Written for National Poetry Month.","content":"  \n\n* * *\n\nHave you ever just sat still  \nand appreciated the beauty of nature?  \nHave you seen the sunlight dance across  \nthe water like diamonds?\n\nSat and watched an eagle skim across  \nthe waves to grab its next meal?\n\nWalked past a field and paused a moment  \nto look out at the wildflowers now in bloom?\n\nHave you ever pulled your mind away  \nfrom everything else around you...  \nand just listened?\n\nTo the wind in the trees.  \nTo the birds singing in their branches.  \nTo the waves washing in an out.\n\nHave you ever stared up at a mighty  \ntree and wondered what stories it had to tell?  \nWhat wonders it had seen in the centuries since  \nit had first sprouted out of the ground?\n\nHave you ever stared into the eyes of an animal  \nand seen a living soul staring back?\n\nHave you ever stopped for just a moment  \nto realize the beauty that's all around you?  \nA beauty and magnificence that passes us  \nby each and every day without us realizing it?\n\nHave you ever stopped to listen?\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"National Poetry Writing Month","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/689522-you-don-t-need-to-understand.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/689534-that-was-not-a-question.json"}}
