This time a bit more personal for me.","content":"* * *\n\nHave you ever given up?  \nHave you ever given in?  \nHave you ever heard something  \nso many times that you finally   \nstop fighting it and just accept  \nit? Even though you know it  \nisn't true?\n\nHave you ever been told something  \nor thought something so many  \ntimes that you just accept that  \nit will always be a part of you?  \nIt will always be there haunting you?\n\nFat.  \nSkinny.  \nDumb.  \nAlone.  \nPoor.  \nUseless.  \nToo pretty to be taken seriously.  \nToo ugly to ever find someone   \nto love.\n\nWe fight our hardest against  \nthe labels that are pressed upon  \nus until we manage to surpass them  \nand rip them apart.\n\nWe scream to the world that we  \nwill not be defined by their narrow  \nminded views of what should be  \nand what we are.\n\nBut what if we can't overcome it?  \nWhat if despite our best efforts  \nthe label continues to chase us?\n\nBeating against the walls of our   \nmind even when those who spoke   \nit have long since left us alone.\n\nWhat do you do when you stare  \nat yourself in the mirror and the  \nonly thing you can see is that one  \nproblem that torments you?   \nHow do you manage when   \nyour mind and body give   \nup and accept that nothing is   \never going to change?\n\nWe all love to talk about  \nthose who have improved their  \nlives. Waged their wars.   \nConquered their bodies,   \ntheir fears, their problems  \nand come out on top.\n\nBut what about those of us  \nwho have not?\n\nWhat about those left behind  \nwho held onto their hope with  \nfervent desperation until they  \nwatched it crumbled to dust in  \ntheir hands?\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"National Poetry Writing Month","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/690169-gates-of-osmium-iridium.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/691151-gamer-girl.json"}}
