{"sf1_id":592188,"sf2_id":null,"title":"The Housepet Games: Chapter Six","author":"ThisAdamGuy","words":539,"posted_at":"2013-09-19T03:32:00.000Z","tags":["Action","Adventure","Fanfiction","Humor","Hunger Games","housepets","psychic","webcomic"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/592188-the-housepet-games-chapter-six","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/view/592188","image_url":"https://www.sofurryfiles.com/std/thumb?page=592188\u0026ext=.jpg","description":"","content":"\nChapter Six\n \nKing had no idea where he was going as he ran from\nPeanut.  This was bad.  He'd already lost his partner, and there were\nstill four other players besides him. \nHis chances weren't looking good.\nCalm down, he told\nhimself.  It's just a game, right?  Peanut\ndidn't actually kill Fox!\"\nTo his dismay, this did little to calm his nerves.  Adrenaline was coursing through his veins,\ndulling his senses and telling him to run. \nHe was so desperate to get SOMEWHERE that he nearly ran right out into a\nsmall clearing.  He realized what he was\nseeing just in time, though, and skidded to a halt.  Good thing too, he realized, because there\nwas Max, waiting for someone to venture stupidly out into the open.  He had a knife in one hand, held by the\nblade, ready to be thrown.\nKing dropped to the ground before Max could see him.  His body trembled with fright.  It's just a game, he reminded himself.  It's just a stupid game!  He chanced a look up, and saw that Max still\nhadn't seen him.  He stayed that way for\na few moments, a plan slowly forming in his head.\nThere were plenty of trees and bushes surrounding the clearing.  If King could stay low, he could probably use\nit to sneak around Max without being detected. \nIn this case, his tiny stature would actually come in handy!  Having no other option, King began to crawl\nacross the ground on his belly.  It took\nseveral minutes, and he constantly forced himself to stop to make sure Max hadn't\ncaught wind of him, but eventually he managed to get behind Max's back.  But just as he was about to stand up and take\noff again, another idea popped into his head. \nHe glanced down at his knife, and then back at Max.  The cat was still staring off in the other\ndirection, completely oblivious to King's presence.\nInstead of getting up, King altered his course and began\ncrawling towards Max.  He went even\nslower this time, pausing every few seconds to make sure the cat didn't catch\nhis scent.  When he was within arm's\nreach, he slowly stood up, his whole body trembling.  His breath caught in his throat, creating a\nsoft hiccupping sound.\n\"What the carp?\" Max exclaimed, spinning around.\nKing didn't give the cat time to react.  He raised his knife and drove it into Max's\nchest as hard as he could.  Eyes wide\nwith shock, Max stumbled backwards before falling onto his rump.\n\"You?\" he choked.  \"No\nway!\"\nWith that, he fell to his back and vanished in a cloud of\nsmoke, just as Fox had.  For over a\nminute, King could only stand there, hardly able to believe that he was still\nalive.  Finally, he regained his senses\nand stepped forward to retrieve his knife.  Maybe, just maybe, things would work out\nbetter than he'd thought!\nThe sound of a sword being pulled from its scabbard caused\nhim to spin around in fright.  There stood\nGrape, holding her weapon towards him, ready to put it to use.\n\"My name is Grape Jelly Sandwich,\" she said, a\nfearsome gleam in her eye.  \"You killed\nmy boyfriend.  Prepare to die!\""}
