go win this thing!\"\nAs they continued walking, though, King couldn't stop one\nlast dark thought creeping through his mind.\nBut\nthere can only be one winner..."}
