Please provide feedback, as I hope to continue editing and making these acceptable for publication.","content":"For these things I make myself cry:\n\nWater falls from my eyes,\n\nSince a comforter for my soul,\n\nDistanced himself from me,\n\nAnd my children were all scattered\n\nWhen the rivals conquered.\n\nIn exile I have stood long,\n\nEnduring taunts and jeers,\n\nAs surrounding nations holler,\n\nDrowning cries for mercy:\n\n\"Where is your promised redeemer,\n\nThe one your heart awaits?\"\n\nOh, that the Great Wall could have eyes\n\nFrom which its tears would flow,\n\nAnd a mouth from which to wail,\n\nTo weep for missing kids.\n\nThe luster in her cheeks paled,\n\nFrom mourning night and day.\n\nWith no one to console her loss,\n\nNor shoulder for support -\n\nWhat happened to the sweet city,\n\nWhere in the fairest slept?\n\nYet a cesspool it has become,\n\nA place to loathe and hate.\n\nA former fortress for the wise,\n\nNow overrun with fools.\n\nThe dwellings of the rich are gone,\n\nWhile beggars line the street.\n\nAnd women known for compassion,\n\nAre forced to eat their young.\n\nJest and enjoy your merriment,\n\nBut do it somewhere else.\n\nFor here I'll stand and here I'll cry\n\nAnd share the Great Wall's pain.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/630248-afterimage.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/630266-all.json"}}
