Tock... Tick... Tock...  \nNever before have I been so capable to be able to compare  \nMy bedroom clock... to a hideous metronome.  \nA haunting presence  \nA lingering presence  \nAn all to hideous reminder that,  \ntime doesn't stop\n\nLate at night, on my computer,  \nclock ticking, IM's chiming, hand twitching.  \nMy eyes narrow, my brows furrow\n\nBefore long the tears begin to fall with a pace so clearly attuned  \nwith that hideous metronome.\n\nI cry not out of senseless abject sadness  \nfor reasons unknown to either me, myself or I\n\nI know exactly why I cry at 3am on a weekday night.  \nI pine for the sleep I can never hope to have  \nas I look back on a bed so lovingly made up for me by my brother  \nas he says  \nGoodnight.\n\nA contorted smile  \nIs cause enough for him to think my actions suspect  \nand wonder aloud  \n\"Why is my brother sad?\"\n\nThe conversation is unchanging  \n\"No worries, I'm fine. Just tired\"  \n\"You've been tired a lot\"  \n\"Just hard work\"\n\nHow could he not see the obvious lie?  \nRegardless, He soon departs.\n\nTick... Tock... Tick... Tock...  \nBefore too long my face is buried on my keyboard  \ntill once again I collapse  \nand find myself awake moments later\n\nNo Sleep, No Relief  \nFrom this unrelenting pain.  \nThis unending state, where days and dates  \nbecome nothing more than numbers  \nreduced from a sense of time  \nto simply that of  \na sense of loss.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/651985-towards-a-brighter-day.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/667103-offer-a-hug.json"}}
