From here on, all updates will be posted daily until Christmas.","content":"The Winter Chronicles\n\nDecember of 2013\n\nThe Corporate: Part 3 of 8\n\nHarold had been sitting quietly in his seat. And while he was eagerly taking in his food, the feast\n\nin front of him did little to spark the faintest of conversation. And perhaps it was that which stirred the\n\nuneasy tension in the room as he and his rather large family ate. His own mother, sitting directly across\n\nfrom him and his cousins, was unusually quiet as she picked at her plate.\n\nIt was Harold's father who finally broke the silence, asking whether or not Harold wished to be with\n\nthe family for Christmas Eve. Harold hesitated at the question and then lowered his fork. He muttered the\n\nquestion silently to himself, and then repeated it again at a louder tone.\n\nHarold then flew into a rage. Tossing his plate off of the table he scorned the man for asking such a\n\nridiculous query. Of course he did not wish to be there! He had much better things to do on Christmas\n\nthan lay around and do what? sing frivolous carols? There were things to be done, deadlines to be met!\n\nWhy was there any question to his schedule? Why was it that they couldn't understand that Harold was\n\na busy and important man? Why were these people always so needy?\n\nHarold stopped himself and then raised his hand as if to reference every object in the room. Although\n\nthis house was occupied by his parents, it was actually Harold who held the deed to the property. Harold\n\nmade that very clear now that all of this was his willingness to put up with them. And he also made it very\n\nclear that he did not want to be bothered ever again. With this, Harold stood up and excused himself from\n\nthe table. Reaching the front door, he spun around on a heel and pointed towards his younger sister, Beth,\n\nwho also happened to be his personal secretary and, just before, had requested form him a day's leave on\n\nChristmas Eve. He said to her now that if she was not in her office on that day, he would fire her. And with\n\nthat, Harold walked out leaving the door open behind him.\n\n  \n  \n\n","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/633611-the-corporate-part-2-of-8.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/634182-the-corporate-part-4-of-8.json"}
