Please provide feedback, as I hope to continue editing and making these acceptable for publication.","content":"Mother, there's a monster hiding underneath my bed:\n\nThe tentacles snake up to try and grab my head.\n\nClaws with nasty edges scratch across the wooden floor -\n\nThe grating sound signifies his intent to gore\n\nHow can I sleep knowing I might not make it to dawn?\n\nI think this should explain my feeling so withdrawn.\n\nMother, won't you help me\n\nSo we can rest more easily?\n\nMother, there's a monster living in my closet, too,\n\nBeside the dirty laundry - you will find this true.\n\nLair made of dirty socks it has been known to make -\n\nThe shifting in its nest is keeping me awake.\n\nWill I ever be able to look into that space?\n\nI'm sure you could make it vanish without a trace.\n\nMother, please come help me\n\nFor I'm too scared to move right now.\n\nMother, there's a monster at the basement stairs, as well:\n\nIt almost got me last time when I slipped and fell.\n\nSticky puddles made of drool are pooling on the rug -\n\nI'm sure I've seen it clearly, it looks like a bug.\n\nDo you think you could remove it from that place for me?\n\nIt won't take too long, just put down your cup of tea.\n\nMother, can you help me\n\nI'm just so very afraid here.\n\nMother, there's a monster sitting on my window sill,\n\nIt stares at me and waits for chance to have its fill.\n\nShrieking like the midnight wind, though it's the real culprit -\n\nI bet it wants to do whatever it sees fit.\n\nWon't you check outside for me since I want to sleep?\n\nI promise after this I will not make a peep.\n\nMother, hurry! Help me!\n\nThe terror is too much for me.\n\nMother, there's a monster that lumbers around the house;\n\nSo silent do I tred - just like a little mouse.\n\nLashing tongue of hate keeps me in check at every time\n\nAnd still I have not figured out my vicious crime.\n\nWhy can't things be peaceful whenever I stay at home?\n\nSo let me say one thing before I start to roam:\n\nMother, you're a monster\n\nCause you never did believe me.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/630245-across-the-divide.json"}}
