{"sf1_id":602667,"sf2_id":"dePKXQ31","title":"The futility of War","author":"spring87","words":161,"posted_at":"2013-10-15T14:23:00.000Z","tags":["Poem","Spring87","War"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/602667-the-futility-of-war","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/dePKXQ31","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/b3/2a/b32aa4d2-7867-4f56-80fa-70ec055ed1c1","description":"","content":"All around me  \nthey lay screaming and shouting  \nfor some of those here  \nthis is their final outing\n\nbullets rip through the air  \nwith a whistling sound  \nAnother scream  \nanother body on the ground\n\nI hear the sound of  \na chattering machine gun  \nEach bullet taking  \nthe life of another  \nfather, brother, uncle or son\n\nI am a medic,  \nalone on the ground  \nmy fallen comrades  \nmake no sound\n\nThe futility of war  \nI can see,  \nmy fellow group  \nrelying on me.\n\ni run to the latest one   \nthat has fallen  \ni can hear the shouts  \nof everyone calling\n\nI close his wounds  \nhe is frightened  \nhis bullet wounds  \nbetween my hands are tightened\n\nTrying to help him  \nas best as I can  \nhe passes away  \nbefore I can\n\nLooking up denying my death  \nI cradle his head  \nas he takes  \nhis final breath\n\nI hold the brave one close  \nand I gently cry  \nwht does the young  \nhave to die!\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
