They were in their bedroom but couldn't stay\nawake long enough to catch Santa Claus coming down the chimney but\nalso couldn't sleep long enough for the sun to completely come up,\n\n \"Dad! Dad! Dad! Wake up dad!\" they\nsaid to both parents as they pounded furiously on their parents\nbedroom door.\n\n Silverback stuck his arm out from\nunder the covers and grabbed the alarm clock on their nightstand as\nthe red numbers read \"5:41 a.m.\"\n\n \"Honey,\" Silverback says.\n\n \"Hmm?\" Zero mumbles still\nhalf-asleep.\n\n \"The kids are up.\"\n\n \"Hallelujah,\" Zero said\nsarcastically.\n\n \"Time to wake up lovebutt, it's\nChristmas,\" Silverback said as he got his groggy butt up out of bed\nand put on his slippers.\n\n \"Ugh, I'll get up for Christmas as\nlong as we don't have to see my mother today,\"\n\n Silverback slips on his robe and flops\ninto bed and kisses his husband on the lips before gently shaking\nhim, \"Come on love, your mom comes down once a year and she is\nlooking forward to seeing us and the kids. Besides, we already\npromised her we'd be at your sister's later.\"\n\n \"Ugh...\" Zero groans again.\n\n The kids pounding started getting\nlouder, \"Dad! Get up dad! Santa came! Santa came!\"\n\n Silverback get out of bed and opened\nthe door to the kids running in, hugging his legs, and bouncing up\nand down with sparkling excitement in their eyes,\n\n \"Dad, Santa came and got us\npresents!\" Zen said happily.\n\n \"Well, we're going to open them\nright now, but first you and your brother do me a favor and go jump\non your father. Hehe.\"\n\n \"Yaaaaay!\" Both boys ran over to\nthe side of the bed and climbed on Zero's side and bounced happily\nall around him. Testify licked his father's cheek, \"Dad, there's\npresents downstairs, we must open them before they fly away and Santa\ntakes them back!\"\n\n Zero rubbed his eyes and giggled as\nhe sat up out of bed, \"Alright, alright I'm getting up hehe.\"\n\n Silverback picked both the boys up and\nstood them on the floor. He could tell they couldn't hold their\nexcitement for much longer to get all their new and mysterious\npresents, \"Alright boys, give us a few minutes and we'll be\ndownstairs to open your gifts.\"\n\n \"Yaaaaaaaaaay!\" the pups cheers\nechoed as they left the room and made their way downstairs.\n\n Zero was finally up and in his robe.\nSilverback couldn't help but wrap his arms around his hubby's\nwaist and give him a big kiss right on the muzzle. Their muzzles\nlocked up as their tongues swirled around each others.\n\n \"Merry Christmas,\" Silverback said\nwith a big warm smile.\n\n \"Merry Christmas hon,\" Zero smiled\nback.\n\n \"Are you excited? Another Christmas\nmorning that you and me get to share together.\"\n\n Zero's smile grew wider, \"Hehe,\nyes. The boys are going to love their presents we got for them.\"\n\n \"Oh yes they will,\" Silverback\nhugged tighter, \"They're going to love the Nex-Box we got for\nthem.\"\n\n \"So . . .\" Zero looks up into his\nhusband's blue eyes and puts his paw on his chest, \"What did you\nget me this year?\"\n\n Silverback smiled, \"Well what did\nyou get me this year?\"\n\n \"Oh no, you'll\nhave to wait til tonight to find out,\" Zero said before he sighed\nunder his breath, \"Maybe we can tell my mother that I had to go to\nwork today.\"\n\n \"No you already\ngot coverage for today, just relax hon. I'll be by your side the\nentire time.\"\n\n Zero puts on a\nhalf-smile, \"Okay honey.\"\n\n* * *\n\n The\nsteam-cooker outside was cooking a delicious ham as members of Zero's\nfamily were scattered about inside and outside the house, which was\nfull of wonderful decorations and a very fancy Christmas Tree, plenty\nof delicious food to eat . . . and of his their parents. Zero watched\nas Testify and Zen ran across him as they were playing with their\nniece and he wondered if he should go chase them down and tell them\nto stop running in the house . . . anything just to get away from his\nmother for a few moments,\n\n \"When\nare you going to quit managing at that department store and do\nsomething that actually makes a difference,\" Zero's mother asked.\n\"You should work at the Journal Center as a writer for the\nnewspaper or a magazine, you would make more money and tons of people\nwill get to read your writing.\"\n\n Zero's\ntail drooped, \"Silverback and I don't even like fancy celebrity\nmagazines, they print nothing but lies and there's too much demand\nfor what celebrities are doing and who they are doing. I've told\nyou that before! My job is just fine for now. Plus, Silverback and I\nneed to provide for the kids. So please just drop it.\" Zero tried\nnot to raise his voice. She had brought up the Journal Center time\nand time and many many many times before but he wanted nothing to do\nwith writing for celebrity magazines and he rarely read the\nnewspaper.\n\n \"Oh\nhoney, just think about it okay?\" She gave him a sweet smile but\nZero tail wasn't going to wag with that face.\n\n \"Fine...\"\nhe said walking over to any other place where she wasn't there. He\nsaw Silverback was outside chit-chatting with his grandfather as they\nstood around the pressure-cooker pot. Zero smiled a little when the\naroma of a delicious honey-smoked ham ran across his nose as he stood\nnext to them outside.\n\n Silverback\nwas deep in conversation and took a sip of his soda before he\nlaughed, \"The G.R.R. Intercontinental Championship replica belt is\nawesome but it did cost me a pretty penny hahahaha. But I love it! It\nlooks so cool!\"\n\n The\ngrandpa coughed, \"The Intercontinental Title has been said by\nwrestlers to be even better than the World Championship, I read it in\nRaynge Husky's autobiography. I have to agree. I remember that\nmatches from 1998 over that Championship belt, just extraordinary.\"\n\n Silverback\nsmiled and pointed, \"And I wholeheartedly agree.\"\n\n Zero\ngrabbed Silverback's paw and gave him a kiss on the cheek as he\nwhispered, \"Is it time to go yet? My mother is already driving me\ncrazy.\"\n\n Silverback\nwhispered, \"We just got here hon. Here, just stay by me.\"\n\n Zero\nhugged his arm tightly, \"That's my plan.\"\n\n Zero's\nmom came outside and closed the door behind her, this time with her\npurse over her shoulder, \"Zero, before I forget again, I wanted to\nbring this to you.\" She reached into her purse and pulled out a\nwhat appeared to be a plastic tiki head.\n\n \"What\nis that?\" Silverback asked.\n\n Zero\nstared bewildered and snatched it from her paw, \"Wow, my Mega-Data\nCard Reader! Oh my gawd! I thought this was lost.\"\n\n She\nsmiled, \"I did my summer cleaning and found it behind a folding\ntable in the closet in your old room. I figured you might like this\nas a surprise.\"\n\n Zero\nsmiled, \"Wow, I remember you getting this for me for Christmas when\nI was . . . geez . . . when I was ten?\" He showed it gleefully to\nhis husband, \"This was for my Mega-Data card game.\" He pulled on\na little circular, black lever on the bottom as the tiki's mouth\nopened. \"Hehe, here's where you put the card in and then you\nclose it's mouth and it tells how well you did when dueling\nsomeone.\"\n\n Silverback\nsmiled and looked at it, \"Hehe sounds fun.\"\n\n Zero's\ntail started wagging again as he gave her a gentle hug, \"Hehe\nthanks mother.\"\n\n Her\ntail wagged as well, \"I thought you might like that.\"\n\n \"Yeah,\nI remember I got this for Christmas. I thought it was super awesome.\nSucks the cards are not being made anymore, doubt it still works\nthough.\"\n\n \"Mom!\"\nZero's sister nerve-rackingly shouted, \"Is the ham done yet? I\ngot three people wondering when it will be done, which is three too\nmany!\" They walked over to the outdoor-cooker and opened the pot,\nsome steam poured out.\n\n \"Hmm,\nI don't know, let me get your husband, he knows more about this\nthing than I do.\"\n\n Zero\nsmiled a little more when his Mom and Sister walked back inside so he\ncould gleefully give his husband a hug and a real kiss on his muzzle,\n\n \"She\nstill driving you crazy?\" Silverback giggled.\n\n \"Wow,\nI never thought I'd see my Card Reader again.\" He gazed at it not\npaying attention to his husbands words as all the memories of playing\nwith it to help strategize his card game. The tiki head was gold\naround the sides, it had a shining-silver face, with green eyes. Some\nof the silver paint on the face had faded or been scratched off due\nto aging. But the favorite feature was the black circular lever that\nyou stick your finger in to pull the mouth open and place the card\nin. When closed, it would tell him which number he got to determine\nthe score that was on each of his cards. He could have easily used a\ndice since there were six scores on the card but he thought there was\nno fun in using a plain old die.\n\n Zero's\ntail kept wagging, \"I wonder if I still have any of the cards?\"\n\n\n* * *\n\n It was\nafter midnight. The fire in the fireplace was almost completely\nburned out but Zero didn't need it with their beautiful Christmas\ntree illuminating the room. The pups were already off to bed with\ntheir bellies full of ham and minds racing about the toys they get to\nplay with for the rest of the week while school is out. Zero found a\nbox he was looking for in his basement and sat it down on the couch\nand opened to see it full of toys that he had when he was a pup. He\ngazed at some of the action figures. All of them with the paint\nsmeared. Some legs and arms missing, but most them remained intact.\n\n Silverback\nwalked downstairs in his bathrobe and whispered, \"Honey, what's\nwrong?\"\n\n Zero\nsmiled, \"Oh nothing, just rummaging through a few of my old toys. I\ncan't believe my mom kept my card reader.\" He held it in his paws\nbefore his husband gently took it and looked at it again. Zero kept\nrummaging until he got down to the bottom of the box and found a\nbunch of cards at the bottom.\n\n\n \"Oh\nwow, here they are,\" Zero started pulling out some of the cards.\nThe cards featured artwork of dragons and lion's wearing boxy armor\nwith guns and swords in their paws. They had numbers on one side and\na bar-code on the other side for the card-reader.\n\n \"I\ndoubt this thing still works,\" Zero said.\n\n \"Well,\ngive it a try,\" Silverback smiled.\n\n Zero\nswitched it in the \"on\" position and pulled on latch to open up\nthe little tiki-face's mouth, he slipped the card inside and closed\nit. Zero looked up at the little LED light that's on the tiki's\nforehead but nothing lit up, it didn't make any sound either.\n\n \"Meh,\"\nZero opened it back up and took the card out. \"Figures.\"\n\n \"Awww,\nwell I can get my screwdriver and see what batteries it takes and go\nfind some new batteries for it,\" Silverback said.\n\n \"Meh,\nif the batteries are still being made, it's a very old toy.\" He\npouted a little before gently chucking it back in the box and sat the\nbox back on the floor.\n\n \"Aww\nplease cheer up love,\" Silverback said as he pulled him into a big\nsnuggle. Zero smiled again in the snuggle as they gently rocked back\nand forth next to the Christmas Tree.\n\n Zero's\ntail started wagging, \"Hehe, I will. I just think a little too much\nduring the holidays.\"\n\n \"What\nare you thinking about?\"\n\n \"Just\nabout past Christmases. You know? I always enjoyed Christmas as a\npup. The toys, and the dinners, the stockings, and taking time to\ndecorate the tree, I just enjoyed it a lot more as a pup. Yes, I\ndidn't like getting clothes and seeing presents that looked like a\nwrapped-up mushy ball were clearly clothes. But Christmastime was\njust the best time of my year. Now that I'm older Christmas is more\nabout bills, and working, holiday sales and whatnot.\"\n\n \"Aww,\nit's still special. Didn't you love the look on Testify and Zen's\nfaces when we brought out the Nex-Box?\"\n\n Zero\ngiggled, \"Yeah that was awesome, hehe, I loved being surprised as a\npup.\"\n\n Silverback's\ntail started to wag. He looked up at the clock on the wall read\n'12:26 a.m.' \"Come on love, I've still got more surprises for\nyou\" he said as he stuffed his paws down Zero's undies.\n\n \"Eep!\"\nZero bounced as Silverback started squeezing him.\n\n \"I\nwant more eggnog hehehehe\" Silverback's tail wagged fast.\n\n \"But\nwe already drank it all,\" Zero giggled as he was being squeezed.\n\n \"I\nwant more, hehe.\" They both got up off the couch and quietly\nwhispered and giggled and walked up the stairs to their bedroom.\n\n* * *\n\n On the\nnext day, as December 26th started to draw to a close, the\nstars were bright and the sky was dark. Zero was exhausted from the\nlong day at the department store. Customers had filled up the lines\nat the store all day using their new gift cards while others were\nexchanging presents they didn't want for store credit. Zero was\njust sick of people and needed to get away to his husband and the\nkids. His car pulled up in the driveway as he noticed the Christmas\nlights weren't on. 'Well, they were on all month' he thought.\n\n He\nunlocked the front door and opened it to see the living room almost\nin complete darkness. The Christmas tree was off, and all decorative\nlights off, but their was a half-shadowed figure sitting on their\ncouch with a cinnamon-scented candle sitting on the nearby table.\nZero could smell the blend of cinnamon with the sweet and familiar\nscent of his husband. Zero closed the door and looked closer to see\nthat Silverback was indeed the figure on the couch, but was dressed\nas Santa Paws.\n\n \"Hehe\nhoney?\" Zero giggled.\n\n \"Ho\nho ho!\" Silverback said in a low but jolly voice with his tail\nwagging fast, \"Merry Christmas! Come! Come sit by ol' Santa Paws\nand tell Santa what you want this year for Christmas my dear boy.\"\n\n Zero\nput his laptop bag down and smiled as he gleefully sat next to his\nhusband and pushed himself under his honey's arm and rubbed his big\nbelly that was like a bowl full of jelly.\n\n He\nsaid, \"Honey . . . it's the 26th.\" The big, blue\nSanta scratched his big white strap-on-beard that hung all the way\ndown to his belly button,\n\n \"Nope,\nit's Christmas eve. Now please tell Santa Paws what you would like\nfor Christmas and Santa may be able to get it for you on Christmas\nmorning.\"\n\n Zero\nhugged the blue wolf's fat, jolly belly and snuggled him, \"Well,\nI would like two pups, named Testify and Zen, and I would also like a\nbig, blue, beautiful husband wolfy named Silverback.\"\n\n Silverback\nsmiled, \"Aww, but you already have them. The kids are very loveable\nand adorable and I have seen your husband, very handsome, handsomest\nwolf I know! But what would you like for Christmas that you don't\nalready have?\"\n\n Zero\ngiggled and brushed Santa's big white beard, \"Well, I agree that\nmy husband is the handsomest wolfy, but I have all I need right\nhere.\"\n\n Silverback's\npaw was shaking with excitement, \"Well, good ol' Santa Paws got\nyou a gift anyway.\" He reached down under the couch and pulled out\nthe Mega-Data card reader and showed it to him.\n\n Zero\nlaughed lightly before he took it, \"Hehe hunny, I already have this\ntoo. Why are you giving this to me?\"\n\n Silverback\npulled a card out of his pocket and gave it to his hubby. He looked\nat it and face-palmed. \"Hon, hehe, this is just a picture that says\n'Holiday Magic' taped onto a poker card. Besides, this thing\ndoesn't even work anymore.\"\n\n Silverback\npulled on the tab and opened the little tiki's mouth. \"Please,\njust one more try.\" He gave him a very big begging face before Zero\nsaid,\n\n \"Hehe\nalright,\" He took the card and slipped it into the Tiki's mouth\nand closed it. The little red light on his forehead lit up a red\nlight for a brief second before . . .\n\n All of\na sudden, the entire living room was lit up when all of the lights on\nthe Christmas Tree started lighting up at the same time. They both\nheard a click and then some Christmas music started playing as a\nlittle music box that was sitting under the tree started playing\n'Jingle Bells'.\n\n Zero\njumped, \"Hehe, oh my gawd! How did-- who-- . . . how did--\"\n\n Silverback\npounced Zero and pinned him down on the sofa, \"Hehe surprise\npounce,\" he leaned down and kissed his hubby as deep as he possibly\ncould. Zero moaned a muffled moan as he returned the kiss just as\ndeeply as he could. Tongues swirled around in wonderful holiday bliss\nas the song played for them. Their lips separated as Zero's face\nblushed very red.\n\n \"Did\nyou do all this Love?\" Zero asked, Silverback nodded happily. \"Hehe\nhow?\"\n\n \"Well\nmy buddy Brendan from work owed me a favor. He found the batteries\nfor the card reader and put in a sensor here on his forehead\" he\nsaid pointing to the little red light on the tiki's face \"and I\nhad him hook up another censor on the tree and the music box so they\nturn on the moment the card-reader gets activated.\"\n\n Zero\npulled down on Silverback's Santa beard off to reveal his real,\nwhite muzzle and returned to his lips the only way he could. Both\nwolves were excited and panted happily with their tails wagging fast\nand thumping against the couch.\n\n \"Hehe\naww you are the sweetest big wolfy in the whole world. You did all\nthis for me?\" Silverback nodded again with his tongue out. \"Aww\nyou're the best. Merry Christmas hubbykins.\"\n\n \"Hehe\nyou see, Christmas is your holiday too and not just for the kids.\"\n\n Zero\nwhimpered for a second, \"Aww, hehe.\" He rubbed on his husband's\nblue paw that was sticking out of the sleeve, \"Okay, maybe you're\nright Love. Maybe I should just appreciate every holiday I am given\nand make the most of it.\" Zero blushed as he petted Silverback atop\nhis head and scritched both his ears. \"Hehe, you are very creative\nhubby.\"\n\n Silverback\nblushed and chimed in, \"I try.\"\n\n Zero\npoked, \"Hehe, oh, by the way, where are the kids?\"\n\n \"They're\nstaying with your mom for the night. I asked her for a holiday favor.\nI want you to thank her.\"\n\n Zero\nnodded happily, \"I will thank her . . . in the morning.\" They\nboth continued their deep kissing as the Santa Paws costume started\nto come off."}
