#18 of My Poems

yeah, sadly my body irl is affected by something that makes my nerves send almost a constant signal of pain to my brain. It can get rough some nights.

Shaking, i wake, screaming from my fevered dreams,
Panting heavily, as my mate wakes, hugging me tightly.
She begs me for a answer, of why i screamed,
As i hold my arm, looking at it with fear,
 seeing it whole and unblemished.
First shock, then disbelief sets in,
for it felt too real to be dream, of flesh being ripped.
My body feels something ripple over it,
 energy coursing along my veins,
a side affect from my nightmares,
things i have never been apart of,
i'm no warrior, no soldier to be respected and honored.
But i can't deny, what in my slumbers felt
like a battle, wielding weapons, fighting something unknown.
In me is a deep respect and honor for
those who have fought for my freedom.
If i could, i'd give my all to honor these courageous,
 brave men and women.
For they truly deserve it, sacrificing everything for all of us.
Even the ones who don't deserve it.
